Vanessa resisted the urge to strongly grind her teeth as she looked down at the prince, who had lost consciousness. He wanted her to keep him warm and go hunting, but not too far. How was she to do that when there were their attackers lurking about?
Just as she was pondering her problems, a loud crack reverberated in the air.
Almost jumping, she decided to ignore the storm and get to work. Checking on the prince, she sighed in relief, at least he was not breathing raggedly. Was the poison already affecting him badly or what?
Looking around, she spotted the candles and quickly moved to light them first. She then moved to the hearth. Crouching low, she laid the logs from the wood box into the fire grate and lit a fire. This place was well stocked after being abandoned.
She wondered who stayed here and how they would react to her and Prince Klyde taking residence here without permission. Taking a kettle, she quickly hung it over the grate as she walked back to the prince.
