Queen Flories, a thin middle-aged woman walked up to a huge pure oak door and gave the door a good knock. Queen Flories shouted at the grand oak door Artemis is awake but still in bed trying to come up with a way to avoid the long-held tradition of choosing your spouse from the five randomly selected citizens in his age range. Queen Flories shouts once more at the oak door, "That's it I am coming in!!!" Queen Flories opens the huge oak door in front of her leading her to her son who is laying in his king-sized bed which is decorated with gold and silver embellishments. Artemis says, "I'm awake mother, I'm just trying not to think about today." as he looks at his mother dressed in her usual green dress. Queen Flories sits at the base of the bed facing her son, with a look of sympathy towards him. Queen Flories speaks in a soft mothering voice, in contrast to her previous screaming," I know how you feel. I was in your shoes once. I was a crowned princess once and I had to choose one of the citizens as you know." Artemis speaks wanting to know more about the story he has heard many times before as if to not directly ask for her help, "I know mother, but how did you know dad was the one. I mean you must have liked someone before him."
Queen Flories knowing her son hesitance to ask for help, and feeling he is old enough to know the truth, answers him, in a calm and caring manner, "I once loved this girl named Amber, but loving her would have been bad for the country, so I choose your father, a kind and gentle man who I knew would make my father proud." Queen Flories pauses for a while, and then in a mother-loving voice states "That's why I want you to follow your heart and not choose someone you think would make me proud of you, because I'm already proud of you, my son. Artemis, almost in disbelief of his mother's kind words, asks "Really mother, you are proud of me?" Queen Flories answers her son in almost a cheerful tone "Of course I am son. So stop hiding. I know you like that orange-haired boy. What's his name.." Artemis, knowing his mother once again knows more than she lets on, answers her pause in speech with "His name is Canis Inu. I met him when I would escape from the castle, and luck would have it he was the last name I called last night on the live selection show. Queen Flories smiling her soft motherly grin, "I knew that name meant something to you the second you said it. So why not just tell the country and pick him?" Artemis answers the question, this time in a sad tone, "I never told him my real name. I told him my name was Leon Wolfworth. I cannot tell him I am the prince, that I lied to him because I did not want him to find out! That would destroy everything!" Queen Flories, knowing her son already has a plan in place, just waiting for her approval "Then if he liked you and you liked him, the two of you would fall in love again, right?"
Artemis was satisfied that his mother suggested the plan he was thinking about answers in delight "That could work. Thank you, mother!" Queen Flories eagerly responds to her son's newfound excitement and the fact he is still in nightclothes with "of course son. Now get dressed and ready to address the public about the arrival of the selected." Artemis now remembering his duties, and noticing his mother is still in his room states "of course mother, but could you please leave first." Queen Flories stands up and walks out the huge oak door and closes it behind her. Artemis gets up from his bed and goes to his enormous walk-in closet filled with high-end suites and royal blue ties except for one bright orange tie given to him as a gift from Canis. Artemis changes out of his nightshirt and puts on his elegant white undershirt, then picks up the bright orange tie, one of his favorite things in the whole world. Artemis ties the simple orange tie around his neck and looks in the mirror. Then unties the bright orange tie and places it back where he found it, knowing wearing that tie might alert Canis of him. Then picks out a royal blue tie and ties it. Artemis grabs the suit coat that goes with the suit pants he had put on and walks out of the closet. He slowly walks to the huge oak door and opens it, showing the elegant marble hallway that it opens to.
Artemis walks down the marble hallway and stops in front of a double oak door, he slowly opens it, showing the grand marble ballroom, which is full of noblemen, maids, butlers, and the royal cameramen, that it opens to. The noblemen, maids, butlers, and the royal cameramen are either talking amongst themselves or doing their jobs. The moment Artemis walks in all the chatter stops, and everyone returns to work, as all the cameras turn to him.
Artemis puts on his usual perfect fake smile, walks up to the podium, placed right under the country's flag, and in a serious yet welcoming voice speaks into the microphones standing in a cluster in front of him, "Good morning people of Salvera. Your crowned prince Artemis Leon Hemsworth is ready to begin the old tradition of The Selection. I will begin in the same way every selection begins by naming the lucky five randomly selected. The first drawn was Miss. Kathleenia Lillie-Lu Roberts. The second was Miss. Shiba Luna Peraket. The third was Mister. Clark Jayden Vato. The fourth was Miss. Mary Abigail Hunter. Last but not least the fifth was Mister. Canis Inu."
