It would be a while before Ian and Laura returned to the mansion. The two enjoyed their time just sitting together. For Laura it was a relief to finally have her friend back. And for Ian, well he just enjoyed her company.
The moment they got back they were greeted by Logana nd a few others.
Logan gave the boy a pat on the back and then went to talk with Laura about something alone. While Scott had other plans.
" Glad to see your back, safe. I know we don't exactly agree on much, but I do care about your safety. Charles and Kurt told me a lot about what happened in space, but I'm gonna want your report on it first thing in the morning." Scott told the man.
" Sure thing. Sounds fair." Ian replied.
" Right. But there's one more thing we need to talk about." Scott stated.
" Yeah? And what's that?" Ian asked the man.
" Follow me to my office." Scott spoke.
Ian was confused about Scott's sudden tone shift. And from the look on the man's face, he knew that things must be serious. So, he followed Scott and Emma back to the man's office so they could discuss things in private. And when he got there, he was shown something that was unexpected.
" Hey, Ian. I hope you're okay, I know you guys made it back to earth and you're safe now... But I wasn't sure you'd make it out of the crystal. Let alone get back to earth alive. But if you're seeing this message then everything's worked out in the end. I don't have much more time here. We decided to stay with the starjammers to take down Vulcan. Someone had to. But I wanted to let you know that I thought about what you asked, and... I enjoyed our time together. I really did. But with everything going on, and with us being a galaxy apart, I just don't think it's fair for me to ask you to wait until I came back. So, I think this thing between us should end. It's just not fair to either of us. Our connection... Whatever happened to it, it's gone. I can't see your dreams anymore and I'm sure you can't see mine. I just wanted you to know that I will remember our time together fondly, and I look forward to seeing you again someday. Until that time, this is goodbye. Love your pretty bird."
The message finally cut out and Ian was smiling.
He wasn't upset that the woman wanted to break things off, in fact that's why he approached the situation the way he did. At least this way they could both part on good terms with one another.
" So, what's that about?" Scott asked.
" HAhahahaha!" Ian broke out into laughter and patted Scott on the shoulder. " I fucked your daughter." Ian told the man.
Scott and Emma were both left exasperated.
Their faces only made Ian laugh louder as he left the room.
" Man, that don't get better than that." Ian stated.
He went back to his room for the night and slept peacefully for the first time in months in a soft bed.
