My eyes were probably red and puffy by now, I turned around to take a last look at the building which used to be home. 'good bye', I muttered softly as I stepped into the taxi. Closing the door, as the driver ignites the vehicle to motion. I stared from the window seat as the house begins to be distance from the moving car. I couldn't control the tears streaming on my face as the house seems to disappear in the distance.
'It is for the best' I said to my self reassuringly as we headed for the airport.
45minutes later we arrived at the airport, and I proceeded to the terminal for verification and processing to board my flight.
The flight lasted for 4hours till the pilots announced our landing at the JFK international airport, New York.
Shortly afterwards, I took a taxi to my rented apartment which I was to share with a roommate because of the cost. I was overwhelmed by many thoughts and questions and I soon drifted to sleep. I was woken up by the sound of constant honking from the driver as he pulled into the new neighborhood. The environment was beautiful with palm trees here and there, tall buildings, stores, and huge mansions and the fancy cars that moved on the streets or parked in driveways.
Soon, he pulled up in front of a big 3 storey building with many rooms, I paid him as he dropped me off and i headed inside the building, taking the elevator to the second floor. I scanned the floor for the room number '45. and soon enough I was standing before the room door with the number '45 on it. I knocked slightly swiping the room card on the door lock as the door opened to a very warm and cozy room.
'Hello, anyone in?" I questioned not too loudly announcing my presence as I brought my bags in, but got no reply, like no one was home. after analysing the space, I located the bedroom and the room had two bed spaces, one looked used and the other still dressed neatly, so I dropped my things by the neat bed and plopped down on it, my mind wandering around till I finally caved in to sleep.
I was woken up by the sound water splashing in the bathroom just across the room. I stirred for a while then sitting up. Just as I did someone opened the bathroom door and a lady about 5'8 ft stepped out with a yellow SpongeBob Bob customised towel wrapped round her.
'Hey there, you're awake' she stated with a big smile as she walked towards me drying her hair with the sides of her towel.
"I'm Jessica, your roommate", she said extending her hand, "Maria, I replied, shaking hands".
We made a few Introductions before I felt the urge to freshen up.
We spent the whole evening talking and getting to know eachother, before retiring to bed. It turned out Jessica was in the same school as myself and she worked part-time job at an eatery close to school.

The next morning we headed to college together, after breakfast and she helped me out with my schedule and physical registration, before heading to her lecture room and I the same.
A couple of hours later the lecture ended and we headed out to the next lecture. The next lecture soon ended and I called Jessica to find out when she would resume her work.
So, I asked her to help me out shopping for I things I needed knowing she still had 2hours until she went to work, which she happily accepted.
