Chapter 24 - Space portal

100 years elapsed since Alexander joined Ugul, he had developed the red lotus company which was located in the red district of Ugul and liberty city, which was located in the middle of the forest 500 miles away from ugul

he also had 3 level 5 alchemists and sold level II nectar thanks to his deal with the heartofsteel family

we could say that Alexander was now a rich mage, especially thanks to his rank II nectar trade and liberty city

after reaching a certain financial threshold, his goal now was to build an interdimensional portal and seek to increase his wealth through trading

Oumros treasured the knowledge linked to the creation of interdimensional portals and was the only group in oberon who could build one.

If a group refused to follow their rules or wanted to attack them, they quickly found themselves isolated and deprived of a lot of advanced technologies such as flying ships. , portals, runes ecetera…

fortunately it was difficult to upset oumros, they even did business with the black magicians

Alexander therefore bought his interdimensional portal and installed it in his villa in Ugul, he would have preferred to place it in the Liberty city but a portal is extremely expensive, 48,000 potions of strength to be exact after this purchase, his finances melted like an ice cream pistachio under the afternoon sun

the gigantic cost of the portal meant that several mages or organizations will try to steal it or take it, oumros has foreseen this and put in a mechanism which automatically deactivates the portal every 5 years and handed it to Alexander but it was oumros who bought  back the stolen portals from their owners so they encouraged this type of business

therefore, it is better to install it near Ugul and let a rank 8 mage protect it

with all of this problems it was still worth it to own a portal , with it construction, Alexander could launch wars, he could rent his portal for a certain number of uses

he could also go to the most famous worlds, the world of darkness where the concentration of dark type elements is 100 times higher than in any dark elemental pool or he could visit the world of the goblins where different type of artifacts and items are exchanged every second

the possibilities were endless

the team who took care of the construction of the portal was made of professionals, they came a day after the order was sent and the construction of the portal lasted for 3 days after that the space gate was ready for use

the mages responsible for the construction were the famous dwarfs, known for their knowledge in the field of blacksmithing, there were also other mages with them

Alexander tried to be friendly with them but no one paid him any attention, the other mages were courteous but nothing more.

with the portal built, only the space stone was missing (stone used to generate and stabilize the space gate )

if he was still in agartha , Alexander would have to wait centuries before he could find  the said space stones or even hear rumors about it  but with the ''internal network'' of oumros , all of this was just a formality

he spent another 48 strength potion to acquire a small space stone that looked like pigeon eggs but even if it was small, it would allow its owner to travel through space, the largest stones even allowed people to travel through dimensions

Alexander organized a banquet the same day, firstly to expand and develop his influence (having an interdimensional portal is a proof of status)

second to sell spots (he intended to rent the portal) and finally to recruit mages, he only had a few level 5 mages under his command (most of whom worked as a boy/girl escort) and 11  level 6 mages

there was a lack of qualified labor

In the evening Alexander welcomed the different guests, some were merchants, others were masters or great masters in their field, the technology behind the portal interested a lot of them and given the price of the portals only a few people had the opportunity to inspect them.

he then talked with different slave traders and magical academies, the most powerful  was the silver bird academy who was interested in the portal and after some discussion was ready to exchange 10 level 6 slaves for 1 use of the portal

the rival of the silver bird academy the grey cloud academy exchanged 20 level 6 slaves for 2 uses of the portal

the silver bird was a large academy, known for having a level 8 mage behind it, Alexander spoke with one of her teachers, who was level 6

in addition to the slaves, Alexander was invited to become a professor in the alchemy department and against all odds he accepted, not for the salary which was one potion of strength per year but because of their library which was renowned to be one of the largest in oberon

plus trading with a force that has level 8 mages behind it is never a bad idea

other things happened in the banquet like some merchants who wanted to use the portal by force not giving face at all to Alexander or the heartofsteel family

Alexander expelled them from the banquet

others tried to marry their great great great granddaughter to Alexander but Alexander still wanted to enjoy his life and thus wasn't willing to settle down

Enu attended the banquet and was warmly welcomed, he talked with some peoples that he knew before and promoted liberty city

the people that knew him  started to boot licking him because he was now the leader of a small town and lived a comfortable  life ( enu received some bribes from traders and mages who were in Liberty for example for a better location of their businesses or to be the first to access rare materials)

a level 7 even applied to work with him but without an orb of obedience, Alexander couldn't trust them and no one would agree to fuse with one easily

plus they probably wanted to take advantage of the reputation that Liberty city had acquired

other merchants wanted to partner with Alexander to develop Liberty, some offered good deals and others did not, Alexander consulted with Enu and  accepted a small order of materials

the deliveries would increase the money in their bank account  and at the same time allow them to train the different mages under them (these were deliveries of materials of level 5 or under)

some groups of mages such as the witches of the abyss or the elemental researchers contacted Alexander to use his interdimensional portal ( these were groups with a level 8 or 7 mages backing them ) and they offered slave, strength potions or even world coordinates of low level world  ( low level world meaning the life there doesn't exceed level 3  ) to use the portal

Alexander, delighted with all of this, accepted , he would exchange 50 level 6 mages and 1 low level word space coordinates for the use of the portal ( 7 times )

regarding the recruitment of the mages, several level 6 mages contacted Alexander but given the terms he proposed who were not advantageous (either waging wars in other galaxies or working in a city that can be overthrown at any time by monsters) no contract was signed

level 5 mages were easier to recruit because there was a difference in power between Alexander and them, some alchemists agreed to work for Alexander and be part of his group (these alchemists wanted to work for Alexander because he had an interdimensional portal, proof of his ambition and status , for them in some years he will form a great faction, so it was a gamble )

Alexander thus recruited 9 level 5 alchemists and 1 grand master alchemist (level 6 alchemist )

unlike the alchemists who already worked for him, the new ones had to be paid, which meant that the profit generated was low but still consequent, the 10 alchemists generated the equivalent of 192 potions of strength per year)

finally a certain noble went to talk to Alexander, he was level 6 magician and was part of a powerful level 7 family

Alexander didn't understand why this noble came to talk to him, did he want to form an alliance? Did he need to use the portal?

the young man ends up saying that he wanted to buy a mage who was working in the red lotus company of ugul

Alexander had a protective policy for his mages and after politely refusing, he was about to leave but the young mage continued to talk and insisted even more

It turns out that the mage the young man wanted to buy was one of the level 5 that Alexander had recruited, so basically, he couldn't sell what didn't belong to him (well he could  but they were mages under his orders and Alexander was careful about his reputation)

explaining this to the level 6 mage in front of him, the latter then began to offer some strength potion in exchange for the level 5 mage

1,2,3... 10 potions of strength, it was an astronomical sum especially for a level 5 mage but Alexander was unmoved (he had just spent 48,000 of them 3 days ago )

plus he did not know if he could trust this mage, Alexander could sell him the level 5 mage but if word of this was heard , all of his hard built reputation would be lost

forgetting to restrain his emotions the young noble started to yell at Alexander

the conversation was like this : young noble "how dare you try and deceive me, you think that I will believe that a mage will willingly carry out this kind of work"

Alexander who was no longer looking at him told him to go out and never come back, the young noble refused to accept this and continued to shout and his voice getting louder and louder.

it was at this moment that harold (one of the mages from heartofsteel) used his sword which was still in its sheath and sent the young noble flying through the door

boom, that's the noise the young man made when he crashed outside, on the hard cold floor

he had some broken bones and it will take him some months to heal

Douglas asked Alexander if he was okay, he replied that yes, that sometimes some people lose their minds but that was not a reason to stop enjoying the evening

the banquet continued until late in the night

that same evening Alexander investigated the mage that the young noble wanted to buy this mage was called scarlett and what Alexander discovered left him thinking for a while
