Chapter 15 - Do You Want Power?

Yin decided to play along with the old guys demands, although he didn't know exactly how to feel about him yet. Following the loud sounds of water splashing uncontrollably in the near vicinity, Yin made his way down to the river.

The river was connected to a magnificent waterfall which rapidly spewed cold water. Yin unclothed himself and was about to bathe himself for a the first time in the past week. He had focused on walking so much that he had forgotten about his hygiene completely.

A chill shivered up his spine as he dipped his toes into the water. It was bizarrely cold! He quickly took his toes out of the water in shock.

"What in the hell is wrong with this water. It feels like it's been recently thawed out of ice!"

Yin prepared himself before dipping his feet into the water once again. This time it felt a little better, but it was still almost unbearably cold. Eventually his entire body was in the water. He realized that after submerging his entire body up to his neck it felt a little more comfortable. Although the water on the surface was moving, it didn't feel like a strong current on his body under water; and so because of the semi-constant environment his body was in, it was easy for it to start to adapt to the cold.

After bathing, Yin returned to the shack. On coming only a couple of meters away from it, Yin smelt a herbal aroma surrounding the atmosphere. Inside of the shack, the old man was sitting down on the floor with a cup of herbal green tea in his hands.

"Your back? Sit down, have some tea. Its quite good for you."

At this moment, Yin realized just how vascular the old mans forearms were. His veins seemed to be popping out of his ripped lean muscles as he took a few sips out of the steaming tea.

Yin sat down before pouring some tea into a cup which was on the floor next to him. As he tried to lift the cup up to drink it, he noticed that it refused to move.

'What's this? Is it glued to the ground?'

He tried to force it up, but to no avail. With a little bit of frustration, and even a bit of embarrassment, he used his full strength to lift the cup. It still didn't move a single millimeter.

"What the hell is wrong with this cup!? Is this some sort of test old man?" Yin finally blurted out, full of embarrassment and frustration.

The old man's face resembled that of one trying desperately to hold in their laughter. Finally, he burst out into a stomach aching laughter as he slapped his knee.

"Hahaha!" The old man laughed his ass off. "You cannot even lift a simple cup of tea? And you dare try and talk to me?"

"Talk to you? You were the one who asked me why I was here! I should have just left without listening to your stupid demands." Yin finally said as he stood up and decided he was going to stomp out of this shack and never return.

"Wait." The old man's voice suddenly sounded serious. Yin's feet were just about to exit the door.

"Sit down son. You should not leave this place right now."

The old mans expression looked rid of all grins and funny expressions.

"Huh? Who the hell are you to tell me what I should and should not do!?"

Yin spoke out of anger, but he was clearly interested in what the old man was talking about.

"Sit down. If something as simple as a cup of tea could anger you this much, how do you expect to function in the real world."

The old mans words angered Yin even more, but his point stood relevant. He was right. After thinking about it, Yin disliked that such a minor thing could make him react in such a way. So, although still slightly moody, Yin sat down to hear what the old geezer had to say.

"Why are you in the middle of the jungle. What is your goal boy." The old man asked in a stoic tone as he sipped his tea.

'This question again? He better not interrupt me like last time.'

"My name is Yin, I was born in these jungles in the Oubure village. My tribes people were killed by those from the new world, and I have been living alone. My goal... is to venture to that new world."

"Why?"

A rapid fire question instantly came out of the old mans mouth just as Yin finished his statement.

"I suppose, because I want to explore what's there. I have heard great stories about it. There is also someone I need to find."

A moment of silence fell between the two.

"Do you want power?"

Another question which was rapid came out of nowhere, however Yin didn't need time to think for this one.

"Yes. I want power, as much of it as possible." Yin answered.

"Hmm." The old mans eyes closed slightly, as he stared deeply into Yin's eyes.

Yin felt a bit awkward during this moment.

"You will do. You have the correct eyes." He finally said.

"Correct eyes? What do you mean by that?"

"Don't worry about it kid. You will probably find out when the time is right."

"Probably!?"

The old man stood up and put his hands behind his back.

"Boy, that cup was not glued to the ground like you probably guessed. It simply weighs 400 pounds, that's why you weren't able to pick it up."

"What?"

"Follow me." The old man said as he started walking out of the shack.

"So your saying you were able to pick up a 400 pound cup and I wasn't? Hah! Like I'm going to believe that!"

Yin scoffed as he quickly followed up behind the old guy.

"No, no, your right. I wasn't holding a 400 pound cup."

"Yea, that's what I though-" Yin was interrupted.

"Mine weighed 1000 pounds."

"What!? Don't joke around old man! That's insane, its simply out of this world! Its impossible with human strength to lift that much! You would have to have some sort of magic to do that!"

As Yin yelled this, a small grin appeared on the old mans face.

Yin followed the old man, talking about some insignificant things, before arriving back to the river.

"What are we doing back here?" Yin said.

"Let me show you something Yin."

The old man walked along the side of the river all the way down to the water fall before stepping right inside of it. Yin made sure to not waste any time, following right behind him.

However, as he got to the down stream of the water fall, he was slightly hesitant to step in. The small drops that ricocheted off of the rocks hit his skin, which send shivers up and down his spine once again. The water that was coming down the water fall was far colder than he could have ever imagined, it was sheer cold.

'C'mon, can you not even handle some cold?'

Yin braced himself and quickly ran through the water fall. He felt like a frozen ice cube as he arrived on the other side.

"Woah."

This was Yin's immediate reaction as he was quickly distracted by the appearance of the room he was in. Thick wooden planks lined the walls, allowing only small orange crystals made of amber to poke through and illuminate the air. There looked to be tools and supplies in barrels and boxes everywhere, and also some life-sized statues made of bronze scattered around the room; with a couple of scrolls posted on the walls as well.

"What in the world is this?"
