The world of 111 isn't a single one. It is composed of several dimensions, layers upon layers.
A sacred device known as the "Thazeroc" is responsible for connecting them together. Despite there being only a few "worlds" known to mankind, hundreds and even thousands of them exist out there, possibly unknown.
Since the beginning of time, humans knew that they were not alone. Indeed, it held true for centuries…. as a myth. Until finally… live demons arrived into the known human world.
The primary world is the Earth as we know it. Alongside other locations (See the LOCATIONS chapter)
The secondary world is called "Harthwa", but this obviously isn't the Earth as we know it.
Harthwa has a long history of humankind in itself (not to be discussed in this section). There are kingdoms, continents, etc. But much of the history was tainted by the touch of otherworldly creatures before the people even knew it.
For centuries, beings from other dimensions had visited Harthwa – often disguised in human form – and had contributed to the human civilization in both advantageous and hostile ways. Many had been great rulers and wise men. New inventions, new ideas, new chunks of knowledge were brought on by these superior beings. Most importantly, they had introduced the art of magic.
Humans were quick learners, and their entire civilization was aware about it as equally as science.
However, as mentioned earlier, not all of them were generous. Monstrous beings spread ill teachings throughout society, corrupting the human population.
Later, when those otherworldly beings were first exposed, the people regarded the good ones as "angels" and the evil ones as "demons". Plus, now that the humans knew who they were, the otherworldly beings felt free to blow away their human covers to reveal their true selves.
The otherworldly beings were from many different worlds and races. Elves, orcs, humanoid animals, monsters, and countless creatures alike.
Once, the demonic races grew too jealous of the advancements of humanity. Thus, they launched invasions to devour Harthwa and settle there… by eliminating all of humanity.
Again, thousands of years passed with this constant battle between humans and the demons.
Three strong factions (alliances/teams) were formed – the Akaminé, the Alkynes, and the Sirutov. Each of these three organizations had their own customs, motives and technological assets. (see the FACTIONS chapter)
Though their goal was the same – to protect Harthwa from such demonic invasions in the future.
The Akaminé were spellcasters and warriors following the teachings of the superior beings. Using the power of magic, they hoped to defend and rescue.
The Alkynes were also spellcasters and warriors, but more liberal and less disciplined than the Akaminé. They ignored wise decisions and chose only the most appropriate strategies. That included using the demons' own magic against them (also carrying the risk of being infected by its long-term usage). They wished not only to defend, but also to raid the demons' own territories.
Last, but surely not the least, the Sirutov… a greatly disciplined enforcement of soldiers. They used the power of science and technology to lay waste to all unethical actions. But their primary aim is to globally maintain peace. That meant they were on the law enforcement side, too. For punishing human criminals if needed.
Sirutov defense towers are in position, aligned in a linear boundary near the middle of the desert.
The reason?
Well, you probably guessed it.
That line of towers in the desert is the last line of human civilization in Harthwa. Near the end of the last four decades, the demons had launched an attack too powerful to handle. A great portion of the landmass had been conquered or destroyed. The 3 anti-demon factions had united to distill the effects of the aftermath.
Ever since then, the Sirutov kept a watch on those borders to ward off any intruders.
