Chapter 23 - You're Home Late

There were lots of mosquitoes at night in the ancient village. Li Zhen sat in the RV after taking the call sheets. She looked at her phone and saw that it was already nine at night. It was only the first day on set. Did she bring an artist here or a monkey?

When she returned to the studio puffing in anger, she found that they were still filming. A slender girl in modern clothes fell from the sky and happened to fall into the arms of the Prime Celestial on the wooden bridge.

The Prime Celestial stood tall and graceful. His posture was light and graceful as he held the young girl. He carried the girl in his arms and spun while surrounded by mist and clouds.

Li Zhen was a realist and had never liked fantasy things. From the bottom of her heart, she felt that these fantasies were fake. After working in the industry for such a long time, there was an iron wall built around her heart.

Even such a famous novel couldn't dodge such a cliche plot.

Li Zhen stood behind the surveillance camera with a blank expression on her face. She had been waiting in the car for more than an hour but Song Qingli was being a stuntwoman; Su Qinqin's stuntwoman at that.

The woman was so angry that her lungs almost exploded. She took out her phone from her pocket, took a picture, and sent it to the second young master Gu.

As she was only a stunt double, Song Qingli did not show her face and only used the parts below her neck. The young girl clung to her idol's neck with tears in her eyes. When she looked at Xiao Yi's face up close, she was even more mesmerized.

'Ka–'

"Cut!" The director shouted through the walkie-talkie. "That's all for today. All stage staff, please clean up the venue."

"Do you always look at men with such passionate eyes?" Xiao Yi laughed out loud.

"Uh ... Sorry." After Song Qingli finished speaking, she withdrew from her arms in embarrassment. The stage supervisor around them turned off the lights. The directors and producers were all leaving and there were fewer and fewer people in the shed. Xiao Yi was also about to leave.

"Xiao Yi, do you have someone you like now?" The young girl suddenly asked him.

Song Qingli instantly regretted her actions. It was a mistake. How could she have asked him directly?

The man chuckled at first then his face showed a never-before-seen seriousness.

"Don't be misled by beauty in this industry. If you want to be ahead of everyone else here, don't have any crooked thoughts." Xiao Yi was looking more serious than she had expected as if he was warning her not to have any improper thoughts about him.

Song Qingli knew that he might have misunderstood so she waved her hands in denial. "No! No! I didn't mean that. How would I dare to think of you in that manner? I just want you to pay attention to the women who are getting close to you deliberately. Most of them have bad intentions."

Xiao Yi raised his eyebrows and looked deep into her eyes. He could not help but laugh. "Are you talking about yourself?"

"Huh? Anyway, don't fall in love with anyone." The young girl said in a surprisingly serious tone.

"Come back with me." Li Zhen's voice suddenly rang out, lingering in one's ears like an old demon from the deep mountains. Song Qingli was so frightened that her soul left her body. She was still rather afraid of her manager. After all, Li Zhen was someone with tricks up her sleeves.

Xiao Yi and Li Zhen nodded their heads at each other before she turned around and left.

The girl was like a kitten that was being carried on the back of its neck as Li Zhen carried her to the RV.

With a loud whoosh, the car door opened. Li Zhen's gaze swept over and Song Qingli got into the nanny van dejectedly like a detained suspect.

"From now on, you're not allowed to interact with the other male actors unless you have a scene with them, especially Xiao Yi."

"It..." It was just a simple conversation, Song Qingli thought to herself.

"As my artist, you have to listen to me. I don't want to waste any more time. This is your schedule for the next few days. I'll pick you up when the time comes. When you're free, you should go through your lines and if you have the time, you can read the original novel of this drama."

Song Qingli pursed her lips and kept quiet. She opened the script like a student being watched by her parents.

The car drove steadily. The dim light from the street lights on the street flashed across the script. Song Qingli pursed her lips as she read her lines and suddenly burst out laughing.

She seemed to have thought of something and was laughing out loud.

Li Zhen was resting with her eyes closed when she heard the laughter beside her. She frowned and looked over. "Why are you so happy?"

The young girl covered her mouth. The thought of how she was held in Xiao Yi's arms today made her so excited that even the corners of her eyes deviated upwards.

Along the way, Li Zhen could hear the girl chuckling from time to time. Every time she glanced at her, the young girl would shut up but it didn't take long for Song Qingli to start laughing again.

This situation continued until they arrived at Gu Gardens. Sister Li finally sent the girl away and Li Zhen could finally get some peace and quiet.

Song Qingli held the script and hummed a song as she skipped into the Gu Gardens. The moment she entered, she saw Uncle Jin's worried face.

"Uncle Jin, why do you look like you're constipated?"

Uncle Jin immediately made a shushing gesture. "Miss Song, please keep your voice down. The second young master is in a bad mood and he hasn't had dinner yet."

"Gu Zechuan is capable of being in a bad mood? Why? Oh, do tell me so that I can be entertained!"

Uncle Jin was stunned and he told Qingli, "The doctor said that the second young master needs to eat on time."

"Ayy...he's an adult. He won't starve to death even if he hasn't had dinner. Let him be. I'll go upstairs to rest now." Just as Song Qingli was about to leave, Uncle Jin immediately called out, "Miss Song, the second young master has been nothing but nice to you. Can you please bring him this plate of dumplings?"

 "Him? He's nice to me?"

Uncle Jin nodded his head sincerely.

The young girl was speechless. She stared at the dumplings and dipping sauce on Uncle Jin's tray. She was going upstairs anyways so she didn't mind taking them with her.

The corridor was brightly lit. The floor made of golden bricks was covered with a red carpet that made the scene look like it came out of a fantasy. The girl hummed a song and walked with a light gait. When she turned, she was frightened by a pair of dark eyes.

"Ah!" Song Qingli took a step back. She looked at Gu Zechuan's cold face and his deep black eyes. She was really frightened. He was sitting in his wheelchair as if he was deliberately waiting for her around the corner.

"Why didn't you say anything? You scared me." The young girl looked at him and thought to herself, 'The last time Gu Zechuan's father appeared, he had this same look on his face. It looks like he is really mad about something and it seems like something serious.'

She really wanted to know what had made the shrewd second young master Gu angry.

"You're late."

"It's 11:30 pm. It's not that late. Here, Uncle Jin asked me to give this to you." The girl placed the tray flat in front of the man.

"You did it only because Uncle Jin told you to?" Gu Zechuan lowered his eyes and glanced at her. Then, he calmly walked past her.

 "..."

Song Qingli's kind gesture of delivering him dinner had been ignored. Her lips twitched. "Tsk, you're also so childish. You just starve whenever you get angry."

The young girl held the tray and followed behind him, mumbling to herself. The man in the wheelchair suddenly stopped and turned to look at her.

"You seem happy today?"

Song Qingli turned to face him and said with a grin, "Would you believe me if I said I'm not happy?"

Seeing how her eyes were glowing, the man's jaw tightened and he moved his wheelchair into the room. "My hand is injuered so I can't use the chopsticks. I'll have to trouble Miss Song to feed me."

The young girl looked at his hand. He could move his wheelchair but he couldn't pick up a pair of chopsticks.
