Under the worshipful and grateful gaze of the Asgardians, Superman arrived directly in front of Thor.
"Hello, Thor, Dr. Banner."
Clark Kent greeted naturally.
After all, they were comrades of the "Multiverse Defenders" in another place, although in this timeline, Thor and Dr. Banner did not recognize him.
Dr. Banner looked at him with some surprise. "Do you know us? You look like a human, but your performance just now..."
Clark Kent smiled. "They all call me Superman. I do know you, just not from this place."
Thor patted Superman's shoulder. "Well, Clark, you're forever our friend in Asgard! Let's catch up after the battle!"
Then he turned to Dr. Banner and Heimdall. "Protect them, please!"
Superman stopped him. "I'll go with you. Thanos won't be easy to deal with on your own."
After a brief hesitation, Thor nodded in agreement.
As they prepared another escape pod, before they could depart, a group of warships surrounded them from all sides. Thor and Clark's faces turned grim.
They hadn't expected Thanos to continue pursuing them with such relentless determination. Wasn't the Cosmic Cube more important to him?
Could it be... Loki had failed?
They exchanged a glance, realizing the situation was dire. Clark didn't have time to explain. He burst out of the escape pod.
With no protective barriers left for the Asgardian refugee ship, it wouldn't withstand another barrage. Everyone onboard would die.
The warships formed a dense curtain of fire, almost like a hailstorm, blanketing the refugee ship from all directions.
Superman dashed into the curtain of fire at speeds surpassing light, thanks to his steel-hard body, resisting the onslaught.
However, he was just one person, unable to protect all sides. In contrast, Clark Kent fought desperately to save them.
Thor, without Mjölnir, couldn't even fly in space, rendering him powerless in this space battle.
The refugee ship shook violently, and panic erupted inside. They thought they had escaped danger, only to be thrust back into the abyss.
Thor had to help calm the passengers and do what he could.
Under continuous fire, the Asgardian refugee ship resembled a fragile leaf in a storm, on the verge of being overwhelmed.
Superman was worried and helpless.
Then, a comet streaked in, crashing into the midst of the warships, passing through one after another like a detonation chain reaction, turning the silent space into a dazzling display of fireworks.
On the other side, Clark Kent finally found relief, plunging into the formation, his arms raised like a sword or an unstoppable spear, piercing through the warships.
Two "comets," one from the left and one from the right, cleared the area of warships, and then they converged above the Asgardian refugee ship.
"Clark Kent?"
"Hey, Carol, you came just in time!"
Captain Marvel emitted a radiant aura, her golden hair flowing, as she assessed Superman in astonishment. Clearly, she hadn't encountered someone so similar to herself before, especially a male version.
After a brief exchange, Clark Kent said, "Now that you're here, I can go look for the Cosmic Cube. Try to get the ship farther away; they can't endure much more."
Captain Marvel looked him up and down. "Maybe I should go instead. You don't look well. I'll handle this."
Clark Kent smiled. "I'll be fine. You stay here."
He looked a bit roughed up, but it wasn't a big issue. He'll be fine once exposed to the sun later, and it can recharge him in the process.
Captain Marvel arrived in a rush, and Nick Fury didn't have much time to explain. She might not fully comprehend Thanos' situation, so Superman believes it would be safer if he went after Thanos.
Captain Marvel didn't insist, only reminding him to stay safe. After sending the refugee ship on its way, she planned to find him immediately.
Then, she flew beneath the refugee ship, resuming her superhero duties, and carried the spaceship away.
In the refugee ship, Dr. Banner was dumbfounded. "This... I guess they're the super couple?"
Today, for Dr. Banner and the Asgardians, it was an unforgettable day. They had unexpectedly faced a sudden attack from Thanos' warships, with an almost unreasonable and overwhelming assault that made them feel death was imminent.
Luckily, Superman had arrived in time and stood up for them.
To see someone who could move freely in space and single-handedly carry a massive spaceship to safety...
Dr. Banner felt a mixture of emotions, but above all, he was amazed. Even more absurdly, another superhuman had appeared alongside Superman.
Witnessing Superman and Captain Marvel effortlessly wreak havoc among the warships in space, Dr. Banner felt a sense of wonderment. The culmination of human civilization, the advanced technology of warships, had become mere toys to these two superhumans.
In comparison, Thor and the other Asgardians were left with a sense of relief and ease after narrowly escaping disaster.
"Phew..." Thor breathed a sigh of relief, sitting down on the ground. "I can't stand this! I never want to travel in space again!"
