CHAPTER 26
SANDRO ARRIVED at the wake and saw a little girl crying, he came close to her, knelt in front of her and said:
— Was he your father?
The little girl nodded sadly as she wiped her eyes.
— He asked to tell you that he loved you very much.
— If he really loved me he wouldn't have left the house and never come back.
— Why you say that? Accidents happen.
— My mother said he was bad for people and that's why something very bad happened to him.
— Maybe he had no other choice.
— If he really loved me, he would have an option... I would be his option... love always gives us options...
Sandro hugged the girl.
— He could love people as he loved me, so he wouldn't hurt them...
Sandro was completely unresponsive to that little girl who knew more about life than he did at that moment.
SANDRO ARRIVED at work a little depressed.
— Did something happen, Sandro? — Said the deputy.
— Yesterday I had an incident where a boy was run over and died, today I went to the wake and… it's heartbreaking when you see a child losing his father so young.
— The world is really ending...
Sandro was thinking about it...
Hitler coming back... It can only mean the end of time, even more if he inaugurates a new war in Europe... coincidence, or not, he was one of the few who had participated in the two great wars, but he was the only one alive who would participate in the third...
Several times the world almost ended and somehow someone always stopped it.
Because he was thinking about that nonsense now... someone important is always called to save the world... not me...
LOVE ALWAYS GIVES US OPTIONS...
— A Real for your thoughts — Said the delegate showing the coin.
Sandro's mind came back in a whirl, he smiled and said:
— Sorry, sir, but… I'm still swallowing everything that happened, it's kind of a bitter taste that stays in our soul when we fail to save a life.
— Relax, Sandro... we do what we can, not everything that happens is our fault, you are an exceptional police officer, you are a pride for our corporation and for Brazil, but sometimes we have to do things that are politically wrong for the common good.
— Perhaps...
But love always gives us options... what does that really mean?
