"No, Thor, relax, I didn't mean to belittle you."
Nick Fury activated his Sharingan and locked eyes with Thor.
He said this out loud, but in his heart, Nick Fury did have some doubts about Thor's current strength, which might not be enough for this mission.
Undeniably, the future Thor had gone through a series of changes and trials, growing into a true God of Thunder. However, before that, it had to be said that Thor's title of God of Thunder had some room for improvement. Calling him the God of Hammers might be more accurate.
Even though Thor had seen his own future, there were many things he hadn't experienced firsthand, which made a difference.
Thor squinted his eyes, feeling that the guy in front of him was provoking him.
Seeing this, Steve Rogers quickly pulled him aside and said, "Thor, how about this, I can step down from the team and let you take my place, what do you think?"
Thor felt a bit embarrassed when he heard this and frowned, "Why should you step down? Just add me directly, can't you?"
Tony Stark also chimed in, "Steve, you lost the last round of the game, and your points were deducted entirely. You still need to participate in the team mission this time."
Steve Rogers sighed. He certainly didn't want to give up this team mission; the rewards were just too generous. But seeing Thor's firm attitude and not wanting to create internal conflicts over this matter, he said, "Why don't we vote for the second slot?"
Bruce Wayne spoke up, "Two slots are crucial. How about I nominate two candidates, and the rest of you can vote to decide."
Peter Parker immediately agreed, and Nick Fury and Tony Stark also followed suit. After a moment of hesitation, Thor said, "Alright, I'll nominate myself later!"
Bruce Wayne glanced at him and then looked at Superman next to him, saying, "First, I suggest bringing Clark in. His powers should allow him to face Thanos head-on, and more importantly, he has the ability to fight in space."
Everyone agreed with Superman's powers, and they had all seen his performance as the saviour in his world.
There was one slot left, and Batman proposed Wonder Woman, for it. The reason was simple: Diana's combat abilities were formidable, and her Lasso of Truth might play a crucial role against Thanos.
The first nominee passed unanimously without opposition. However, the second nominee made some people uncomfortable, and Thor was the first to object, "Bruce, both of your nominations are from the Justice League. That's not fair!"
Diana calmly said, "Perhaps we can have a fight to decide. The winner goes on the mission. How about that?"
She was also quite interested in this Thor.
Thor laughed and raised his hand, summoning his pink Mjölnir, looking at Diana with a determined gaze. "Alright, let me see if you are worthy!"
Steve Rogers sighed, "Enough! Stop messing around, Thor. Bruce, you can vote against Thor's nomination, but our goal is to deal with Thanos, not fight among ourselves, understood?"
He then looked at Wonder Woman, "Diana, I sincerely hope you can consider us as a team. We're forming this organization for a reason, and it's not to come together and fight."
Superheroes from two different worlds had their own temperaments, and it was normal for them to have conflicts, disagreements, and even rifts when they came together. Moreover, so far, there was no leader that everyone trusted in the Multiverse Defenders.
Steve Rogers and Bruce Wayne acted as the mediators between the two worlds, and usually, there weren't many problems. However, this time, Batman's two team mission candidates didn't sit well with the Steve side.
Apart from Thor, Tony Stark, Colonel Rhodes, and Natasha all expressed objections. In the end, Steve Rogers, on behalf of the Avengers, said, "The first slot goes to Clark, we have no objections. As for the second slot, we think it might be more appropriate to choose Doctor Strange."
Thor muttered, "Steve, don't you trust me?"
Steve Rogers shook his head, "There will be opportunities in the future, Thor. Don't be in such a hurry. Doctor Strange's magic can be crucial in facing Thanos!"
Thinking about how Captain America had intended to give up his spot for him earlier, Thor snorted and reluctantly accepted.
Bruce Wayne glanced around. There weren't many superheroes from the Justice League, but there were more Avengers. That's why he had given both slots to the Justice League, as maintaining balance within the organization was important.
"Let's vote for the second slot."
Everyone agreed, and in the end, Doctor Strange won by three votes, with Doctor Strange himself casting a vote against it, in support of Wonder Woman!
"Hey, if you don't want to go, you can give me the spot!" Thor raised an eyebrow at him.
Stephen Strange shrugged, "I think Diana is more suitable. To be honest, I don't want to go anywhere these days. I have enough on my plate, and I don't think we'll need two Doctor Stranges at the same time in the future."
After acquiring knowledge and the legacy of the Supreme Sorcerer from other multiverses, Doctor Strange becomes deeply immersed in the ocean of magic. If it weren't for Captain America and Nick Fury's strong insistence, he wouldn't have even considered attending the meeting.
His attitude annoyed Thor even more. You get to go, but you don't want to? "Fine, Stephen, we respect your opinion."
Captain America, Iron Man, and Nick Fury decided to let Doctor Strange decide whether to go or not. Doctor Strange shrugged, "Let Diana go; they are all new faces and might be more convenient to deal with Thanos."
Diana naturally had no objections, so the two extra slots went to her and Clark.
After the meeting, Nick Fury called Bruce Wayne and Captain America aside.
"Bruce, I understand your decision this time, but if there's another slot next time, it has to go to one of our people," Nick Fury said sternly to Batman.
Steve Rogers frowned, "No, in the Multiverse Defenders, we shouldn't divide into your people or our people. We're all in this together!"
Bruce Wayne looked at them and nodded, "Yes, we're all in this together."
With everything ready, Superman and Wonder Woman were also brought into the team channel. Peter Parker didn't waste any more time and chose to cross over.
Immediately, a golden beam of light descended from the sky, enveloping the six of them. Their destination was another parallel time and space.
