Chapter 2 - The Remingtons

It was early morning, a normal day time, the sun was still rising high welcoming a new day, when the sounds of galloping horses and loud noises of the gates being open disturbed lily's quiet time of reading her novels

"They're back!!" Her maid, who was making her bed yelled as they both stared at the window, where the noises came from.

The loud stern male voices kept getting louder drawing lily and her maid closer to the window. Her maid pulled the curtains aside for them getting a better view of what was happening outside.

"Seems like another victory for lord Remington mi lady" the maid said as they both stared at the loud males outside celebrating their lord's victory.

Lily sigh as she added "As it seems" before she turned away and left her bedroom.

The maid just stared at her young lady who seems to be completely unbothered about her own father's victory. Possible because she was used to hear her father's praising every now and then, or that she already knew that he'd win before he even left for wars....

But nevertheless, she should still be proud for her father, and hopefully, she was..

...

Outside, lily was getting down the stairs when she saw her mother, lady Remington hugging her father, congratulating him for his victory.

Yyakk!! Is what Lily felt like doing, This PDA doesn't work great on her, instead of feeling aaawwh their so cute, she rather felt discomfort and tortured seeing them smooching and hugging each other infront of everyone, she sometimes wonder if they could see anyone apart from themselves when they were busy with their PDA.

"Lily!!!!" Her father called. Guess she wasn't invisible after all.

Lily smiled at her parents as her father put her in his embrace celebrating the moment with her.

"Oh my dear daughter, I told you you'll be proud of your father when I come back from that wretched war and I didn't go back on my word"

"Of course father, you never leave a chance to amaze me in your art of wars"

Lord Remington laughed outloud. Pleased by his daughter's comment, he shall forever be the luckiest father alive for having a daughter like Lily Remington.

"Oh dear daughter, you should've seen me at the war, how I slayed my enemies not giving them a chance to slay back" he started as he mimick his moves, swaying his words all over the place, diving deep in his stories of the war " and their leader, Lord sinclaor, he too didn't escape my wrath, he tried to ran but I caught him and slayed him with my sword, earning me my victory and the title the slayer of dukes"

For some reason, my father is happy about being called the slayer of dukes, all I could hear in that title is nothing but the bringer of destruction, and a human trying to take the position of the grim himself, God knows why he takes joy in being called the duke's grim ripper.

And my mother. Didn't spare me the praise " there you ho Lily. You should walk outside with pride my dear, your father brought victory to emberfall, No man will deny a girl with such a title"

Great, here we go again...

"Right!!!" lord Remington phrased. " Lily's wedding!!! It's high time for my dear daughter to finally get a duke for herself and be called a duchess"

"Oh dear father we shall not be in a rush..."

"But we shall dear lily, you're already of age to grt married why waste another day to look you for the perfect suitor?" Lily's mother added as she held her shoulders trying to knock some sense into her, and her father, Lord Remington, couldn't agree more

"Your mother's right Lily, we shall not waste another moment..."

Oh dear!! How did my father's victory moment turn into my moment?!! Lily sigh as she wordlessly cursed in her mind knowing exactly where this was going.

" We shall hold a ball tonight!!!" Her father stressed out and lily on the other hand....

Oh great!!

"Let out the word Laurence, there shall be a ball tonight, and all the dukes are invited!!!" He claimed outloud, and Lily was about to lose her appetite even more.

Her mother chuckled in utter excitement with her father, while lily on the other hand felt like burying herself beneath the earth to escape this treacherous evening that was com8ng ahead, but she knew better, her father would move heavens and earth to make her attend it, and no ground could save her tonight.

She sigh before she turned and left, heading to her bedroom, leaving her father and mother downstairs discussing about the ball.

....

One of the few things that riverfall has it's the ability to always be ready for a ball, especially when lord Remington goes to war, a ball is always held to celebrate his victory, and dukes from all over the kingdom would come, for they know this was their moment to get wives from other dukes and the lucky would even get a Remington herself!!! As they were considered the diamonds of riverfall, known for their wealth and connections with the royals, but also their beautiful daughters who never fails to catch a man's attention in everyball they attend to.

The Remington household was blessed with four daughters.

Two of Lily's sisters were already married off. Audrey Remington, now known as the viscountess, wife of lord Victor, the viscount of Alberia. And Daphne Remington. Now the duchess of duke Quinton of the Quinns. Lily and her younger sister Agatha Remington, were the only two beauties left for the men of Emberfall, as of lily was 21 years old and Agatha still 18. But they were both at the perfect age of marriage.

Agatha still had time for marriage as she was still quite young compared to Lily, but Lily on the other hand, she was the perfect age, and tonight her parents will leave no stone unturned to make that happen.

Torture, as Lily would claim, for this unfortunate night.
