Clark Kent, with his steel body, withstands the surging attacks from Thanos' warship.
The overflowing energy blows his hair wildly, and his exposed skin is covered in severe burns, but, like steel tempered in the fires of adversity, he becomes even tougher after enduring pain and suffering!
Superman bears it all.
The shockwaves alone have caused significant damage to the spaceship. Imagine if it weren't for Clark's steel body shield, the ship might have been blown apart!
Watching from afar, Thanos and his Black Order are astonished. They clearly didn't anticipate that this sudden newcomer could withstand the concentrated onslaught of energy firepower from the warship.
"My Lord, look over there!" Ebony Maw suddenly points in another direction. Thanos squints his eyes and sees a small escape pod ejecting from the Asgardian refugee ship.
A brilliant blue halo suddenly bursts from the escape pod. While not very conspicuous, it still catches the attention of Thanos and his team.
They immediately deduce that the Space Stone they've been relentlessly pursuing is on that small escape pod!
"My Lord, it seems they know our target," Ebony Maw says softly.
Thanos, with a hint of irritation, says, "These ants think they're clever..."
Inside the escape pod, after causing a commotion, Loki shouts to Valkyrie, "Quick, we need to pick up the pace! Can we outsmart the cat? We're walking the tiger with a leash, but we mustn't let the cat catch us!"
Valkyrie, operating the lifeboat, raises an eyebrow, "Cat? I think we're dealing with a tiger. Loki, to be honest, I'm not surprised you hid the Tesseract in the first place, but I'm curious why you haven't used its power?"
The Tesseract can transport people and objects to any location in the universe. If used correctly, they might have evaded Thanos' pursuit.
Loki rolls his eyes, "Yes, the Tesseract is powerful, but do you think it's easy to control? If we make a mistake, we might end up right in front of Thanos!"
Each of the Infinity Stones is incredibly powerful, but they come with their own set of challenges.
For example, the space stone required Loki to open a portal to Earth, which took a considerable amount of effort and time.
Capturing scientists and engineers, and creating the necessary equipment – it was all quite troublesome.
Although Loki later created a hidden passage within the Tesseract, allowing its use without special equipment, he wasn't very skilled with it. He didn't want to risk it unless absolutely necessary.
Regardless, Valkyrie's piloting skills were top-notch. In the blink of an eye, they distanced themselves from danger and navigated skillfully and safely through the intense gunfire.
Thanos' warship naturally adjusted its aim and chased after the daring escape pod.
This relieved some pressure on Superman and the refugees. Clark Kent grunted and continued to accelerate the ship, carrying it further away from the space battlefield.
In the spaceship, the frightened Asgardian refugees found themselves at a safe distance from the ongoing gunfire. There was a brief moment of relief and gratitude among them. Some shed tears of joy, others raised their voices in exultation, while some tightly embraced their loved ones, tears streaming down their faces...
Thor clenched his fists, his gaze fixed on the battlefield beyond the window. "Those damn bastards," he muttered through gritted teeth, "I will make them pay dearly for this!"
Dr Banner interjected with a reminder, "Thor, we're not out of danger yet, and... if Loki fails to prevent Thanos from obtaining the Cosmic Cube, he'll have two Infinity Stones in his possession!"
Having personally studied the Cosmic Cube, Dr. Banner understood the immense power contained within this gem. The other five stones were undoubtedly equally formidable. Allowing this malevolent alien overlord to amass such power would surely result in catastrophic consequences.
Moreover, Dr. Banner was acutely aware of the presence of Infinity Stones on Earth, including the one embedded in Vision's forehead—a Mind Stone. There was no doubt that Thanos would eventually set his sights on Earth.
Their mission was crystal clear: prevent Thanos from gathering the Infinity Stones. However, their immediate concern was evading Thanos's relentless pursuit.
"Loki..."
Dr. Banner's words heightened Thor's anxiety. He was genuinely worried about his brother's safety.
Nevertheless, he hadn't forgotten the person who had assisted them in this dire situation. Thor retrieved the communication walkie-talkie and inquired, "Hey, are you alright? My friend, I owe you my gratitude for your help!"
Clark Kent now propelled the spacecraft forward at full speed and spoke in his deep voice, "I'm alright, but it'll take some time to get you to a safe place ."
Thor felt a wave of relief wash over him upon hearing this. The energy shock wave from Thanos' battleship had been devastating, and he had worried about the well-being of their benevolent saviour.
Dr. Banner praised, "He's truly...remarkable. He endured that fierce onslaught earlier. By the way, do we know the name of this kind-hearted individual?"
Thor didn't dwell on questions at this moment. He simply asked Superman to bring them to a secure location. Superman had been flying for quite some time, and they were now out of immediate danger. Thanos' primary target was not them but the one holding the Cosmic Cube!
"My friend, we have an escape capsule on board. If you can, join us in the spacecraft to rest. I'll go assist my brother!"
In truth, Thor secretly wished that Superman could return to rescue Loki. However, they had already received substantial assistance, and if Superman hadn't come to their aid, their refugee ship might have suffered irreparable damage.
Under these circumstances, Thor couldn't bring himself to ask for further help from Superman.
Clark Kent surveyed the starry expanse and deemed it safe. He instructed Thor and the others to open the spacecraft's door and enter.
Inside the ship, the terrified Asgardian refugees finally had a moment to observe their saviour up close.
At this moment, Superman appeared somewhat dishevelled, his combat suit in tatters, and his exposed body covered in scars. However, his eyes were sharp, his expression calm, as if he were a battle-hardened general who had just emerged from the midst of a fierce battle.
Of course, to the Asgardians, the Superman before them seemed to be enveloped in a radiant halo. He was their divine saviour in this time of crisis!
