Chereads / WINDY SUMMER / Chapter 5 - four

Chapter 5 - four

Jia awakened the next early morning, her alarm hadn't gone off yet. She was just adjusting to the different time zone rather quickly. She turned off her alarms before they could go off, exiting her cozy bed which gave her a wonderful night's sleep if she didn't think of yesterday's ending and the upcoming event for today.

It's been a week since the girl come to live with the Carters. Today would be her first day of school. She spent her week getting her uniform and resting her pretty head for this 'exciting' day.

The girl spent two hours pairing different pieces of the uniform together, eventually settling on a cute outfit. She grabbed her Chanel tote and slid on her ruby shoes.

Her shoes echoed through the hall as she walked downstairs to have breakfast with The Carters. They turned to look at her when she arrived at the table.

"Goodmorning." She greeted them, a smile resting on her usual pouted lips. They responded with their greetings.

Jia grabbed a powdered Beignet from the center of the table, dipping it into a sweet sauce. Her jaw jumped at the sudden attack of sweetness. Her stomach was in heaven as it received the one dish it craved at all times.

"Jia, wanna go to school together?" Ian asked his sister, who was in her world filled with beignets and music.

"Okay, will you show me around when we get there?"

"Yeah, we should leave now to have some time for that."

Jia grabbed two more beignets into a napkin and ate along the way out of the house. Ian followed right after her, he grabbed her bag she forgot on the back of her chair. He slid it on her shoulder, as he passed her to grab his car keys.

In the family garage, there were many cars. One for every member of their family, besides Jia who'd just appeared.

The two got seated in Ian's Benz, immediately driving out of the residence. The drive to school was about 20 minutes, they were lucky enough to not get into bad traffic. The duo sang pop songs during the drive, very off-key.

Pulling up to an open parking space, students were already waiting outside to see a glimpse of the Carter son, Ian was popular 'what a surprise. Girls squealed and whispered to other girls, even girls with boyfriends all about Ian.

What none of them expected, was the Girl in the car beside him. Jia's presence made most of the girls ache with jealousy or envy. Unfortunately, none of them knew Ian was just her brother, but they'd probably still be full of hate.

Pushing the door shut, Jia walked around to the front of the car to stand next to her brother. His eyes were glued to his phone, only glancing up at Jia to look at her and not anywhere else.

"First stop, the office." He said, walking off into the building with the girl.

While Ian always paid attention to his surroundings and was cautious about them, he felt his social anxiety about to completely take over his mind. Today was different, his sister was with him and people were about to act differently. He didn't think properly before inviting his sister to ride to school with him. Jia was in a danger zone on the first day, he was going to make it his responsibility to keep anyone who bothered her in check.

The tour of the school took longer than expected, but they still had time to get to their respective classes. Ian left his sister in front of her class as he had his own to get to.

Jia entered her classroom, seeing more than half of her peers were already there and seated. She looked around for a seat, doing her best to ignore the stares from everyone. A man with blonde hair, a beard, and round glasses walked up to her, "Hi, are you supposed to be in 304?"

"Yeah, are you Mr. Miller?"

"Yes I am, you're Jia, correct? My daughter is a fan."

"Oh really, does she go here?"

"No, she's in middle school, she'll be here next year."

"I'd love to meet her," Jia spoke to the teacher with a smile on her face, wishing he'd just ended the conversation already.

"She would freak out..." There was a moment of silence when Jia didn't respond, instead just staring at him. "We have assigned seats, yours will be in the very back second row. Don't worry about all of the assignments you've missed due to not being enrolled. We also have a test today, don't worry about it. Just sit back for today, begin learning tomorrow."

"Okay, nice meeting you sir."

Jia walked off to the seat she'd been assigned to, placing her bag on the table in front of her. Just as she sat down, a group of teens stood in front of her table, staring her down.

It was rude to just stare and not speak, so Jia took the first initiative, "Hi, I'm Jia."

"Ashley. I get that you're new here and you're 'Famous', but you need to learn your place. You can't just walk in here and expect the world to kiss your ass."

Jia was not at all stunned by the girl's attitude, she wasn't the first girl she'd met like that. She succeeded in the final lineup for a reason, which guaranteed her spot was permanent. Before she could speak up, a boy then spoke to her, ruder than 'Ashley'.

"We don't want sluts here." He laughed with his friend, who playfully punched him in the arm.

Jia stood up from her seat, to face the entire group of students, "I get that you're bothered by my existence, I'm not gonna apologize for that. I know my place, you don't know yours, which is not at my level. I can tell from how immature you all are..."

"And you...why are even here? I'm not taking part in those disgusting games boys like you love to pin on pretty girls. I bet your family's money is all you have going for you, I hope you become the heir to whatever they have. You deserve to lose it all. Also, don't slut shame, that's not cool."

The bell rang as the final students entered the doors,

"Why are you still here? Get the hell out of my face."

The group was red-faced and furious as they walked away from her table to their seats. Although Jia was just defending herself, she was sure this would come to bite her in the ass later if they were immature and childish as she thought they are.

Mr. Miller gave out test papers to his students, intentionally skipping over Jia. The girl took out her phone to watch videos and like posts until the class doors opened with a bang. They startled the entire class, because of how sudden and loud it was.

"Valentin, nice of you to join us."

Jia froze, looking towards the door. There he stood in all his glory, the bastard.

"Nice to see you too, Mr. Miller."

The man rolled his eyes, "Take your seat, don't disrupt the test. You won't be taking it now, you'll have to catch up."

Valentin walked to his seat, pausing mid-way after seeing his deskmate. He smirked and slid into the seat next to Jia. The girl glared at him, he held his hands up in a surrendering motion,

"I come in peace, no need to tase me again."

Jia rolled her pretty eyes at the 'funny' boy.

Her actions made him smile,

"Oh, come on. We can't be friends?"

"No."

"A response, finally."

"Give me one reason I should be friends with you?"

"I can think of many...like..."

Jia raised an eyebrow at how long it was taking him to find a reason, although 'He had many. She turned her attention back to her phone as he sat in thought. A notification popped from the top of her screen, one of her good friends.

Jason was one of the first people she met when joining the company. He was one of the few trainees that had already been confirmed for debut. Sadly, his debut was canceled and he moved into another company to debut successfully. His group was very popular in Asia, and even Jia herself became a fan.

I miss you, life is boring without you here

Jia smiled at the text, but before she could reply her phone had been taken out of her hands. She looked up to stare at a furious Valentin, who was glaring at her with the phone squeezed in his hand.

"What the hell? Give it back."

He stood up from his seat, still glaring down at her,

"Who the hell is Jason, huh?"

He asked her the question loudly, everyone turned their head in their direction. Jia stood up from her seat as well,

"My friend. What's your problem?"

Valentin scoffed, "Why are you texting boys when you are promised to me? Are you stupid?"

"What's with all this promised stuff, I've made no promises to you. Give me back my phone."

Mr. Miller walked over to the two teens,

"Mr. Kellogg, give Ms. Han back whatever you took from her. After that, both of you report to the counselor."

The boy dropped her phone onto the table, grabbed his bag, and stormed out of the classroom. Jia couldn't care any less about where she went. She grabbed her phone from the table, analyzing it for any scratches or cracks.
