Jason waited patiently for her to say something, he did want to talk to her, but had no idea what it should be about.
When her name flashed on his mobile screen, he hurriedly picked up the call, but hearing that she mistakenly called him made him angry and disappointed at the same time.
But he didn't let his disappointment evident in his voice, "If there is nothing you want to talk about then-"
"No, no there is something!" Claire hurriedly answered, she was scared that he might cut the call.
"So... tell me,"
Claire debated with herself, she wanted to talk to someone but, wasn't sure if Jason was the one, she should share this news with, "Umm, well it is about...." Claire sighed, she wasn't able to tell him.
Jason understood that she was not comfortable with sharing the news with him, "If you don't want to tell me, then it's fine we can talk about something else." He suggested.
Claire was taken aback that Jason wasn't sounding mad, he was actually willing to talk about something else rather than force her, she realized that she might have made a wrong perception about him.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" He questioned, tapping his fingers on his desk, as he leaned back in his seat,
"Can I ask you something," Claire said, she had a lot of questions for him since she got to know him, but this one was the one that made her the most curious right now.
"You can ask me anything." He assured her, "What if I give you all the money back, that you gave me?"
Her question made Jason confused, "Why are you suddenly asking me this?"
"Don't answer a question with another one, just tell me what you will do?" Claire was getting impatient, as she waited for his answer, she got up from the couch and went to her bedroom,
"I won't take the money from you, I gave you the money because we had a deal, you fulfilled your part by becoming my girlfriend, so I have to fulfill mine." Jason said, and the way he answered Claire was sure whatever she did he will never accept her money.
"Did you get your answer?"
"Hmm."
"So, can you answer my question now?"
Claire frowned, "What is there that you don't have an answer for?"
"I don't understand why you asked me about paying the money back, were you planning to pay it back?" Even though Jason asked her this question, he already had the answer to it.
Claire was silent, she didn't want to tell him that she did plan to pay him back, "If you were going to pay me back, let me tell you, don't even try, because I will never accept it." Jason said sternly.
He wasn't going to take away her money, when she did play her role properly, "But that will make you think that I'm a gold-digger." Claire muttered in a small voice, but he heard her, which made him chuckle.
"What are you laughing about?" She asked, thinking that he finds this situation funny, "Nothing, just saw a funny scene in the movie."
"Really, which movie are you watching?"
"Is that important right now?" Jason couldn't believe that she wanted to know about the movie, "Yes, why is that so shocking?" Claire couldn't understand, why does he suddenly sound so offended.
"God, don't you think anyone will find this offensive, you are talking to the man you are dating but you're more interested in knowing which movie he is watching."
Claire pouted and replied, "Well, I just wanted to know because the man I'm dating never takes me to watch movies with him." Even though Claire was just joking, Jason felt a bit hurt.
He recalled what Austin suggested him, if he doesn't try to get to know her now, he might not get a chance in the future, "Jason....Jason are you there?"
Claire's voice got him out of his thoughts, "Yeah sorry, what were you saying?"
"Please, don't take what I said seriously, I was just joking." Claire was afraid that he might feel bad because of her,
"No, not at all, in fact I just realized that what you said was true," Jason closed the files in front of him and said, "I guess... I wasn't the best guy you could have found."
"Jason, you're getting too serious, it was just a joke," Claire realized he was definitely feeling bad.
"Hey, Claire,"
Claire furrowed her eyebrows and asked, "What?"
"Would you like to spend your tomorrow with me?"
Claire widens her eyes and his words, she felt her heart thumping loudly because of happiness, but soon she realized that she couldn't got with him tomorrow as it was her first day at the cafe.
"Jason, I'm sorry.... I can't, I have some work," Claire felt as she was losing a very important occasion, but she couldn't miss her first day.
Jason felt bad but he replied, "It's fine, we can do that some other day."
"I hope we can, what about this Sunday?" She asked, "Are you trying to negotiate with me?" Jason teased her, "Maybe," Claire smiled.
Jason laughed a little and replied, "Fine, this Sunday."
Claire couldn't stop the smile that was appearing on her face, her eyes traveled to the small calendar that was on the desk in her room, she noticed Sunday was only two days away.
Jason was talking to her happily but when he saw Phil entering in his cabin, which he didn't like at all, "Claire, I have to go, I'll call you later." Saying that he hung up the call.
"Phil, why would you enter without knocking, did Austin's disease spread to you as well?"
"Sorry Mr. Kenwood, I didn't want to do that, but-"
Someone stopped Phil from speaking any further as he entered inside and said, "How have you been Jason?"
Jason gritted his teeth in anger as he glared at the guy standing in front of him, "Who let you in Jake?"
