One hour later, Joe and Kyle sat at the counter while Kyle relayed the story to him of what had happened at the park.
Look bro, I know you were into this girl but she confessed that it was the money she was interested in all along. Just forget her and move on. You need to forget about her and the dates you had okay! Joe said calmly
Fuck Joe! Think about it, if she was in it for the money then why confess on the ninth date? Just one more and she'd have gotten the money because I am getting engaged tomorrow. I don't understand why she said those things to me! Kyle said softly
Because maybe she really was in it for the money and now that she met another guy who probably has more wealth than you, she decided to bail. Joe said impatiently.
You don't know her Joe, not like I do! I felt her and I knew she felt me but what caused this? Funny thing is, I swear I saw and smelled her at the rehearsal earlier but she would have mentioned it! Kyle said sorrowfully
You what??? Fucking hell Kyle! What if it was her? You should have told her I long time ago! Joe said in an upset tone
Anyway this is for the best Kyle! You're getting engaged tomorrow. You don't have to pay her and she'll move on! Joe said as he poured several shots for them to take.
Sam was devastated as she drove home that evening. The way he just stood there an acted like everything was fine. The way he looked at her and said he loved her. Everything was a game to him, she knew his type and she let herself fall for him. She had come to the conclusion that she was used by him for sex all along while being engaged.
Sam arrived home and walked with the bottle of vodka to her bed. Tonight however she needed extra treats because she knew this feeling all too well. She opened her drawer and pulled out a small sealed bag of marijuana and rolled a joint. She sat on the window bench seat, and looked out into the sky, smoking and drinking her pain away. Every memory she had of him, all the spoken and unspoken words Sam tried to close her eyes and forget.
She sat there for hours and cried until she could cry no more. Then she got up and dropped herself in bed and slept. She was awaken several hours later by her phone ringing. Half awake she got up and saw the eight missed calls from Kyle and she ignored it. She did that because unfortunately for him, he would be seeing her sooner than he thought.
Kyle woke up on the backroom sofá of Joe's bar and drove home. He felt he couldn't breathe when he thought about what had happened between Sam and him last night. However he had decided earlier that he didn't even care if Sam didn't love him or just wanted his money.
He knew she had to be atleast feeling something for him to confess what she did, knowing she was a date away from ten thousand dollars. He called her phone several times and she did not answer. He thought about messaging her but he felt she needed to hear him say what he had to say to her.
As soon as he walked into his room he saw the black tailored suit he had decided on wearing tonight, and he became instantly heartbroken. Kyle then remembered about what Sam had said about meeting another guy and he only then had the not dreaded the occasion.
You're going to get engaged today to Sarah and forget about Samantha Chase! Kyle muttered to himself as he grabbed the suit and walked into the bathroom.
