Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 : Cheer you up

The day that turned the dukedom upside down has finally arrived. Yes, it's the ceremony celebration day.

Everyone in the mansion woke up really early today, not only because of the decoration and preparation but also because we had to greet people and welcome them to guest mansions. I even heard that Amon's family would come, while I thought he didn't have one, to be honest.

"Your grace, you appear to be in a very good mood today," Leola observed.

"Of course I have to. Today I 'll be having people over, and I need to always smile, as I learned in noble etiquette. Then I added, whispering, "plus there is a party and good food that I personally supervise."

She began laughing with the servants who were gathered around the breakfast table; even Julian smiled, but Amon just continued to eat with a straight face. This man doesn't know how to change the atmosphere.

"Today our Julian will be really handsome in the ceremony." I commented.

"Are you sure it's okay to bring him?" Amon whispered.

While I replied loudly, "Of course he needs to. He will be the next duke, and he is the son of the duke and the duchess; he needs to participate as well," I moved closer to him, "plus, didn't I say that we need to let him participate in social events so he can talk and deal with people, and that will also help in his recover?"

"I see" Amon reply nodding.

Afterward, I turn to face Julian and say, "And sweetie, if you'll feel uneasy, just tell me or Leola and they will take you to rest, that's no problem, Understand?"

He nodded cheerfully and resumed eating.

After washing our hands and mouths in that small water pot, we left the dining room to meet the guest as we walked to the dukedom's entrance, me and Amon in front and the servant behind us.

I was really curious about his family because I've never heard of them, so I couldn't help but talk and interrogate him while leaning near to him and whispering, "I didn't know you had a family."

"Do you think I am this harsh and wild, born without a family in the woods?" he added with a smirk.

I rebut the statement right away: "Oh, no, your grace, you are not like that; you are cute." Oh dear, I guess I have slipped with my thought, while he was enjoying my comment and smiling, he even asked " Me, cute? "

"I mean, you look like Julian, sure." I said as his smile gradually faded. Oh, look at how much of a failure and embarrassment I am. I don't even know how to respond. Then I added, "Seriously, Amon, who is coming, and why didn't you tell me about that? I continued as if nothing had happened.

"My mother and sister, as well as my uncles and other relatives?"

"Why don't your mother and sister live with you if you have them?

"Who knows?" he remarked while putting his hand in the pocket of his classic black pants, "perhaps running from responsibility."

I could hear sadness in his voice, but I couldn't console him because I had no idea what happened or how he felt toward his family.

I wanted to make this gloomy atmosphere vanish and make him greet his family cheerfully. So I snatched the ceremony tracker that Dillion was presenting him and ran away with it, saying, "Ya, Amon, loser, you can't catch me, and your ceremony will fail without this tracker."

He responded back while yelling at the top of his lungs. "Stop what you're doing, Auryn, and come back here." Don't let me use violence."

I responded, "Ha, you are making me laugh at you; you can do nothing to me," and then I stuck out my tongue, shook my ass in his direction to annoy him, and repeated like a little kid, "You will do nothing to me, la la la la."

Until suddenly I heard him yelling again, "Auryn, you will regret it, I am coming to you", and the man started running, even all the servants were behind him, saying, "Your grace, please stop; you should not sweat yourself."

"I don't care; I'm not stopping until I get her," he said. As I noticed that the situation was becoming dangerous and that he was getting closer, I picked up my dress and went dashi run run run . Damn it why he getting closer he run so fast probably because of his long legs , we had run the whole garden and I was getting tired because of this short legs, I witnessed a tree I hid behind it while Amon was facing me and I start going left and right holding the tracker up .

"Give it to me," Amon said, reaching for the document.

"No, you can't have it," I said as I passed it from one hand to the other.

Then I'm not sure how he did it, but he jumped on me with a hug , and the force of that caused me to fall backward onto the grass. I subsequently pulled him down upon me. We paused for a little while in this uncomfortable posture, breathing heavily and staring into one another's eyes as our body temperatures increased. When the maid arrived, everyone turned their backs on Julian and covered his eyes while chuckling and grinning.

We quickly sprang to our feet and shouted, "It's not what you think."

Dillion responded, grinning widely, "It's okay, take your time; we'll wait for you there." Then he took servants and Julian with him.

"Wait, that's not what..." But they managed to flee, and I was unable to clarify the situation in time.

We took a lengthy, resting position on the grass to regain our breath. Amon starts nagging me, "This critical document you should not fool with."

I started laughing so hard, not caring about his warning, and Amon turned to me and asked, "Why are you laughing?"

"If you have just seen yourself, how did you look like while running?"

"How did I look?"

"You were like an angry bull running after a red flag."

He chuckled a little before asking, "Am I?"

I kept laughing as I said, "You were absolutely scaring me; I never expected you to react like that."

"You are the one who provokes me," he said.

"Yeah, yeah, I know."

I took a handkerchief, wiped sweat from his forehead slowly, and continued to admire his face and mysterious eyes as he deeply gazed into my soul. I tucked my tissue into his vest pocket. I smiled as I stood up, shook the dust off of my clothing, and extended my hand to Amon. "Well, let's get up and meet the family." He stared at me for a few minutes before carefully holding my hand.

After arriving at the entrance, we waited for them to show up for five minutes. In the meantime, I checked Julian's clothing to make sure it was properly put together, then I turned Amon's neck to make him look at me, I checked his clothes and simply fixed his cravat, and then I taped him on the shoulder and winked, "You look good."

Amon was not standing next to me when the carriage came, so I turned around to look for him and saw that he was standing like a statue in the exact spot that I had left him in after tying his cravat. What's wrong with this guy? Even when I yelled his name, he didn't answer. I went to pinch him, and by the time I did, he awoke as though he had been dreaming.

I informed him, "Let's go greet them; they came."

"Oh, right," he said, shaking his head.

A woman in her forties wearing a bustled bloody red dress and a woman in her twenties donning a Gothic red dress disembark the carriage. In another carriage was a man with his wife and sons. Behind him is merely a couple in their thirties, and they are the top countess and earl in the nation, as Leola informs me while whispering in my ear.

Amon bowed to the first women, and I joined them in doing so. Then he took the lady's hand in her blustered, red bloody dress hand as she murmured, "Nice to see you, my son; it has been a long time," in a frigid tone and with a little grin.
