After having spent most of the day just sitting in his room, Ian finally decided to get up. He needed fresh air and sitting in here wasn't going to help him.
Ian got up out of his bed and walked out of the room to a surprisingly busy institute. But not busy in the way it would seem. When Ian looked outside, he saw cars piling in and out of the institute.
" What's going on?" Ian asked.
" Didn't hear? They're sending home all the students that lost their powers." Julian explained.
" What? Why would they do that?" Ian asked the boy.
" I don't know, man. I don't know. I just know a bunch of them have left already and more are leaving by the minute." Julian replied. He looked somber, almost sad really. He loved being a mutant so much, He was proud of who he was. And to a mutant enthusiast like him, this was just painful.
" I need to go speak with Scott. This is insanity!" Ian exclaimed. He turned and started walking away, leaving Julian to watch as his friends all were taken away in droves.
..........
" The kids are leaving as we speak. And the others are all distracted with things in their side. We're totally on our own." Kitty told Scott.
All of the X-men still at Xavier's had gathered together in the war room to discuss their plans going forward. But things weren't going anywhere as smooth as they had hoped.
" We've got Bobby still speaking to the parents. But some of them aren't exactly happy to hear their kids are still mutants. This is all one big mess." Alex stated.
" I know, Alex. I know." Scott replied.
At that moment, the door to the war room opened and Ian came running in.
" Summers, what's going on?" Ian asked the man.
" What are you talking about, Mr. Sinclair?" Scott asked the boy.
" Why are you sending all of the students who've lost their powers home? Have you gone crazy too?" Ian asked the man.
Scott sighed and rubbed his eyes.
" Look, Ian, I know you think you have a say. But you really don't." Scott told the boy. " Emma and I are the headmasters whether you like it or not. And we decided that sending them home along with the teachers who have lost their abilities as well, would be the safest option for them." Scott explained.
" You think them not having their powers anymore will make a difference. You think sending them home will make them, safe? You're either ignorant or more blind than I thought." Ian told the man.
" Look, kid. This isn't the time for us to be fighting. This is a school for mutants. The danger they face staying here is far too great. At least sending them home now, they won't have to worry about any of the Anti-Mutant organizations hunting for them. They can go live normal lives." Scott explained.
" If you see this world in such simple terms... Then perhaps you are blind." Ian told the man. " I know what happens when a group like ours is pushed to the brink of extinction. I've seen first hand what the people will do, Scott." Ian told the man.
" I know, you might have been the leader of some brotherhood in the other reality. But that wasn't real." Scott argued.
" It doesn't matter! I still experienced it; I still have those memories. And I'm telling you, sending out our people when they are at their weakest doesn't protect them, Scott. It paints a larger target on their backs than ever before. What's an easier target for an Anti-Mutants zealot, than a mutant without their powers? Scott, I'm telling you, You are sending each and every single one of those kids to their deaths. You need to bring them back. All of them." Ian told the man.
" And I told you, you don't have a say in the matter. I'm sorry that things happened the way they did. We tried to stop it. But this is reality. It's time to wake up." Scott told the boy.
" Damn, you. Damn you, Scott Summers. You are going to be the death of us all." Ian told the man. " I can't believe you all are letting this happen. But fine, I tried to stop it, but what happens next... It'll be on your heads. Not mine. The blood will be on your hands. Not mine." Ian spoke. He turned and walked out of the room.
" He's angry." Emma told Scott.
' He'll get over it. He has too. There's no room for anything else now." Scott told the group. " This is how things have to be."
This was the hand the mutants were dealt with now. No longer were the days of mutants inheriting the earth. Now were the days of extinction.
" I can't believe Summers. I can't believe any of them. Maybe I should go see, Dani... If they're sending people away, she'll be forced to leave as well." Ian spoke. He remembered the last thing he said to Agent Moonstar before they died and felt bad for the woman. Dani loved her New Mutants, and they loved her. And now, she was being forced apart from them. " Yeah, I should at least say goodbye. She was good to me. And I... I squandered what time we had left." Ian mumbled.
He was getting ready to go meet, Dani when he heard a loud noise. When he looked up, he was horrified by the sight. Landing in a pattern around the institute were massive Sentinels, the size of skyscrapers.
" What the fuck is this?!" Ian exclaimed.
