A week swiftly flew by and Kika tried her best to relish every moment. Thanks to the skilled potions of the Medallion, she'll be able to walk comfortably by next week.
Luke fed her, helped her wear her clothes and if she didn't stop him, he didn't mind washing her too. Kika turned red from just imagining it.
"C'mon mind. Wholesome thoughts! Wholesome thoughts!"
She hadn't even touched her crutches because...
Luke walked out of the closet looking spiffing as usual.
"I want us to eat out for lunch."
Kika was sitting on the chaise lounge cushion adjacent to the ceiling to floor glass windows. She was in an aquarium tank top and black sweat shorts. Her casted leg stretched on the couch atop a classic striped indoor pillow. She was holding up the latest edition of her favourite book series and highlighting some particular phrases with a pink highlighter.
"Really?"
She giggled and Luke strolled over to her and pulled the novel from her hands.
"Yeah, aren't you tired of being cooped up all day?"
He asked curiously taking a look at the name of the book. He assumed it was just some icky romance shit that all women read and... "Horrors and castles."
He blinked and handed back to her immediately. Kika was preparing to write a book based in the medieval times about a lecherous, proud king who led his kingdom to ruins. She just wanted to write a tragedy but with so much emotion that the readers would be able to sympathize with the evil monarch.
"Not really, I haven't had a single day off in the last five years. I'm going to make the most out of my recovery."
Kika accepted the book with a smile but too bad he'd already closed her page while looking at the name. She'll have to search for it again.
"C'mon, I'll pick something out of for you."
Luke strolled towards the closet and returned with a tonal double button crop blazer and skirt set.
"Wait, is it a fancy restaurant?"
"Yeah, unless you want to eat somewhere el—"
"Let's eat somewhere else."

Kika picked the place. A local food joint she used to bring Bloom when they wanted to try local delicacies. Luke felt out of place but he said nothing and slowly gave Kika his arm for support while the other one held a crutch.
Kika wasn't putting too much of her mind into this. Melody probably told him to take care of her and they're eating out because Rhea had a family emergency. She'll be reporting for work first thing tomorrow morning.
Kika sighed. She was enjoying this beautiful week and Luke's unmoving attention. It was a facade but she was fine with it. Once she recovers she'll bring up the divorce issue again and get this over with. The longer she's with him, the more she'll hesitate.
"I'm paying so order anything you want."
Kika's eyes broadened at that statement. Did he really think that she wouldn't take him up on that offer. This was like a blank cheque.
"I'd like an ice cream, no, three ice cream, one veggie wok, grilled king prawn, black tea with peaches, roasted pineapple and hot red pepper sauce and roast sirloin and Yorkshire pudding."
Kika just read the first three sentences on the menu gave it to the waiter. She avoided Luke's face on purpose. She did that to spite him, how would he react?
When she finally garnered courage to look him in the eye, he was tapping away on his phone. Kika's eyebrows drooped. Who was talking to? This lunch date was probably just a trap so she won't suspect he's hitting on another blondie.
"Hey, I didn't know the author of that book was from your company?"
"H-Huh?"
Luke's sudden look at her caught her off guard. She had been glaring at him for the past few minutes and then he suddenly looked up at her without warning. She wondered if he saw her frowning face or she managed to change it in time.
"Look."
He showed her his phone screen. He was going through her company's website and that book she was reading was on the list of recommendations.
"Oh, yeah. She's just a freshman at Seinfeld university in Cressida but her writing style is really mature. She became affiliated with us half a year ago."
Kika talked swiftly hoping her boring talk won't bore him out but Luke listened. He didn't break eye contact with her and he nodded to signify that he understood what she was saying.
Kika's lips formed a thin line. She doubted he listened to her at all but she didn't say anything. Maybe he felt her vicious stare and decided to dispell her doubts. Did he think she could be deceived so easily? She stopped talking and they remained silent till their orders was served.

After finishing every single thing she ordered, Kika suddenly started feeling like she should have acted more ladylike. What if Luke thought that her behavior was disgusting? She pressed her eyes shut. Why was she so dumb? She only regrets stuff when it's already over.
She had already stuffed herself, there was nothing she could possibly do to make him get a better impression of her now.
"Urgh, I shouldn't have eaten all. Now, I'll have to work out twice as hard to burn off the calories."
She tried to act like she didn't care about it. Well, she did. She succeeded in sounding like that but her regretful face gave a true thoughts away.
Luke had caught a glimpse of her face when he helped her into the car. He closed the door and strode to his seat by the other side. He wasn't the one driving today either.
"Why?"
Luke asked rolling his eyes as he sat beside her and closed the car doors. Girls and their obsession to loose weight. He had never once understood them.
Kika was silent. She was already regretful. His nonchalant reply to the situation proved that maybe her assumption was right. Maybe she really did make a full of herself.
Luke noticed her pensive face. Why was she so worried about that anyway? It's not like he complained or anything. He leaned over and chucked her chin up so they'll be eye to eye.
"Don't you know it's uncomfortable to be fucking skin and bones everytime?"
