Chereads / The Locked Room Girl / Chapter 3 - Filling The Empty Vessel

Chapter 3 - Filling The Empty Vessel

After Sriya knew about the condition of Aneesha she felt guiltier for being angry with her. She wanted to redeem herself. She thought of a lot of ways to make her feel better but in the end, she realized that everything is useless. Whatever plan she came up with every plan of her needs some sort of human emotion like excitement and Aneesha can't feel excited. So nothing will work. In the other room, Aneesha, unknown of the brainstorming that Sriya is going through, was doing her work without anything in her mind. Finally, when Sriya accepted her defeat by coming out with a plan for Aneesha to enjoy, She came to her room to know more about her. After she entered the room she saw Aneesha was reading a book. When she looked at the book she read the title which was 'Ancient history of Egypt'. Sriya saw the thickness of the book and asked in bewilderment "Is it interesting?" For Sriya that book can only be used as good sleeping medicine.

"For our upcoming video game, we are thinking of using royal stories from all over the world. I'm in charge of Egypt. So I'm reading it" Aneesha said without looking at Sriya.

"But you're a coder," Sriya asked.

"I'm also a part of the research team," Aneesha replied.

"Am I disturbing you?" Sriya asked again. It was an unusual question because previously whenever Sriya felt like talking to Aneesha she just goes to her room and talk. She never cared if Aneesha is doing something or not. Even if Aneesha was busy she'll listen to her without any complaints. After thinking about her previous actions Sriya realized that she always looked out for herself only, she never thought about Aneesha. So now she thought of changing that. She will think about Aneesha first.

"Yes," Aneesha said. The reply was rude. If she would have heard it before knowing all the truth maybe she would have felt angry but now she just smiled and turned to leave.

"Is it good?" This abrupt question from Aneesha stopped Sriya on her track. She couldn't understand what Aneesha wants to ask. So she asked, "What is good?"

Aneesha closed the book and looked at the wall in front of her and asked again "Your world, where you can feel emotions. Is it good?"

"No, it is not. Many times I get hurt because of emotion but I still want them." Sriya said holding her pendant which she never took off.

"I don't understand if you're hurt then why do you want it?" Aneesha asked. This time she was looking at Sriya.

"Pain isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it teaches us a life lesson and sometimes it just became a memory that makes you feel more human." Sriya replied with a little smile on her face.

"You know after the surgery the first thing that came to my mind is that something is missing but everyone else in that room looked relaxed. So I thought maybe it is a good thing to not have many emotions but the happiness that my family had didn't last for long. One day I returned from my college early and heard my parents fighting. They didn't notice me entering to home. So their loud voice continued. I heard my mother saying that I'm a wooden block who can't be even considered human because I don't respond in a normal way. She told my father to take me to therapy but my father refused as it'll harm his reputation in society. They finally conclude to teach me how to respond to every emotion of a human and they succeeded but the problem was I became too observant I even could see through their lies and for which once I get to know that they don't want me around. They don't want the human lie detector and I realized that I could never be the normal child that they want. So I left my house when I had my job." Aneesha said it in her usual monotonous tone. It was her own story that she shared for the first time even without asking but it felt as if she is saying a story of a novel character with whom she can't relate. Maybe it is because she doesn't know why she tried to stand up to her parent's expectations.

After listening to the story Sriya thought for a while. Then she reacted as if she had an idea. Aneesha looked at her with confusion. Sriya said: "These all happened because you have learned emotions through the books not from the experience but what if you will learn it from my experience?" Aneesha furrowed her brows. Sriya continued "We can be connected by telepathy and I can share my emotions with you. In that way, you can learn better. What do you say?"

"You know telepathy?" Aneesha asked her.

"No, but I know someone who can help. I'll tell you the time get ready to experience my world." Sriya said with a wide smile.

Sriya kept her word and said to Aneesha to be prepared by Sunday 8:00 am. They're going to meet the person who can help. On the scheduled day they both came to the said person. Aneesha looked at the surroundings. It was filled with greenery with a very calm and quiet atmosphere. Even though Aneesha spent most of her life in the closed room still she could hear the nonstop noise coming from the vehicles on the road but here she felt nature, the sweet chirping of the birds, and fresh air welcomed them. While Aneesha was enjoying nature Sriya dragged her inside the house that was hidden within the tall trees. When Aneesha went inside she never expected she would meet so many people in this secluded place. All of them were meditating and in the front, there was sitting a middle-aged man who is guiding them. That person was not wearing the common orange or white color dress like the fake monk. He has a decent look with no mustache or beard. His clothing is casual with a loose T-shirt and a trouser. Sriya went directly to him. When the middle-aged man saw her he said her to wait inside. So both of them went inside a room adjacent to the meditating room and waited for him. "So this is the girl that you're talking about?" The man asked looking at Aneesha.

"Yes sir," Sriya said.

"Okey then, both of you sit on the ground, close your eyes and meditate." The man said. Aneesha wanted to ask about the qualification of the person but she thought of trusting Sriya as she is the one who found this person. Sriya and Aneesha did as per the suggestion. The man continued "Sriya try to give a short message to Aneesha in your mind and Aneesha allow yourself to receive it and try concentrating on Sriya and you'll feel the message that she is trying to give you." Like this, their session continued for 2 hours. Initially, they failed and felt frustrated but that person said "It's not a job of one day. It can take 1 week to 1 month. So do the same processes at home every day. You'll find the telepathy between you." True to his word they both felt the connection in 2 weeks. In these 2 weeks, they felt many ups and downs. Aneesha could feel what Sriya was trying to say and they both will be happy but after some time, the connection was lost. Sriya would be frustrated when that would happen but lastly, Aneesah could feel the frustration that Sriya felt when she was failing and the connection stayed. For Aneesha it felt like feeling an empty vessel with the emotions of Sriya. She saw the world of colors again but she didn't know what awaits her in the future.
