Pei Yiwu hugged her knees, and a pleasant scent wafted through her nostrils. It seemed to be the smell of laundry detergent, a faint and refreshing fragrance that eased her pain to some extent.
It didn't take long for Lu Mingyu to return. It was late autumn and getting close to winter, and Lu Yang was wearing short sleeves. Sweat was forming on his forehead due to his running.
Pei Yiwu stared blankly as he ran up to her.
Lu Mingyu half-squatted and opened the medicine box. He held the medicine in one hand and a cup in the other.
Pei Yiwu hesitated. "Coffee with medicine?"
Lu Mingyu furrowed his brow. "It's not coffee but warm water. Hurry up and take the medicine. If you keep dawdling, you'll suffer even more."
Pei Yiwu slowly consumed it, and indeed, the cup contained warm and clear water, not coffee.
"Thank you."
"No need. It's an exchange of favors. You saved me last time, and now I'm helping you. We're even."
