"Slash" Shelton yelled as he jumped and slashed at the neck of the opponent.
"Amplify" Garvin yelled as he used 220 ounces of sensory energy to improve their proficiency level (20 ounces for an extra person).
"Speed Strike" Alston yelled as he made slashed at the other neck of the big lizard.
Unfortunately for the both of them, even with the amplified skill, alston swords could only make a deep gash at the Gish's neck and shelton's spear could only cut a bit through the lizards other neck.
Upon landing back on the ground the duo were surprised to see that the damage they had done had not really affected the monster.
"It's because of the difference in levels that we are losing this battle" Garvin thought.
The Gish focused it's attention on both Alston and Shelton before it bellowed a loud roar and proceeded to launch it's heads on the both of them.
Before the duo could react two barriers appeared in front of the both of them as the heads of the Gish rebounded from the impact.
"Now!" Doanne shouted as she released the two barriers that she had casted on the duo.
"Remember wesley aim for the back of the heads. It is it's weak point" Garvin said as he proceeded to use another skill "Restrict" which cost 150 ounces of sensory energy to cast for 15 seconds each extra second cost another ounce.
A white light shot out of his palm that touched the Gish's body before it's body released a white glow that dimmed.
Wesley took the chance to make a giant leap as she aimed her bow at the back of the two necks of the creatures and released it.
Shelton and Alston both moved at the same time as they struck the necks of the gish again but with more focus and intent.
Luckily, their strikes landed at the exact spots that they had struck earlier. They yelled as their weapons struck deeper into the necks of the monster.
Doanne released her barrier as she gathered the mana around her and hurled a fireball at the lizards neck.
These four strikes landed at the same time as the gish felt two bolts lunge into it's brain. Seething flames at it's back and it's neck getting detached from it's body.
After that, the necks fell on the floor and the rest of the body began to thrash around.
The scene was creepy for wesley's but she maintained her composure.
"Restrict!" Garvin yelled as two white lights shot from his hands and hit the detached necks of the Gish.
"If it manages to reattach itself, it would be disastrous for us" Garvin said.
At that moment the entire party received a notification Ding *Congratulations, your party has killed a level 25 monster*
*Distributing points.....*
*You have all leveled up*
The System announcement made the party to check their stats to see what their level was.
Doanne had leveled up to level 20, alston and shelton had leveled up to level 18, wesley had leveled up to level 17, while he had leveled up to level 20 from his initial level of 19.
Garvin understood the reason behind this distribution. He didn't cast any attack that directly affected the Gish but he only enhanced his allies and restricted the enemy.
Wesley had hit the weak points of the enemy and this gave her enough points to skip a level. Alston and Shelton had to put in effort into their attacks and thus were rewarded.
Doanne had been the one who casted the most attacks on the Gish including saving allies and attacking it.
More than half of his sensory energy had been used up from the exchange.
Doanne looked at her new stats.
It showed her level and then a few other notes appeared in front of her vision.
*You have reached the level 20, choose an evolution path.
You have the chance to pick one out of the three evolution paths based on what you spells you possess.
*Elemental Mage*
*Enchanter*
*Conjurer*
Doanne looked at the stats and the options that she had to choose from.
"Can I just stay with my current path without going through evolving?" She asked.
*Yes. But the path of leveling would be slower than if it was a developed class*
"In that case. I'll think about it later" She replied.
Shawn smiled as the tab closed "Another round of events to watch tomorrow. My timer is up" He said as he listened to the system's notification *Logging creator out of the world in 3,2,1*
His vision became blank when the countdown was over.
And that was the end of Shawn's duty for the night. Till the next day approached.
Shawn opened his eyes as he slammed his palm on the alarm clock of his..
"How long did I sleep exactly?" He wondered as he looked at the timer.
It was the usual 5am that he woke but he still felt tired and stressed like he had been overworking his body for a long time in the day.
Shawn got up from his bed and did a few stretches. He still felt a bit dizzy from what was going on as he stood up from his bed.
He hurriedly ran to his bathroom to get prepared before his mum would come to check on him if he was awake.
As he locked the bathroom door he began to brush before preparing hot water for his bath. Emily smiled upon hearing the sound of water running.
I wonder if he was going to wake up late like last week.
Shawn came downstairs to take his breakfast, the first meal of the day. His sister stacy was being fed by his mum. His brother Lucas had taken his meal already and left to meet the bus.
"That boy loves to act independent" Shawn thought.
His father Roland sat down and sipped a cup of hot tea while eating his wife's delicious meal of fried egg and grain toast.
Shawn sat on a chair as he used the cutleries to eat the home made meal. "This is nice. Mum always makes the best meals" Shawn thought as he gobbled the meal.
"Shawn don't eat to fast" Emily said as she smiled.
"You should savour your meal. After all, you are not in a rush. Eat slowly and digest it" She said gently.
Shawn listened as he began to eat the meal slowly. Minutes later, after he had eaten he got up and packed his bag as he walked to his father's car while carrying Stacy.
Roland came later and drove the both of them to school.
"Bye dad" Shawn said as he carried Stacy to her class and left to his own class.
Shawn sat in the classroom and dropped his bag. The first thing he did was to land his head on the table.
"Why do I feel stressed out?" He wondered.
"Are you alright shawn?" Stephanie appeared out of nowhere and asked.
"Yeah you rarely look tired like you do today" Harry said.
Shawn raised his head up lazily and said "Yeah I am fine I'm just tired. I guess"
At that point, the bell rang indicating that all students should come to the hall.
Shawn got up from his chair and took his notebook and other writing materials before he left for the hall.
After the hall service the first class started with the English teacher Mr Roberts coming forward. Shawn brought his books out as he listened to the class. But then the first thought hit his head "What other things should I add to the world of yorn?"
"How about trying to improve the population" Another thought entered his mind.
"What about energies?"
Random thoughts flowed into his mind as he tried to listen.
"Shawn could you answer the question?" Mr Roberts asked.
Shawn's eyes widened as he stood up and replied "Yes sir. But please what's the question?"
Mr Roberts lifted an eyebrow "Weren't you listening?"
Shawn sighed before he replied "No. I wasn't"
Mr Roberts just stared at him before saying "Answer this question..." as he proceeded to repeat the question.
The classes continued as the day went on, Shawn felt tired throughout the entire day.
When the bell rang for the ending of the school activities for the day Shawn opened his eyes and walked with clear signs that he was tired.
"What's up with you today Shawn?" Charles asked.
"Isn't it obvious?" Shawn replied.
"Not really. It's rare for you come to school and give off a weak aura like today"
"Did you sleep late?" Charles asked.
"No I didn't" Shawn replied.
"Maybe you overworked yourself" Stephanie said as she appeared beside the duo.
"It's a good thing that we can walk together and with your brother" She said.
"In case you fall asleep while going home with them" She added.
Shawn gave her a side eye upon hearing that.
"I can't sleep off in a taxi" He said.
"Ohh we'll never know" Stephanie shrugged.
