Because he deserved this! He deserved to die here, surrounded by Galra soldiers, unable to do a damn thing except watch and listen to them torture and kill people. He deserved to die without having said goodbye, without being able to say goodbye to those who he still considered family. Without saying goodbye to anyone.
The rage that had filled him when he realized the situation was hopeless finally subsided into the hot tears pouring down his cheeks. The anger drained from his body. The despair and sadness overtook his emotions so quickly that he was barely aware he had fallen until he hit the floor.
He curled up in a tight ball, sobbing.
