Chapter 424 - Gotham in Panic

Harvey Dent restrained the impulse to shoot the Joker with a gun but chose to flip a coin to decide whether to pull the trigger.

Joker had no objections, shrugged, and said, 'Looks like you've figured it out.'

Peter Parker exclaimed, 'This lunatic doesn't care about his own life!'

Bruce Wayne said in a deep voice, 'No, look closely. His hand is on the safety, and how do you know if there are bullets in the gun?'

Peter Parker nodded, 'True, if there are no bullets, Joker might say later that it's a magic trick I performed for you.'

But all of this wasn't important; what mattered was that Harvey Dent's attitude had changed. He seemed genuinely swayed by this madman.

The coin flew high and then fell, but we couldn't see which side it landed on. Harvey Dent's expression and gaze became fierce, while Joker nonchalantly pointed the gun at his own head.

Just when people were curious whether he would shoot or not, the camera unexpectedly cut away, shifting to the convoy escorting the lawyer.

Many viewers couldn't help but curse. Now everyone cares about whether the Joker will die, and as for the lawyer, who cares about this guy's life?

It can only be said that fortunately, the quiz game doesn't penalize the audience to the extreme, otherwise, in just a moment, thunder in the sky would be as dense as rain.

Of course, some people care a lot about that talkative, reckless lawyer—himself.

Reese Coleman really didn't expect to see himself in such a bizarre live video. Just fifteen minutes ago, he, like most Gotham citizens, thought the floating screens in the sky were a farce or publicity stunt.

But now they all think differently. On one hand, they have learned from various sources that not only Gotham but the whole world, and even the universe, have similar screens playing the same live video.

Naturally, this can't be explained by ordinary pranks or publicity stunts, especially since the authenticity of the video played on the screens can be directly confirmed.

With this, people had no choice but to believe in the reality of the quiz game.

'Shit, why am I involved in such a disaster? It's all Bruce Wayne's fault, damn Batman!' Reese Coleman cursed in frustration while staring at the screen in the sky.

He had been watching the live broadcast outside with others, but since he also appeared in the video and became the trigger for the Joker's terrorist attack, Reese Coleman had sneakily run back.

If he hadn't been quick on his feet, he would have undoubtedly been beaten up. The people around were already fascinated, immersed in the future video, and naturally couldn't resist giving this troublemaking lawyer a lesson.

Just when the video cut, the lawyer was very worried about whether his future self would survive.

Now it finally cuts back, and in the video, on the police car he was riding, there was a cop planning to shoot him because his wife was in the hospital, fearing that the Joker might blow up the hospital, implicating his wife. So, he intended to take the opportunity to get rid of the lawyer.

Luckily, Batman noticed this and gave a heads-up to Commissioner Gordon, thus averting a disaster.

Seeing this, Reese Coleman breathed a sigh of relief, took a big gulp of alcohol, and then angrily exclaimed, 'The police are all fools! Every year, I give so much tax but still, they are thinking about shooting me, I better throw my money in water than give tax!'

However, the next moment, he saw a pickup truck directly crashing into the police car escorting the lawyer. Reese Coleman was so scared that he threw the wine glass.

Batman appeared again, driving a cool Lamborghini to block the attack on the police car, ultimately saving this troublemaking lawyer's life.

Soon, the camera cut back to the hospital, and Joker came out, washing his hands very hygienically. He then took out a remote control, walked away, and pressed it.

Behind him, explosions continued, and this madman indeed kept his word, completely destroying the hospital.

But when he came out of the hospital, the explosions stopped. Joker was somewhat surprised, turned around, and pressed the remote control again. Explosions and flames erupted again, and soon, the entire hospital was blown up!

Joker had already hijacked a large bus and escaped.

The response from the authorities or the police was a bit slow, but the good news is they didn't come away empty-handed. At least, they managed to save the lawyer's life.

But at the same time, there was worse news. Joker was not pleased that the lawyer was still alive. He hijacked a TV show host and had him record a video.

In the video, Joker stated that he would continue to wreak havoc in Gotham, especially after nightfall. If people didn't want to participate in this game, they would get lost.

But for those leaving the city via bridges or tunnels, would definitely encounter 'surprises.'

Undoubtedly, Joker's idea of surprises was related to explosions. All Gotham citizens who saw this video were in a panic, rushing towards the ferry terminal.

Except for those with private planes or those ensuring their safety, ordinary people under Joker's conditions could only think of one way: taking the ferry to leave this gradually chaotic and dangerous Gotham.

"People fell for it. I guess Joker will definitely tamper with the ferry!" Peter Parker couldn't help but say.

Commissioner Gordon nodded, "Exactly, Joker will definitely do that, but we can see it. These ordinary people in the future are scared of Joker. They won't realize this."

Bruce Wayne said in a deep voice, "Joker is creating and spreading panic. After his previous terrorist attacks, it's like a snowball, easily controlling people's inner fear. This madman has a thorough understanding and grasp of human nature!"

In the video, after the message was sent, traffic in Gotham was immediately paralyzed. What's worse, there were only two ferries in the harbour, and one of them had to escort previously detained criminals.

Because the police also didn't know Joker's intentions this time, what if he set up a diversion and rescued these gangsters in the chaos?

After all, he had a criminal record; planning counterattacks, being caught by the police, and causing chaos by bombing the police station, he took the opportunity to escape with the gang's accountant, Lau.

It can be said that under Joker's series of terrorist attacks, whether it's ordinary people or the police, everyone is a bit on edge.

Even Batman, similarly, became more suspicious. He used a sonar principle, applying it to all the city's phones, to monitor the condition of everyone in the city in real-time.

No matter where they are or what they are doing, Batman can keep track of them.
