Chapter 13 - Demons

"Well, Ruby would rather not die, Mister Rogue Demon." He seemed shock at first, but his lips curved into a twisted smile, then bursting into a fit of maniacal laughter. Although my smirk did not leave my face, I inwardly cringed with how I acted and his actions too.

"Looks like I had the right feeling about you, little girl... Or maybe you would want to reveal your true appearance?" I mouthed an 'oh' upon hearing his question. I did not expect that, though it was not really that impossible to know if you have good senses, or maybe...

"Are you perhaps some kind of a pack leader, Mister Rogue Demon?" Although rogue demons are barbaric and unrestrained, some of those who are powerful enough make packs, just like wolves, to get other rogue demons under their control. Not like it's a team or something, but simply a small group of demons with a tyrant ruling over the others.

That said, being a pack leader requires not only a strong power, but also the affinity to be more sadistic and twisted than other rogue demons.

"Ey, isn't that interesting? I wonder how you knew about the hierarchy of demons, little girl. But unfortunately, your guess is wrong. I need no pack to rule over this world." His arrogant voice echoed in the dark room and I could see how his red eyes glowed more, reflecting an untamed and violent fire inside.

"Is that so, Mister Rogue Demon? Well, not like I care anyways. Although, can I ask something?" His right eyebrow raised and I could immediately tell from his expression that he's thinking of how amusing I am.

"Well, you can, though I can't say if I would answer it." His fangs showed up as he cunningly grinned at me, making me inwardly sigh.

"Ruby Erilleian, the lady which you disguised as. Is she dead?" A dead silence covered the place and I immediately ducked when I felt blood lust coming right at me, specifically my neck.

Ah, it started.

I could hear the clattering of the metals from above and from my side, and as I turned to those directions, I could see that they were all surrounding me, enclosing me into a cage-like structure. The demon in front of me was smiling, though the condescending kind of smile, as he waved his hands and in a second, blades were coming to my direction.

With the help of my sharp sight, I was able to move immediately and evade the incoming blades. Twisting my body, jumping, and taking light steps to evade these probably made me look like I was simply dancing with the blades.

"Oh? You seem to be quite a dancer little girl, but that's not enough." As if on cue, the spiked metal balls right on top of me started to fall, so I immediately cut my palm with a knife I've been hiding in my thigh and teleported outside that enclosed trap of blades.

I was about to take a look at the demon when I felt another blood lust incoming so I immediately took a step back and in just a split second, the demon slashed a blood scythe from where I've been, with a pleasured smile on his face.

"Aaaahhh, you would be such a good offering, much more than that scarlet-haired lady." The demon said and I had to gag when I heard the lustful tone of his voice. Fucking hell.

But wait...

"Scarlet?" From what I remember, Mister Quezir's daughter had chestnut hair color, not scarlet. The demon innocently gasped and covered his mouth with his right hand. "Oh, I made a mistake, it was chestnut-colored. But I hated it, so I dyed it with blood all over again until it turned into scarlet before I sacrificed her in the circle." I felt the hair at the back of my head standing up as I imagined what he did with Mister Quezir's daughter.

But this really means that...

"It's okay, Miss Zee. Let's just finish what we originally planned. All for her. Please." The pain and anger of Mister Quezir's voice did not escape my ears as I heard him say that, so I clenched my teeth and focused my gaze on the demon in front of me.

"Now that I think about it, I haven't heard your name, Mister Rogue Demon." I controlled the dark power stored in my heart to slowly spread to my body. He seemed hesitant to answer me, but then he smiled.

"Since you've been quite an amusement, it's Grazin, little girl, but I'm also Ruby and the master of this house. And I'd rather not have any of my name be said by your filthy lips." I scoffed inwardly with his last sentence. Rogue demons are more prideful than others, so they hate it when someone treats their name like it's just nothing, may it be their real or fake. That's also the reason why there was a look of disdain and anger from him when I introduced myself as 'Ruby' and used that name in third person.

"Well, not like I wanted to say that, Mister Rogue Demon." I snapped my fingers and in a split-second, my appearance changed. My disguise was gone and was replaced with a 16 year-old girl with dark blue eyes and long, wavy midnight blue hair which has white streaks all over. Even if I can't see myself, I knew that there were white horns protruding from my head which had patterns of the night sky in a midnight blue color. Two white fans also materialized in my hands, each with the pattern of constellations embroidered in a dark blue thread. From rags, my outfit turned into a Japanese kimono that had the same shade as my hair with the midnight sky pattern all over.

A shriek made me raise my right eyebrow and when I looked at the demon, he looked strangely repulsed.

"Disgusting! What a repulsing color! Get out of my sight!" He screamed and in a second, the blades and other torture devices were out for my blood. I slightly laughed and shook my head when I realized that just as how he craved for the colors red and black, he also strongly despised the counterpart colors of these, which are blue and white.

Well, it's not like I have a choice.

It's how I look like when I take on my demon form.

Quite ironic, right?

I opened my fans and immediately slashed the air and with just those movements, all the blades coming to me were destroyed and shattered into pieces. The demon looked enraged with these as he summoned black and red flames and threw them to my direction. I coldly stared at it and raised my left hand and waving it in front, making the flame vanish like a candle being blown out by the wind.

I took a step forward and smirked when I saw the demon fall on his knees with an expression of unbelief and disgust in his face.

"No! No! Don't come near! Those colors!" He was screaming hysterically and I can't help but roll my eyes. I lifted my fan again and lightly fanned it towards the demon, making him immediately fly to the wall. He was still conscious, but disoriented. I knew that he was trying to escape, so using the blood from the cut earlier, I summoned ice to cover his whole lower body to stop him from escaping.

He screamed more and tried to melt the ice with his flames, but it was useless.

"You can't melt that, unless you kill me." I told him but he didn't seem to hear me as he continued his futile attempts to melt the ice.

"Disgusting! Disgusting! Get away from me!" I tilted my head on one side as I wondered what he meant, and I belatedly realized that he was disgusted of the light blue color of the ice.

Not that I really intended that, though. The ice that I usually summon is of a light blue color, though there are times when I can summon clear ones, but I'm too lazy to do that.

I continued to stare at his hysterics and sighed when I realized that this battle was already over. There was no one I can fight anymore when this demon just freaks out when seeing blue and white colors. How did he even live under the sky?

Well, it's not of my business, anyways.

"Well, not like I care of your hates, Mister Rogue Demon. However, I think that a certain soul would like to punish you more." From peripheral vision, I could see Mister Quezir looking at me with tears falling from his eyes.

"What do you want me to do?" His expression then became determined, anger reflecting in his eyes. "Make him suffer like how my daughter did." I could sense no hesitation in his voice, so I immediately nodded and looked at the demon in front of me.

I closed my fans and placed the tip of my right fan under his chin. He looked scared and repulsed of my fan, so he tried to wriggle away. However, before he could move an inch of his head, I locked it in place by freezing the back of his head and neck.

"Now, now. Don't be too hasty, Mister Rogue Demon. Enjoy your nightmare as I slowly cover you in this light blue ice." I could feel my blue eyes glowing as I silently casted a spell that would let this demon sleep and just continue to have an endless loop of nightmares. It wouldn't have been easy to do this on enemies which have strong mental barriers, especially with nonhuman beings like demons, but seeing how disoriented he became with the colors he repulsed the most, it was way easier to enter his mind.

At the same time, as he fall into a deepest pit of abyss, the ice that I summoned will continue to consume him, both from the inside and outside, until he would no longer be of this world.

"Sleep tight, Mister Grazin." I last whispered and I saw the despaired expression on his face before he fell under the spell. Before leaving, I froze his vocal cords to avoid hearing his screams and I let the ice consume him until he dies.

When I looked behind me, I could still see Mister Quezir looking at the demon behind me with hate. However, when he noticed me staring at him, he smiled and bowed to me.

"Thank you very much, Miss Zee." I could hear the sincerity in his voice and I slightly smiled. However, I immediately turned into a blank expression when I remembered what I needed to do.

"Make sure to teach me that high-level archery technique, Mister Quezir." I told him and he immediately nodded. He opened his mouth to probably say something, but he closed it again. His expression seemed hesitant, making me feel a little annoyed.

"What is it, Mister Quezir?" He avoided my eyes then sighed after a few seconds. "This might be rude, but I'd like to ask if that's how you really looked like, Miss Zee." He said and I chuckled with his question. It's quite unexpected to have a soul ask me that.

"I can't say for sure, but this is my appearance in my demon form." His eyes blinked a few times, obviously confused with what I said. "It's quite ironic, right? Demons are often associated with red eyes and dark colors, like black, but my form is quite the opposite." He nodded at me and I simply smiled and shrugged.

"Well, not like I can do anything about it, Mister Quezir." I flinched when I felt a surge of power coming to me and when I looked back, my smile turned into a smirk when I saw the frozen demon right in front of my eyes, with a terrified expression in his face.

I glanced at Mister Quezir who was looking at the demon with a blank expression, then turned into a relieved smile right after. I also smiled in my head upon seeing his expression.

However, this job is not done yet.

"For the final touch, let's now deal with the aftermath, Mister Quezir."

Since things are bound to get quite messy after this.
