Chereads / Entangled With The Hot Delinquent / Chapter 7 - Maddox Gunner

Chapter 7 - Maddox Gunner

It wasn't long before the doors to the classroom slammed open. Students started to make their way in.

My heart started to pick up pace and my knees began to tremble.

''You'll be fine.'' Alex assured me, as he patiently waited by my side.

I nodded and smiled in return. I noticed a few students eyeing me curiously. The group of girls seated at the front of the classroom giggled, whispering and pointing whilst staring in my direction.

My hand automatically reached out to my face. Did I have something on my face? Or was it my clothes? My suit jacket did look oddly large on my thin frame.

Or it could be my wig. I had taken a lot of time searching for the perfect wig. I had been looking for something that was stylish and matched my olive skin.

I finally settled on a black, styled hair piece. The last thing I wanted to be known as was the geeky, new teaching assistant. I was naïve to think that my choice of head wear would help my social standing.

''Settle down, everyone!''

After a few shouts and murmurs, the students fell into a agreeable silence.

Alex leaned against his desk, crossing his arms. I, along with every female in the classroom, watched him with extra care.

He was just so... dreamy.

''I would like to welcome you back and I hope you had a well rested break. No parties and alcohol free break ,'' He added with a wink causing the class to break into light laughter.

''You may have noticed that we have a new addition.'' Alex turned to face me, his breath-taking smile did nothing to calm my nerves.

Please say I don't have to introduce myself , I mentally prayed.

He waited for me to speak. I gulped, feeling myself heat up.

I took a moment before speaking, ''He--Hello...I'm Mr. Adams. I've recently moved from London to New York to pursue my career in teaching and I will be assisting Mr. Presley with your English lessons this school year.''

I stopped talking, shifting awkwardly. A few students smiled kindly, others yawned and a couple watched me with the same expression they did with Mr.Presley . Oh.

Oh .

This is awkward.

''Thank you, Mr.Adams. Now back to what you will be studying. We have two novels to choose from. The first one---'' Alex stopped suddenly, interrupted by a load bang.

My eyes widened with shock.

Maddox Gunner wandered into the classroom. His gaze met mine for a brief second before quickly reaching Alex.

''Morning, sir.'' Maddox said, smirking obnoxiously.

I was surprised to see Alex's tight-lipped expression.

''Would you care to explain why you are late, Mr.Gunner?'' Authority layered Alex's tone. He stood up straighter and patiently waited for Maddox's response.

Maddox shrugged nonchalantly, ''You know me sir. I had parties to attend, bitches to f*ck.''

Guffaws of laughter and shocked gasps erupted amongst the students.

I couldn't contain my own wide-eyed expression. This guy was unbelievable.

How could he go around speaking and acting the way he did?

''Get out!'' A flustered Alex ordered.

''Mr. Adams, can you please escort Maddox to the principal's office?''

Me?

Oh, Crappity Crap Crap .

''Sure.'' I muttered.

Maddox walked ahead of me, slamming the door behind him. This caused another wave of laughter to spread throughout the classroom. Once again, my cheeks burned.

I opened the door and glanced back momentarily, ''I won't be long.''

Alex smiled, gratefully. Stupid

idiot.

''Maddox! Maddox!'' I called out, 'Wait! The principal's office is this way.' I yelled pathetically.

He continued to head in the opposite direction. I sighed, before deciding to run after him. I guess I didn't need to go to the gym anymore. I was getting enough of a workout in this place.

''Stop!'' I said, gasping for air. He was a fast walker.

I placed my hand on his shoulder, gesturing to him to stop.

Wrong move.

Maddox spun around, his eyes blazed with anger. He pushed me against the wall, I held in the scream that threatened to leave my mouth. If I screamed, my cover would be blown. There was no way I could scream in a manly way.

''Don't touch me, asshole.'' He growled. His hands gripped onto my shirt, tightly.

I shook in fear. I knew it! I was going to die. This place was going to kill me!

''I'm sorry! Let me go! Please!'' I

begged.

A sinister grin appeared on his face. He was inches away from my face.

His hot breath fanned my face and his fresh, minty scent dominated all my senses.

''Not the big man now, are you?'' He whispered, chuckling at my quivering state,

''Now, listen up Mr. Adams. I make the rules round here. The quicker you understand this, the easier your life will be. You want to do well in this school?''

I managed to nod.

''Thought so. Leave me alone and you will. Understood?''

''Yeah.'' I croaked.

Maddox finally let go of me.

I slumped to the floor and adjusted my crumpled shirt.

He looked down at me, a look of distaste washing over his face,

''loosen the suit jacket, sir. It's no longer 1960.'' With that last statement he strolled off.

Leaving me and my thoughts in a huge mess.
