( Time skip - 24th October 1991)
I quickly shot up from my bed once I heard loud banging on my dormitory door. Pulling the blanket up to my chest, I look around the room for the others but I am welcomed with emptiness.
" Get down here now!" Someone from behind the door shouts as another bang is brought upon the wooden door.
"Why? What time even is it?!" I call back to the mysterious person behind the door.
"Just do it, get dressed and get down here!" The person demands harshly.
"Okay, okay. I'm up. I'm awake." I throw away the blanket that I once held tightly to my body and place both of my feet onto the cold wooden floor then walk to the bottom of my bed where my trunk is seated. I open the lid and reach inside for my uniform then walk to the bathroom where I soon get changed.
I wrap my red and yellow tie around my neck as I dart down the stairs into the Common Room.
"Here! I'm here!" I finish doing my tie then wipe the sleep from my eyes.
" Took you long enough, Rissa." A voice sighs. "Started to think you got lost in that bathroom up there," the voice sniggers as their accent starts to break through.
"Rissa? That's a new one, Wood?" I turn and look in the direction he is. My eyes are drawn to his hands. Held tightly in his palm is a little red box.
"Better not purposing," my brother says from behind one the velvet coaches.
" No! No..." He pauses as redness covers his skin slightly. He soon regains himself as a mischievous smirk grows on his lips. "Well, not today at least."
Harry rises from his seat and takes a protective stand in front of me and soon standing next to him is the rest of the trio. To her side, Hermione holds her wand.
"Okay he didn't mean it you three hes joking," I chuckle lightly.
" Yeah, he better be," George makes himself known. " I hope so too," Fred steps out from behind his twin, being slightly shorter. The two of them walk towards Oliver and look at what is in his hands.
" Oh, will you guys stop, please?" I laugh out. The sound of loud giggles can be heard from behind the staircase, I turn behind me and look towards the stairs. One by one a head pops out, first being Tesha second being Cherry then below her is Avery and Lillian. However, Avery must've applied too much force because as soon as her head appeared the group of them toppled over and landed onto the floor inside of Gryffindor's Common Room. Avery mutters a 'Sorry' under her breath as she reaches out to grab a hold of her wrapped item. As the girls get to their feet, they look at one another then at me.
" Iris look at our gifts!" They all shout at once as they circle me. This completely took me off guard, I don't remember telling any of them about my birthday. So how would they know? Blimey, I don't even remember telling Oliver or the Twins. So, from process to illumination: Harry must've informed them. I swiveled around and looked down at Harry.
" You told them?"
" Surprise," he smiled smugly at me.
" We were going to find out one way or another," Avery pushes forward her gift into my hands. The gift is wrapped neatly in a blood red material with a single gold string tied around the gift to hold it together. Our house colours. Not wanting to waste any more time I removed the gold string and the red material and look inside. A bright red scarf with lines of gold is neatly folded. I lift up the scarf and look at Avery.
" I love it! The colours especially, thank you." I send her a smile to show my appreciation. Tesha steps forward and hands me squared navy blue box.
" From us girls to you, we couldn't make individual gifts- "
" I love it already," I note. Removing the lid of the box; I look inside. There is a beautiful silver bracelet with four beads. The colours being red, orange, purple and blue.
" Our favorite colours, so you won't forget us." Avery fills in the blanks. I take the bracelet from the box and slide it onto my wrist. "Thank you, this is the best gift I could possibly ask for really and the scarf."
The Golden Trio clear their throats and take a step towards me, Hermione reaches from behind her back and pulls out a single light periwinkle rose. The rose reminded myself of my mother right away, it reminded me of the happy memories. When life was normal, where I had no worries. My mother's voice popped into my head.
" No silly, you can't touch the rose."
"Iris? You, okay? Did we do something wrong, I'm sorry is there something wrong with the rose?" Ron asks nervously.
" No, nothing's wrong. It's just the rose gave me a memory of my mother." Sniffling, I wipe my eyes and my shaking hands grasp around the rose.
" I knew you would cry; you would tell me every day about this flower and how Mum would prevent you from having it." Harry clings close to my side. I lower my head and press my lips onto his temple. "Thank you."
Oliver beams over at me, his exuberant eyes staring deeply into mine. The gaze between us is not once broken when he is walking towards me. Just as he is a few feet in front of me he opens the red box and what is inside amazes me. A small wooden plaque and an navy blue ribbon with the initials 'I + O' engraved into the wood stares up at me. Leaning forward, I grab the keyring and look at Oliver. " Thank you, but you really shouldn't of got me this."
" Don't worry about it, a gift is a gift. And for someone as special as you, I am willing to do anything." Oliver walks towards me and pulls me to him, his arms tightly wrap around my frame and encage me.
"Thank you, I know I've said this to everyone but really I mean it. You've changed my life for the best," I say to him. Oliver's mouth gently presses itself on my scar. As he lets me go his points to my scar, "Never hide it, being you is what made us love you."
" He's right about that," George's arm finds it way over my shoulders. "Come on, Freddie. Time for our gift. Look it's nothing special but it comes from the heart."
In Fred's arms is a ruby red knitted jumper, Fred soon lifts the jumper up after noticing I was staring. Knitted in the middle is the letter ' I ' representing the first initial of my name. I gasp and run forward and take it from Fred's grasp.
" This is so cool!" I examine the jumper. This causes the twins to giggle softly. "So, you like it?" George questions.
" Like it? I love it! Same for all the other gifts!"
