Chapter 1 - "If you forget us, your people, we will also forget that you are our son and treat you like an enemy."

Uche was an intelligent, hardworking and loving medical student. He was from Obowo, a consangineous community in Africa. His parents had passed away, and his only sibling

was his younger sister. After graduating from medical school, Uche met Mr. Ebuka, his godfather and guardian. He told him that he wanted to practice abroad in order to earn a

shedload amount of money and develop his community. Mr. Ebuka agreed, but added that he didn't have enough money to send him abroad. Uche asked him to speak to the King on his behalf and Mr. Ebuka thought for a moment before agreeing. Mr. Ebuka knew everything about the King because he was a member of the council of elders. He explained how they were going to proceed in order for the travel plan to be successful;

they even named it the Obodo Oyibo mission (White-man's land mission).

The next morning, Uche went to the palace and informed the king of his intention to travel abroad for the benefit of his people. He promised the King that he would improve Obowo's status by constructing hospitals and schools, providing scholarships, bringing wealthy investors and so on. The king responded, "although your plans are appealing, I must first meet with the council before giving you my answer because sponsoring someone abroad requires money and the community income does not belong to me but to the people of this land. Go home, I will definitely get back to you.'' When he returned home, he told Mr. Ebuka what had happened in the palace, and they both had a togetherness long laugh because their Obodo Oyibo mission was going as planned. Later that day, the king summoned the council of elders, but before they arrived at the palace,

all the members had been persuaded by Mr. Ebuka. During the meeting, the council of elders advised the King to grant Uche's request because he was a loving boy with no bad record. Mr. Ebuka was also present at the meeting and stated "I'm hundred percent sure

that Uche will deliver Obowo."

A day before he traveled, Uche was invited to the palace by the king, the council of elders and the chief priest. He listed his intentions to develop his community in front of everyone and the chief priest stood up, smacked his stick on the floor, and told him that

they had heard what he said, and the only thing they could say to him was, "If you forget us, your people, we will forget that you are our son and treat you like an enemy." He made some noises with his stick and then walked away.
