Chapter 12 - Curious, right?

"Yes, you should be angry! Or something ... that shows you really like Alan. Instead, you're just straightforwardly watching your man being attacked by a prostitute," Gina advised.

"Besides, Alan isn't my boyfriend. So, why should I be jealous." Afika was so innocent. It's not that she didn't understand what her two friends were saying. Yes, it was back to her original vision and mission at this school. She just wanted to live a quiet life without any problems until she graduated.

"Eh, look at that too! Alan's classmate, whose name you shouted yesterday in the field," Gina elbowed Afika's arm. It was as if she had forced her to glance in Diaz's direction. What was wrong with Diaz?

"Senior was picked up by an auntie, who's very rich. In fact, he immediately got into the luxury car," Gina told Afika.

Afika's attention was immediately drawn to Diaz. She couldn't believe everything Gina was telling her. Is it true that Diaz likes Aunties? There's no need to bring out the worst in people.

It's not necessarily that she's dating Diaz. It could be his aunt or mother, thought Afika, who didn't want to be complicated.

Afika was too lazy to respond. Instead, her two friends told stories with great enthusiasm. When it came to school gossip, they were both quick to respond. Let's have something to gossip about later. Ah, lazy then. Dealing with Diaz alone is already very troublesome. Let alone taking care of other people. There's absolutely no benefit, Afika thought.

"I'll go home first," Afika broke off first. She had already been picked up by an online motorbike taxi.

"Be careful on the road, Bestie!" Gina and Febby simultaneously waved at Afika.

Afika waved back from behind. In front of her, a grim look appeared on her face. She still couldn't believe what she had just seen. She was still thinking about Diaz being picked up by a forty-year-old woman who looked beautiful and youthful.

"I wonder who Diaz is?" Afika thought about it all the way home from school.

During the journey home, Diaz sat quietly and still in the car. He preoccupied himself with playing online games on his mobile phone. Rather than making small talk in front of his mum. Basically, he was lazy to talk and had nothing important to discuss with his mum.

Oh yes, it's really rare. His mum bothered to pick up her only son from school. A very rare event and only done when his mum remembers. Usually, his mum is always busy at the public service office.

'Hah, you can take care of people all over Indonesia. But, you can't take care of your own child,' Diaz sneered. It was as if he wanted to protest to the state for making his mum even busier with state duties these days.

Diaz was embarrassed earlier. Because everyone kept watching him. When his mum picks him up from school. Perhaps they were gossiping about him right now. He didn't care. Whatever they think. He didn't really care.

"How was school today, Yaz?" asked Mummy to change the subject.

"Just fine, Mum," Diaz replied rather nonchalantly. His eyes were still glued to the screen of the mobile phone he was playing with.

"The semester holiday is coming up. Where do you plan to go on holiday?" asked Mummy again. Was she really curious or was she interrogating her son?

"Just nearby."

"Who are you going with?" Mummy urged.

"Alone."

"Are you sure you went alone? Didn't you go with your friends?" Mummy suspected Diaz.

Diaz shook her head, "No. I'm going alone, Mum."

Diaz felt uncomfortable because his mummy kept asking questions about holiday plans. What did mummy mean? There is an unsettling part of what makes mummy suddenly want to pick Diaz up from school and ask about her son's holiday. Usually, mummy was indifferent to all the activities Diaz did at school.

"You ... are close to a girl, huh?" Mummy immediately asked the question. Diaz glanced at his mummy.

"Girl?!" Diaz furrowed her brow until it folded.

So, ever since that moment... his mum had been curious about the girlfriend Diaz was currently seeing. Diaz's curiosity was answered. Mummy only wanted to know about that.

"You have a girlfriend, don't you?" guess mummy. "Come on, admit it to Mummy!"

"What girlfriend, Mum?" Diaz was evasive.

"That face of yours must have gotten into a fight over a girl. Isn't it?" his mum said again.

"Not because of that. That's it, Mum! Don't be a smartass, ah!" snapped Diaz. He got out of his mum's car as soon as he reached the front of the house. He wanted to avoid his mum's questions now.

"DIAZ!" called Mummy.

Diaz's mummy shook her head at her son's behaviour. It was very difficult for mummy to get into Diaz's world now. It was very different when Diaz was a child. Times have changed. Mummy can't know what her son has been through as a teenager.

Mummy was too busy working in the office. Until she forgot and didn't know her own son's puberty. It's a shame, isn't it? Mummy missed those important times. So Diaz got used to being independent and precocious.

"Diaz wait, Sweetheart!" Mummy quickly parked the car in the garage and followed Diaz into the house.

"Yaz!" calls Mummy. Before Diaz disappeared and hid in his room for the night. "You want to have dinner with Mummy, right? Mummy will cook for you, okay?" she offered.

"Don't bother, Mummy. I'm not hungry," Diaz refused. He continued on his way to his most comfortable resting place. His bedroom.

"So, what are you going to eat later? Don't go without food!" Mummy reminded him. Diaz turned around before he closed the door to his room.

"I'll cook my own instant noodles," Diaz said. He immediately closed the door and locked the room from the inside.

Diaz felt relieved that he had reached his own room. He laid down on the bed while looking up at the dark-coloured ceiling of his room. Not too dark, there was some paint decorating it. He drew on it himself. There were stars and other space objects.

Ever since he was little, Diaz had always fantasised about going to the moon and researching outer space. If necessary, he would love to settle on one of the planets other than Earth. The planet Namex, for example. So that he could be neighbours with Son GoKu and Bulma. Oh my! That was just a daydream from his childhood.

A few hours later, Diaz's stomach was a little hungry. He woke up from his sleep. Suddenly, he thought of ordering Chicken Geprek made at Afika's stall. Can you still order food at 10pm like this?

"I'm so hungry tonight," Diaz said while holding his stomach.
