dragons filled the night skies as Lance rose from his position on top of the wall. He watched the moon's reflection move across the water until it disappeared into the dark. The only light came from his dragonfire, illuminating the landscape with its warmth and casting a golden glow in between the buildings of the town's marketplace.
t was just after sundown, the hour that all humans were supposed to be asleep by now, but there he stood, watching the stars like a child would watch their birthday cake. He knew that it wasn't wise to do something like this, not when it was so late and he'd had no sleep since last night.
He'd spent most of that time staring at the sky, thinking about what he had lost long ago. He'd felt so alone for those moments; his mind wandering back to simpler times and memories he hoped would never return.
