Peter Quill shrugged his shoulders. "So, what's so great about being a god? I've been there myself."
Doctor Strange coughed twice. "Alright, Thor, you need to act quickly. After obtaining the weapons, you don't have to go to the knowhere. You can come here to meet us or even go back to Earth."
Their mission to the knowhere wasn't a direct confrontation with Thanos. Their goal was to prevent Thanos from getting the Reality Stone. In other words, they had to avoid a direct showdown with Thanos to minimize casualties.
Even though they had some knowledge of the future, Thanos with the Infinity Stones was still a formidable opponent, not to mention his vast army.
According to Batman's plan, their final battle with Thanos was inevitable, but they needed to be well-prepared. They had to choose a battlefield carefully, strengthen the Avengers and their allies, and weaken Thanos' power as much as possible.
So, for now, the plan was focused on a surprise attack. If it succeeded, great; if not, they would not engage in a direct battle. With Superman and Captain Marvel on their side, it was relatively safe.
Thor was not thrilled about it. He raised an eyebrow. "What's this? I crafted a new weapon to kill Thanos, and now you want me to hide on Earth? Can you confront Thanos in the knowhere without me?"
He felt that Doctor Strange was underestimating him.
Stephen Strange said seriously, "We are not currently a match for Thanos, Thor. That's a fact. You don't need to worry too much about us. With Clark and Carol here, we should be able to return safely. The plan is simple: get the Reality Stone before Thanos does and then retreat. If we can't, we retreat anyway. And when we retreat, the fewer people, the better. Do you understand?"
Thor reluctantly agreed. He mumbled quietly, "Thinking about running away before even starting the fight? That lacks courage."
Doctor Strange replied, "We need to use courage in the right place, not now!"
Thor waved his hand, reminding them to be careful with the Time Stone they had. Strange was confident; as long as he didn't want to, no one could take the Time Stone from him. Controlling time was a significant advantage.
Just like in the original timeline, Thor, Rocket, and Groot were going to Nidavellir to forge Stormbreaker, while the others would search for the Reality Stone in the knowhere.
"I hope we can get the jump on Thanos, or it will be troublesome!" Star-Lord piloted the ship towards the knowhere, and Gamora looked at the vast expanse of space outside, a worried expression on her face.
Peter Quill reassured her, "Maybe it's not as bad as it seems. He just got one Infinity Stone, right? The Power Stone is nothing special. We conquered it once."
Doctor Strange was surprised. "Is that so? boasting is not a good habit."
At this moment, Doctor Strange knew very little about Star-Lord, only that the Guardians of the Galaxy could be potential allies against Thanos.
However, this short interaction made Doctor Strange feel that the guy in front of him was a bit unreliable.
Peter Quill heard his remark and became more spirited. "Don't you know the name Star-Lord? We once saved the world! Speaking of which, I found the Power Stone, by the way. Look at you, such a confused look. I guess I need to educate you about that glorious history."
Superman chuckled, "I know. You were able to use the energy of the Power Stone without any devices, relying on your own body, right?"
"Haha, that's right! See, some people appreciate it!" Peter Quill became even more boastful and excited.
Doctor Strange frowned and reminded him to focus on piloting the ship. While space was vast, the ship wasn't slow, and an accidental collision with a meteoroid or something similar could lead to a major accident.
Peter Quill was nonchalant. Did he really need to worry about accidents with his piloting skills? He could reach the destination with his eyes closed!
Of course, such an advanced spaceship surely had an autopilot system.
"Let me tell you, the adventures we've had are legendary! Take the time we stole the Power Stone, for example..."
Star-Lord insisted on bragging about his glorious adventures to these seemingly uninformed folks. However, before he could get too far, Superman took over the conversation and briefly recounted Peter Quill's story of saving Xandar from Ronan's hands.
Peter Quill was both frustrated and surprised. He didn't expect his reputation to reach Earth. But if that's the case, why hadn't the big guy with the reckless attitude in front of him heard of his name?
"Ah, I guess you must be my fan, that's why you know so much about my legendary stories!"
Peter Quill was somewhat satisfied with Superman's introduction, especially when he saw Doctor Strange's surprised expression. It made him feel good.
However, soon Superman said something that wiped the smile off Peter's face, "To be honest, I think your later story of killing your own father for a righteous cause is more legendary. Killing a god, especially your own father... But I guess you lost your celestial powers and can't use the Power Stone's energy directly like before, right?"
Doctor Strange raised his eyebrows, "god?, Father?"
He hadn't expected this seemingly unreliable guy to have such a significant background.
At this moment, Peter Quill looked serious. Drax, Mantis, and Gamora by his side also became solemn. Of course, Drax, with his poker face, mostly looked the same.
"Peter's story... not many people know about it," Gamora looked at Clark Kent with surprise. "Your knowledge about us seems a bit unusual."
Unlike Peter Quill's actions in saving Xandar, which had become widely known, his later actions were not so well-documented, considering they happened in a different part of the galaxy.
