Chereads / Crying Swordsman / Chapter 27 - 4

Chapter 27 - 4

On the roof of one village hut, a baby could be seen meditating.

With each breath, clear energy traveled to his lungs. Specks of light could be seen swirling around him coursing through his fingertips traveling to his veins like a calm beautiful river, until they were absorbed smoothly into his heart like the clearest and softest fabric.

'The flow is too poor. To think I, the great Grid, had been reduced to this pitiful state,' the baby thought with regret and annoyance.

This baby's name was Grid Locks.

In Arkenheim, the name Grid Locks was feared by everyone. Among the most powerful existences, he was arguably the most dangerous one up to date. If he wanted to, he could take over a country all by himself, and wipe out armies like a natural disaster. In other words, Arkenheim feared him.

He had many titles: Gravity Demon, Pusher, Lord of Gravity, Top 1 talent, the most dangerous person in the planet, the massacre machine, disaster level threat, Asteroid, etc. Obviously, he was feared like a god.

However, unknown to the world, Grid recently received a very serious injury which had forced his hand to sacrifice a chunk of his lifespan, turning him to a baby who should be still be sucking and squeezing his mommy's breasts. Hence, he was forced into hiding.

'I curse this fate.'

After he finished meditating, he opened his baby eyes and hissed beneath his teeth. Just thinking about what happened infuriated him. Just thinking about all the time he would have to use to deal with his injury in the future also infuriated him. Just thinking about wasting his time here when his competitions were getting stronger haunted him.

'?!'

Suddenly, Grid the baby heard unfamiliar footsteps beneath him. He instantly realized that they belonged to none of his companions who should be protecting the area.

Grid immediately concealed his presence by lowering the energy force around his body. While he lost most of his power, he could do something this simple just fine.

If the intruder was decent, he had to use at least this much power. But if the intruder was pathetic, what was the harm in doing preventive precautions? Still, he just got pissed even more because he just used his hard-earned flow!

Grid eventually saw the intruder's appearance.

It was a young man, probably in his twenties. He had long black hair, but he couldn't see his face clearly since his hair was far too messy. He doesn't have a good build, despite a decent height, which clearly indicated his lack of exercise. He also seemed to be slightly injured.

But what made him very peculiar were his strange-looking clothes. Despite his constant travels, he had never seen such strange-looking clothes in any country.

It was also very alarming that he had come out from the same house he was just training at. If he wasn't meditating, they would have crossed paths already.

'Where are the people who are supposed to be guarding these place?'

Grid momentarily scanned the area from the roof of the hut and saw three men either sleeping or doing useless activities.

'Those bastards are courting death! I will rip them apart if I can!' He thought.

With his eyes, he continued to follow the stranger who was walking like a lost kid, but at the same time, was making him look kind of suspicious.

'Who is this strange-looking person? Is he looking for something? Is he looking for me?'

The clouds then covered the sun, making the surrounding appear a bit darker. Seeing this, the baby on the roof suddenly smiled arrogantly.

Seconds passed and then his baby body progressively started to get bigger, undergoing a massive change and in the next moment, he became a full-grown adult!

He became a young man in his twenties, just like Alex. He had long bronze hair, sharp jawline, and crimson red eyes. On top of this, his skin looked to smooth, enough for him to get mistaken for a woman, but this was complemented by his amazing lean physique that made him look like a top tier model.

Giving no time for the intruder to attack, Grid summoned a sword out of nowhere. He drew the sword from its scabbard and leapt. In the next instant, he was on the ground pointing it at the intruder's nape.

As a smirk appeared on Grid's face, several other men started to appear in the background surrounding Alex, drawing their weapons as well.

"Lord Grid, are you all right?"

"Sorry sir, we have already searched everywhere, but it seems he's here alone."

"It seems?" Grid's brows furrowed in annoyance.

"I have not detected anyone. It feels like this guy suddenly appeared out of nowhere."

Hearing them, Grid didn't seem satisfied. His whole expression was screaming annoyance. He then opened his mouth, sliding the tip of the sword further towards Alex's nape.

"Identify yourself."

To Alex, the threatening voice sounded literally like death was behind him. He didn't dare move.

"Didn't you hear me? Identify yourself!"

Alex could now feel the sharp point already drawing blood from the back of his neck. At this time, it's like he had returned back to reality. When he realized this, he calmed down somewhat.

'Such bad luck.' He merely thought before finally answering, "I'm Alex Carlchester."

"What brought you here?"

Alex was no longer in panic. He slightly glanced at the others who were also armed, and was able to figure out there were four of them, including the person holding the sword pointed at the back of his neck. And based on his voice, he was a man, also young, just like him.

"I merely found myself here."

"You expect us to believe you?!"

Grid cut off his subordinate speaking out of nowhere by glaring at him with the same annoyance in his face before opening his mouth again, "Don't do anything stupid. I ask the questions, not you. Do you know me?" he then said, bloodlust oozing out of his voice.

Alex could feel it. He could feel the killing intent behind him.

When he thought that he could get murdered right now, he actually felt a bit of peace.

"No, I don't know you. I never heard your voice nor seen your face. I'm afraid you kill me if I turn around to see it." Alex answered calmly.

"Hm, you don't seem to understand your situation. I kill you." Grid then said with real killing intent behind his words as if he would not hesitate to cut down his throat at any moment.

Seconds passed.

Then, Alex responded.

"I'm not afraid of my death."

Hearing this, a slight smirk appeared on Grid's face as if thrilled at his answer. Then he started to chuckle. But it was not the end of his threat.

"Your death, huh. I understand. I seen many of your kind, but what are you going to do if I find your loved ones and kill them instead?"

Alex did not open his mouth immediately.

He momentarily imagined what would he do if that had happen.

"I will probably go crazy, but you are way too late for that. All of the people you're talking about are long dead."

Hearing this, Grid and his escorts was shocked. But Grid's expression returned back to normal quicker compared to his escorts.

"It appears I have to kill you then."

"Do it then." Alex said with no hesitation.

Grid's crimson eyes began to feel even sharper. Yet, he did not attack yet. But at that moment, it felt like he was imagining thousand ways how to kill the man in front of him.

"Turn around." He then ordered in a tyrannical tone.

Hearing him, Alex obediently turned around but before he could even move properly, the air around him suddenly got heavier, and a mysterious powerful force sent him flying to the wall with a loud bang.

When the dust settled down, Alex could be seen kneeling weakly in the ground with blood flowing out of his nose.

'What?! What happened?! What is this?!'
