A roar in the distance of a dragon spooked Shiro out of his dream and he shot upright, panting heavily. His hair was mussed but he hadn't been dreaming about dragons at all. He looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings for a few moments before he remembered where he had been staying. The apartment he'd been living in had once belonged to his dad's old friend Shiro's grandfather.
His mother had decided that moving from their old house, while not a bad idea, wasn't right and so they had sold it for a small sum of money which she still owned in trust. It hadn't felt right for her to live in another home after what happened with their last one.
She hadn't been happy there either and this apartment would be better for them both. Shiro and Keith were both grateful for that, because they could finally afford to buy their own place now. And the new place would be theirs together. The apartment he lived in with Keith would become their place together.
Just like they always wanted.
