Emma sat in the dark on the balcony wondering with frustration what she did wrong to warrant him walking out on her in anger. Didn't they agree to talk about, and settle all issues between them? Why say you wanted to discuss issues when you knew you couldn't handle it!?
They are still going to have that talk whether he likes it or not. She thought to herself. She would wait here for him, hopefully, he would have calmed down and have a rational head on his neck by the time he returned from his drive.
She waited in the dark, right there on the balcony, and struggled with her heavy eyelids to stay awake. She didn't want to be sleeping when he comes back so they won't have to reschedule the talk to another day again. They are going to talk and get it over with any time he decides. to come home. She declared to herself.
She didn't know when unconsciousness took over her and she drifted off to dreamland. Hours later, the persistent ringing of her phone woke her up from sleep. She noticed the rain had finally stopped and wondered what the time said. Who could be calling her in the middle of the night and what could be the emergency that couldn't wait till morning? She wondered
She reached for her phone where it was lying on the cane table and the ringing stopped just when she was about to pick it up. She frowned when she saw it was an unknown number. Who could this be? She wondered again. She didn't have anybody that could be calling her with an unknown number and especially by this ungodly hour
Maybe it's Leo. She said to herself since she has not had the chance to collect all his phone numbers, she only has the one he used to call her the previous day. She checked for the time and saw it was past two in the morning.
"So he didn't come back?" She said to herself in anger when it finally occurred to her. He brought her to his house so they could talk and left her to find her way home simply because he didn't like the direction their talk was heading towards.
She stood up from the recliner, folded the blanket neatly, and placed it on the chair before making her way inside. Her phone started ringing again and it was the same number as earlier. She considered not picking it up at first, "let him go to hell!" She muttered under her breath. How could he walk out of her and think he could just call to make everything right?
'You should answer his call. Maybe he's in a jam or something happened and he needed to contact someone.' A voice said in her mind After much consideration, before she finally decided to pick on the third ring
[Hello...] Emma said, and instead of Leo's voice that she was expecting to hear it was her sister's voice that answered.
[Emma, thank God you picked]
[Lade!?...] Emma called her sister's name in surprise. Although she was a little disappointed that it wasn't Leo calling, she was glad all the same because she has been worried about her.
[I've been so worried about you! Why didn't you pick up your calls before? Why are you just calling me back? And at this ungodly hour, with a strange number? Are you okay? I almost didn't pick, you know? I thought...]
[If only you would just be calm for a moment, maybe I might answer at least one of your questions.] Omolade interrupted
[Oh sorry] Emma said and smiled at her sister's words. [Actually, I have something to tell you, guess that was why I was so fired up...]
[Yeah me too. I also have something to tell you, but before then, can you trace where I am with your GPS? I need you to come pick me up...]
[Right now!?] Emma asked, sounding alarmed
[Don't be silly] Omolade replied. and they both laughed. When it's daylight, as early as you can manage. I'll be waiting for you... Oh and the password to enter into the estate is dragon]
[Dragon!... Okay, got it]
After the call from her sister ended, Emma went to the kitchen to tidy up and packed their leftover food inside the freezer, before she washed their dinner dishes and finally went to bed.
"Oh fuck!" She suddenly swore when she remembered she had no clothes to wear and her car was at the mechanic's workshop.
"I'm going to kill you, Leo... Just you wait!" She said in a sing-song voice. Now what will she wear and how will she go pick up her sister? she wondered in annoyance
Her eyes suddenly lit up when she remembered she saw a carport inside the compound when they drove in that morning. She got up from the bed and was about to search through the bedside drawers for car keys when she saw some shopping bags on the floor by the foot of the bed.
They were from different high ends boutiques that sell branded clothes, shoes, and jewelry. She checked inside the bags and saw different clothing items from sexy lingerie, nightwear, and casual wear to dinner gowns
There were also different footwear... Heels, sneakers, sandals and slippers, and bags too. She also noticed in amusement that half of what he bought was red.
"Leo, I love red but this much red?... She wondered aloud and smiled to herself. "Well, it doesn't really matter cos I still love them..." She declared and laughed happily to herself.
'Thought he said he was at work all day, where did he get the time for all this shopping... He must have been an expert in women's items?' She thought, jealous of the women in his life. "That's certainly going to be among our topics of discussion." She mumbled under her breath.
She put one of the gowns to her body and wondered how he could have gotten her sizes right. The shoes also fitted perfectly. How could he have gotten the sizes right when they're yet to find out about that part of each other's life. She wondered
She also wondered how many millions of naira all the items cost him. Happily, she picked out the clothes she would wear back to school tomorrow morning, blue skin-tight ripped jeans, a white shirt, and white sneakers.
"I love you Leo but don't think because you bought all this stuff for me that I would forgive you that easily. No, never!" She said to the empty room.
Even though she was angry at him before, just then, the love she had for him shone through and totally consumed her anger to the extent that there was none left. The smile on her face was bright and genuine. Knowing he had her in mind to the extent of doing so much for her, even when he was obviously very busy, gladdens her heart and made her love him more.
Her powers radiated, and the messenger of death standing at a corner in the room, waiting to carry out his master's wish disappeared into thin air because he had no chance against her, especially when her heart is filled with love for her man
