Chapter 21 - Confusion

Lance was bent over in despair seeing his father so calm standing calm over his mothers corpse. She was barely dead, only a few moments away from death and her eyes were closed.

[Shiro, I can feel your regrets]

His forehead lit up a cyan blue symbol in anger only stopping himself before he could do anything further. Letting out a loud sigh silently walking to the door and shutting it behind him.

He walked down the stairs feeling like shit. Not only did he fail to protect Lance but also his mother died because of his own inaction. He made his way down to the room he shared with Aleena when his hand rested on the handle he froze hearing footsteps coming towards him.

"I will never let the seraph win me over…I am sorry, Lance…"

Aleena came to the door to smile at Shiro with bedroom eyes. He was surrendering to the madness wrapping his arms around her chest.

She placed her chin on top of his head letting him hug her for as long as he needed. Her hand reached up his shirt placing a soft kiss on the skin under his ribs, "You can never escape me..." He shuddered in her arms and she kissed him again. Her hands slowly made their way under his shirt lifting up. She pulled his shirt up exposing the bare skin underneath.

"Not in the hall…" Shiro whispered.

Aleena felt him stiffen at first, but he relaxed soon enough leaning into her hands as he moaned softly, she ran her fingers through his hair and continued trailing kisses from neck to lips. His mouth met hers passionately. Soon their kiss turned passionate, teeth clashing as their tongues danced together. After awhile her tongue found its way to his ear where she whispered.

"You are so afraid aren't you of us being seen? Did you have wife Shiro?" She laughed.

His body froze. The fear coursing throughout his veins. He looked at Aleena and smiled weakly. She took that as an answer.

"Oh darling we have done this many times and we will continue doing this many more, but you must remember that you are mine..." Aleena stated.

A sly smile on her face. It wouldn't be long until he broke. Shiro had been waiting forever to get rid of her. She was just another bitch, one who would do anything for money or power.

An explosion could be heard up stairs making them stop and look at each other in shock. Aleena stood and walked to the door opening it looking back at Shiro. Lance ran out with his father to gaze at the commotion only getting louder from above them as they clamor to the elevator.

The doors slid open allowing them all to climb inside. Everyone was quiet going up. Their destination was near the top where there were two large glass windows facing the street. The windows faced the sky above the building next door. It was a view of the city lights. There weren't any stars visible tonight since the lights blocked them from reaching the horizon. Looking across the city the lights illuminated the whole area.

As soon as the door opened Lance hopped out first noticing the elderly scientist laying on the floor in front of the window, unconscious and bleeding. He looked around for any signs of life and saw none.

"Has he finally died?" Vance laughed.

Shiro shook his head turning to glare at Vance, "It doesn't look like that to me."

Vance laughed again, "What does you know?"

"More than any of you." Shiro replied stepping closer to Vance.

Aleena pushed past everyone to find the man sitting up rubbing his head.

"Idiot!" She shouted taking in his appearance.

A paper that had been slipped into his pocket fell to the floor. Lance quickly went to snatch it up but Shiro beat him to it with a smile.

He hid it away while helping the old man up. As soon as he stepped on the ground Shiro shot a glare at the scientist.

"We need to go now."

Aleena grabbed Shiro's sleeve whispering something in his ear. Shiro frowned as he glanced back at her. He nodded and followed after the others as they rushed off. They ran down a hallway heading towards the exit. Just as they neared it Lance jumped running into someone causing everyone else to come crashing to the floor.

The boy laid there motionless, he was too scared to move. It was a younger boy with a white hoodie on who looked up from the ground. All of them looked back at the scene unfolding. Two men were standing beside the young boy staring at Lance who was holding his right arm which was wrapped tightly in bandages. The other men had guns raised aiming straight at Lance who was trembling.

"Do you not know who this is?" One man yelled.

He was wearing a black suit with red highlights. The man beside the boy stepped forward pointing a gun at the young kid.

"Answer the question!"

The boy was silent his breathing heavy as tears streamed down his face. He couldn't bring himself to say anything. The man grabbed the boys shoulder pulling him close.

"We just bumped into each other!" The boy shouted.

The men lowered their weapons as the boy who knocked Lance over put his gun to his head grimacing wide.

"Are you lying? Are you sure you don't know who I am." The boy spoke quietly.

The boy nodded his eyes locked on the floor. The men turned back to Lance.

"What the hell is your problem?" Lance muttered.

"I won't hesitate to blow your brains all over the wall behind you!" He threatened.

"Then fucking do it!" Shiro stated.

A look of surprise came over the man's face as he lowered his gun. Lance sighed in relief. The boy began to howl in laughter . Lance looked up confused why the boy was laughing.

The boy looked back at his men.

"Kill them." He ordered, "Just joking…my name is Fadi."

Shiro stared at him wide eyed as if expecting more from Fadi.

"Well I think I should leave. Goodbye!" He gave a quick smile then sprinted down the corridor. Fadi looked at his men smirking.

"Come on! We need to move! Move!" The man yelled rushing back down the corridor.

The group followed him down the corridor.
