Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Gringotts

Harry and I kept glancing over at one another with puzzled looks before looking back down at our lists." But, Hagrid, how do we pay for all this? We haven't any money," Harry says calmly. Hagrid turns around and looks at us.

"Well, there's your money," Hagrid says as he points to a tall, white, marble building, that says 'Gringotts Bank'. He then says proudly, "Gringotts, the Wizard Bank. Aint no place safer, accept perhaps Hogwarts."

When I stepped into the bank I looked around in awe. Shelves full of gold and money everywhere you looked. Little weird looking creatures surrounded the place, standing on ladders or walking around with piles of books in their hands.

"Uh, Hagrid, what exactly are these things?" Harry asks as one of the creatures walks in front of him.

"They're goblins, Harry. Clever as they come goblins, but not the friendliest of beasts. Best stick close to me," Hagrid says.

I quickly grab Harry's hand then go and attach my free arm onto Hagrid's. Hagrid then pats my hand in a comforting way; allowing somewhat of relief to take over me. He then clears his throat as we approach a counter with a goblin, wearing spectacles and a waistcoat.

" Mr and Miss Potter wish to make a withdrawal," Hagrid says for us. The Goblin then looks up at us and then looks at me in disgust. I probably would've said something if Hagrid never placed his hand on my shoulder.

" Well, does Mr and Miss Potter have their key?" The Goblin says.

" Oh. Wait a minute. Got it here somewhere. Hah. There's the little devil," Hagrid says before leaning more forward towards the Goblin and whispers. " Oh, and there's something else as well." He then takes out a letter wrapped in a string and hands it to the Goblin.

"Professor Dumbledore gave me this. It's about you-know-what in vault you-know-which," Hagrid continues. The Goblin nods slowly and jumps down from his desk. " Very well."

The Goblin leads us down a hallway then opens the door; which reveals a cart. He gestures for us to get in; we obey. The cart stops, outside a vault. The Goblin then hops out in a hurry, Hagrid then gets out and helps Harry and I get out.

" Vault 687. Lamp, please," The Goblin says and Hagrid hands him the lamp and he walk to the vault "Key please," The Goblin demands once more. Hagrid hands him the key and the Goblin unlocks the vault. He pushes the door open and reveals what is inside the room. The room is only filled nearly top to bottom with coins and gold. I then look across to Harry and nudge his arm.

" Mum and Dad, made sure we were rich. Huh?" I speak. Harry nods still in amazement.

"Didn't think your Mum and Dad would leave you with nothing now, did Ya?" Hagrid says from behind us. The Goblin lets out a quick huff before walking down the cavern to another vault. Hagrid, Harry and I follow not that far behind.

" Vault 713," The little guy says. I look over at Hagrid and whisper," What's in there, Hagrid?" I ask. Hagrid then looks down at me and shakes his head, " Can't tell you, Iris. It's Hogwarts business. Very secret."

" Stand back," The Goblin demands. He slides his finger down the door causing the vault to open and reveal a small white stone package. Hagrid enters the vault and scoops it up. The eerie light it was shining with disappears. He then turns and looks at me with the package in his hands.

" Best not mention this to anyone, Iris. You too Harry." Hagrid says nervously. I nod towards Hagrid and place my hands over my heart.

" I promise."
