Lance checked his phone noticing Zari had miss called him he ignored it to notice the door opening again. He was on edge with the man who invited him back standing there holding a tray with food and two glasses of water.
It took everything Lance had to not lash out, to hold back. He watched in fear as the man set the tray down in front of him. He picked up the glass, sipping slowly as he studied the man. This is probably another trap.
Instead, the stranger moved closer to sit opposite of Lance.
"Here take some food."
Lance glanced up at the man, taking another sip. He set the glass down staring into the man's dark eyes as he began eating the food served to him. Lance felt slightly uncomfortable with the man's intense gaze. The intensity of it unnerved him.
The man stayed silent, occasionally glancing over at Lance as if to study him but never saying a word. He was used to being stared at, but this was different.
"You really have been brainwashed." He sighed.
The statement caused Lance to stop mid swallow as his blood began rushing to his ears, causing him to feel lightheaded.
"Pardon?" Lance asked softly his grip tightening on the glass.
"Lance...I only knew you a short time before you disappeared but you seem like such a sweet kid who deserves so much love. I'm guessing the others haven't told you the truth." The man muttered.
Lance glared at him as he swallowed the food.
"Why did you kill them, Lance?" He asked in a quieter tone, sounding almost desperate.
"How do you know my name?" Lance demanded.
"Look deeply at my face and tell me you have no clue who I am!" The man insisted.
Lance looked into the man's eyes searching for any sign of deception. Suddenly the man smiled, his features softening as he reached out and grabbed Lance's hands.
"Don't you trust me?" He whispered in a sad voice.
This was a mistake. Lance struggled against the man as he tightened his grip on the boy.
"Stop it! Let go!" Lance yelled desperately.
His voice caught the attention of the man who released him abruptly allowing him to drop to the floor in shock, his knees knocking into his chest.
"Oh please. Don't be dramatic. Do you really think this is how you're supposed to act? After everything I went through to bring you here?" The man asked in a mocking tone.
Lance looked at the man in disbelief. There he went again, treating him like he was nothing. Like he didn't know Lance. He wanted to tear into his flesh and summon his sword to destroy him.
"Lance...your life is danger . I can't let anything happen to you." The man pleaded, ignoring Lance's protests as he helped him up.
"Shiro..." Lance gasped.
The man gave a smile that sent shivers down Lance's spine. Something about his expression made Lance feel very uneasy and yet he couldn't bring himself to move away.
"You need to stop before it's too late," Shiro warned.
"Shiro..." Lance choked out between heavy breaths, clutching his sides.
Shiro froze, unable to look away from the young boys shaking form. The sight sent chills down Shiro's spine. Lance was scared. So frightened and vulnerable. It took Shiro a few moments to finally snap out of his shock and step closer to him.
"I have killed...so many people." He admitted quietly.
Lance stiffened when Zari's panicked voice suddenly pierced the air. His eyes locked onto the young mans as a new sense of urgency filled his heart.
A beating on the door snapped Shiro out of his trance. He placed a hand on top of Lance's shoulder, causing him to flinch harshly. Shiro froze and stepped back quickly.
"Lance, listen to me...we need to move! Come on!" Shiro said softly.
"Wait...you still have the collar?!" Lance shouted.
"I used all the gifted magic given to me to bring you out here!" Shiro noted. "Now we have to get out of here before-"
Under their feet everything around them grew white hot. The sound of fire roaring erupted from somewhere in the distance and Lance looked up in horror as a massive explosion sounded off behind them.
[Shiro, you finally came back I see]
They both looked up in time to see a giant creature soaring through the sky. Shiro's eyes widened in alarm as he watched the monster approach. He pulled out his pistol from its holster placing it under his chin in preparation.
[If you kill it you will be torn apart, Shiro]
"Where are we?!" Shiro asked.
[Seraph's domain]
The creature circled overhead as its gigantic tail smacked the ground sending vibrations throughout the city. It descended rapidly until the tip of the creature rested just above their heads and Shiro's heart stopped dead when his vision swam before his eyes.
"What do you want with Lance?" Shiro questioned.
[He has one mission and if you get in his way then I will kill you Mr. Samurai]
Shiro gritted his teeth and lowered his arm. "I won't let you have him," he whispered.
The creature growled lowly at Shiro and flew higher into the sky. With that, all movement ceased once more. Lance let out a shaky breath, feeling incredibly confused at the sudden turn of events.
He watched as the creatures black feathers drifted around like dust in the wind. Suddenly his vision blurred and he felt a sharp pain shoot down his spine as his body tumbled forward landing roughly on his stomach. He winced at the hard fall and groaned loudly in pain.
[Get up!]
The beast roared, causing Lance to flinch violently in surprise.
"Are you insane?! How can I get up when the ground is moving beneath us?!" He shrieked, trying to push himself up.
[It's time you learn to disobey your orders.]
The creature landed on the ground directly next to him and he rolled to the side barely avoiding the creature's claws.
