Chapter 33 - THE EXECUTION.

Scorpion X was in his warehouse inspecting his guns, then he receives a phone call from an unknown number. He breathes in, then picks it.

'Hello? Who's this?' Scorpion X asks.

'Is this Rodney's dad?' The caller asks. There's a sudden pause. Scorpion X frowns.

'Is he in trouble of any sort? Who are you?'

'I'm an officer. I called to tell you that he… he was involved in a crime… We gave him a chance, but he made a wrong decision. He was shot dead, yesterday. He's dead, you can come and claim his corpse.'

Scorpion X could not believe it. His eyes were wide open and bloodshot. His mouth shakes as he drops the phone, immediately. 'Rodney isn't dead, no he's not.' He calls Rodney's phone, but it wasn't going through. He smashes his phone on the floor. He grimaces, and then yells.

'Who shot my son?! I swear, I'll wipe out his whole family.' He breathes deeply.

His gang walks to him.

'What's wrong, boss?' A short guy with a chin strip beard, asks curiously.

'I want information on the person that shot my son. I want information on what happened to my son, fuck damn it!' Scorpion X looks over to the short guy. 'Get me Rodney's friend, at once.'

Rodney's friend was brought to Scorpion X, he sat on a chair, watching the young boy being dragged into the room. 'Sir, please what did I do wrong?' He whimpers.

'What happened? I told you to protect Rodney. Just this little job, and you failed me. Scorpion X says holding up a revolver firearm.

'Please, don't kill me. I tried to stop him from going out, but he refused to listen to reason.' He says in fright.

'My son is dead, just because you didn't do your job. I'm sorry, Larry.' He points the gun at Larry's head, and pulls the trigger; the bullet pierces his skull, the sound roared loudly, and he falls lifeless.

'I want everyone involved in my son's death, to be slaughtered.' Scorpion X says.

The date of Jane's, Mr. Williams' daughter's wedding reached so fast. After the wedding they proceeded to the reception.

The champagne flutes shimmered as it was raised in a toast to health. The atmosphere was calm as the violinist played skillfully, a harmonious sound and melodious music. The guest made their way into the mansion, arrayed with glamorous wears.

Li Chang was in a car, just outside the manor. His eyes were firm on all the guests that arrived; he was waiting for the senator's arrival. Then suddenly, a flashy Limousine approaches the manor – It was the Senator. Li Chang's face beams as soon as he sees him entering the manor.

'It's show time!' He says. He starts his car's engine, and comes out of the car. He walks a few distance, then he pulls out a detonator. He pushes the button, and the car explodes loudly, shattering it to pieces.

The security officials were alerted and they ran to the scene, giving him enough time to slide into the entrance unnoticed.

Inside the manor, the ambient music made everyone merry, as they danced slowly and gracefully.

Li Chang wore a hat and a suit. He was disguised with a fake beard, and a dark shade of sunglasses. His eyes were fixed at the senator.

'Wu, where are you now?' Li Chang asks, as he touches a device.

'…I'm right beside the senator. He is surrounded by people, but no worries; I will have him tied in no time.' The ear device beeps, and the call disconnects.

'I pray this goes as planned.' Li Chang says, he parades the party. He moves around the catch – the senator.

The violinist continued playing melodious rhythm, he was reminded of the happy memories he had with his family. He just went on and on, playing with all his heart to it. How was his mom? He didn't know. He gapes at the senator, as soon as he saw him.

'What's he doing here?' The violinist asks himself. He could hear it all; the harsh words the senator told him. He felt the pain coming back. He wished he never saw him there.

'You're a shame for a son. I never thought I would be the father of a mess like you.' The senator would always say to him. He felt the rage, but he kept playing, amidst the troubles.

As the senator was still speaking to his entourage, Wu came by as a waiter. He gives the senator a drink, and he consciously pours the drink on the Senator.

'I am sorry sir; it's my bad.' Wu apologizes. The senator was livid. His eyes were about to pop, but he had to act "nice" in front of the people.

'Mistakes do happen. Show me to the restroom.' The senator requests.

It was exactly what Wu needed – A chance to get him away from the crowd.

'Of course, sir.' He smiles as he leads him to the gents. The senator's security wanted to come with him, but he gestures them to stay back.

Wu carries him to a place, at the corner of the building. He injects The senator a rare chemical with a syringe on his neck. He pushes down The senator and holds him down, until he looses consciousness completely.

It was time to execute the next step of the plan: Get The senator to the basement. He had to be very careful. He phones Ruòxi and tells him to come to the location.

Mr. Williams walks in front of all his guests.

'It's time to present the newlyweds.' Mr. Williams says. 'You all know my daughter, Jane. You knew her as a child. She grew from a child into a fine woman. A woman that can take care of troubles fearlessly and courageously. A woman that I'm proud to be a father to. Today marks a very special day for her, and for me, and for my entire family. Today marks the wedding of my daughter, Jane, and Senor Pablo Emilio.' There was a clatter of applauds.

'I can't be more excited to know that my daughter, Jane, is in safe hands. Senor Pablo Emilio is not only a son-in-law to me; he's part of my family, and my son. I'm very happy that Jane got married to a man like him. I wish them both luck, in this long journey. Side by side they will stand strong against every troubles that arise. I give them my blessings.' There was a clatter of applauds as Mr. Williams finish his speech.

Li Chang kept on looking for a signal, a call – Something to tell him that The senator was already in ropes; tied to a chair. It couldn't be more better seeing the senator beg for his life, Li Chang thought to himself, smiling sheepishly, and then he turns to face the violinist, who seemed restless. The violinist finishes the music, and bolts to the restroom. Li Chang was curious about the violinist. Li Chang follows him closely: he knew he had seen this guy before, somewhere, somehow. He racked his brain hard to remember where he saw this guy.

The violinist enters the restroom. He forms his hand into a bowl, letting the water from the faucet flow in. He pours the water on his face.

'Dad, I never knew I would see you again.' He whispers to his reflection on the horizontal long mirror on the wall. Words from the past flies into his head, he remembers his little sister begging him not to leave. She was about 11 years of age.

'Please, brother don't go.' She said sadly, holding her arm. His mom was there begging his dad to change his mind, but his dad just frowned at him.

Li Chang was behind the restroom's door, which was ajar. He didn't understand what was happening to this guy, but he didn't care. He had a lot on his mind: plans about the Senator's murder. He leaves the gents, and calls Wu.

'Where are you?' He asks.

'I'm in the basement. It was a close-call carrying the senator down here; we covered him with some clothing and put him into…'

'Safe the details. It's good you have him down there: I'll be right there.' Li Chang ends the call.

Vanya was in her mom's room, right beside her mom's four poster bed. She couldn't think clearly – her mind was clouded with her recent kidnap. She knew her father to be a respected and honest man, who wanted to only see the smile of his daughter, his wife – his entire family. She couldn't imagine anyone who would try to hurt her caring father, or worst, her herself.

'What's on your mind?' Mrs. Theodore asks, sitting up on her bed.

'It's nothing, mom. I'm very happy that you're alright. I don't know how I could have felt, if you're not.'

Her mind was full of thoughts of the man, who kidnapped her. He didn't hurt her a bit. This was the first time she had been kidnapped, but she heard that kidnappers were ruthless, and have no mercy on their victims. This man was different, he took care of her as if she was his sister. She also knew one thing, this guy displayed his resentment for her father whenever he heard his name. He would break objects, his eyes will turn red from anger, his hands would shake, also. She didn't want to let herself believe that her father was a man, who would cause pain to another person – she trusted him so much.

'Your name is Vanya, isn't it?' Mrs. Theodore asks. Vanya was quiet for sometime. Her smile spreads through her silky face.

'Mom, do you remember me?' Vanya asks, excited.

Mrs. Theodore was quiet. She looks at the excited girl. She didn't fathom the happiness she felt seeing the girl smile.

'I would love to remember the past – I feel a strong connection with you. I would love to remember the sweet loving girl, sitting beside me. But… I don't know if I would ever remember anything. My old memories seems like they've been lost forever.' She utters sadly.

Vanya's smile contracted into a sad look, although she was happy that her mom, at least, knows her name – Someday I'll see my mom back to her old self, she thought.

It was a Saturday, and Angela was supposed to be dismissed early. She walks into the room to tell Vanya that she was ready to leave for the day. She was nervous standing in front of Vanya; she had always been. Her hands would shiver, anytime Vanya moved a step closer. Vanya noticed this.

'What's wrong, Angela?' Vanya asks.

'It's just that I'll be leaving for the day. Do you still need me?' Angela asks.

'It's just that I'll be leaving for the day. Do you still need me?' Angela asks.

'No problem; You can leave when you're ready.' Angel's eyes were fixed at Vanya's. It was like she was about to reveal about to reveal a secret – a very dark one. Her mouth shakes a bit. 'Thank you, Vanya.' She breaks the awkward silence, and walks out of the room, nervously clutching on her gown.

Mr. Myles dropped the thought of extorting money from the senator, through blackmail, seeing how dangerous it was. He had to uphold justice; and submitting the evidence to the police was the only way to do this. As he was thinking hard, Oliver walks to him. He recognizes the phone Mr. Myles was holding, it was Charles' phone for sure.

'Dad,' Oliver calls out to his father. 'You found the phone; I've been looking all over for it.' Oliver says.

Now it was time for Mr. Myles to ask the question of this phone's origin. He looks Oliver with a questioning stare.

'Who gave you this phone?' He asks.

'It's Charles', he wanted me to check out the phone. I wanted to give him back, but I couldn't find it, but now I've found it.' Oliver says.

'Did you see it's content?' Mr. Myles asks.

'No, it was out of power. Dad, why the questions? Do you want to buy the phone from him?'

'No. There's something you should see.' Mr. Myles puts on the phone. He taps on the screen-displayed button on the phone. The video of the senator starts to display on the screen.

Oliver was shocked to see what was in this phone he collected from Charles. He knew a little about Senator Theodore, and the fact that he was Vanya's dad. His mind diverted to the verity that Vanya had been absent from school for 3 days, which seemed like centuries to Oliver. _ Is she alright? He asks himself. –Why was she absent from school? His mind was instantly engulfed with fear; it reflected through his face. He looks at the phone, aghast. He didn't even care how this video got here. He felt the urge to check if Vanya was alright, but it will be insane if he tries to safe her from her own dad.

'Oliver. Oliver, the video has ended.' Mrs. Theodore brings him back to reality. 'What were you thinking about?' He asks. Oliver was mute. He just wanted to see Vanya safe.

Vanya sat on her bed. She missed her room a lot, especially when her mom enters to tell her a story, or to sing her a lullaby. She remembers a poem her mom taught her when she was having troubles with her grades – She could now understand the meaning of the poem now. She knew what every word meant.

#Title: The Floods that come in the night.#

#A raging flood; a deluge. It comes and destroys the ant hole, destroying their hope.#

#A flood that comes in the night when everyone sleeps, it washes away what they labored for#

# Despite the flood, the ant folks are determined to rebuild what they've lost. They know the flood will come back again, but they stand strong.#

#Little by little; pebble on pebbles; steps by steps, they rebuild what they've lost.#

#They're determined to overcome every challenge that life brings. They don't loose hope, no matter the problem.#

#Failure in life begins with the lost of determination; a drive that keeps you going.#

#Don't loose hope on what you love.#

#Don't ever lose the drive to succeed.#

–Her mind was filled with the words of this poem. Her eyes were slightly closed when she noticed a small box, sitting on her cupboard. She remembered it was a gift from Oliver on her birthday.

Vanya smiles as she saw Oliver. He walks to her calmly.

'Happy birthday to you.' He told her, giving her a box.

'Don't open it until midnight.' Oliver said.

Vanya forgot all about this box. She picks it up. She opens it. There was a letter inside, and under the letter was a necklace, which had the word "friend" inscribed on it. She picks the letter and unfolds it, and reads.

< Vanya, I didn't know you, nor did you know me, but you stood by and assisted me in the search for my mom. You did all you had to do, just to see a stranger happy. Every time, you made me feel like the luckiest friend, ever. I can't ever thank you enough for your help.

Please, take this necklace, not because it's expensive, but it's a gift from my heart. A gift from a friend to his most special friend. I wish you the best birthday, ever. And I pray that all your wishes are granted.

Yours sincerely,

Oliver. >

Vanya was touched by the letter, the gift. Now, she thought about Oliver, just to distract herself from her impending problems.

The Senator was unconscious. He was tied to a chair, right in front of Li Chang. The vase was brought down to the basement, and the weapons were brought out. The senator moves a little, he opens his eye slightly. He was as terrified as hell; he almost collapsed when he saw Li Chang with a pistol to his face.

'What's up, Senator? Are you shocked to see me?'

Li Chang touches The senator's face with the gun's muzzle.

'It's been a long time, Senator. The last time we met, I was horrified that I was going to be jailed. I begged the court for a better judgement, but you bribed the judge, didn't you?' He cocks the gun, and points it at the senator's neck. 'I want to kill you, but as much as I want to kill you, I want to make you suffer every inch of how I suffered in that hell of a jail. I knew this day would come.' He collects a pair of scissors from Ruòxi. Slowly makes it more painful.' Li Chang smirks, holding the scissors to the senator's neck.

He opens the scissors handle, and almost put it into the senators right eyeball. The scissors blades were so close to his eyeball. Then suddenly, he hears a gunshot right behind him. The bang roared loudly. He turns to see Ruòxi, who was down on the floor, in the pool of his own blood. An open bullet wound was on his chest.

Scorpion X was right on the staircase, leading down to the basement. He was holding a pistol, and he had a frown on his face.

Li Chang points his gun to Scorpion X to return fire, but right behind him, he felt an object placed on his head – It was a gun.

'Don't move, or I shoot,' Wu warns. He collects the gun from Li Chang.

'I trusted you,' Li Chang says, sounding pathetic.

'Of course, you did. Li Chang, you boast to be smart, but yet you're foolish. You told me that no one can be trusted, but you violated your own rule.' Wu smirks.

Scorpion X unties The senator. 'You came just in time. I would have been blind, if you came a second later.' The senator says, then he turns to Li Chang.

'Are you surprised? Ha! Money can change anyone in few minutes; a friend into a foe, an enemy into a companion.'

Li Chang was disappointed. 'So, Háoyû was innocent?' Li Chang murmurs.

'It's obvious he was. Anger can cause you to make the most irrational judgements. You're a slave to anger; your temper is your greatest enemy,' Wu states. 'Háoyû saw me rescue the girl, but I threatened to kill his family that are living in New York. I was the one who put him in this gang, so he was frightened. I also promised him some money for his old sick mom. I'm a genius.' Wu smiles, pushing Li Chang down to the chair. He ties him to it.

Li Chang had ran out of ideas. He was really caught off guard. His phone vibrates in his pocket – Charles was calling.

'Pick the call,' Scorpion X orders, and Li Chang obeys.

'Li Chang, I saw Wu with The senator, recently. I doubted this fact, but now I am certain of what I saw. I followed The senator, that night Vanya was rescued. He was wearing a mask, but he pulled it, when he entered his car. It was shocking,' Charles says over the phone.

'I think your findings are too late. MWM.' He disconnects the call.

'Who was that? He knows so much,' The Senator utters.

'It's Charles: a street boy, who was employed to spy on you. I forgot all about him. We need to get him, too,' Wu reveals.

Senator Theodore looks at the scissors. He had a mischievous smile on his face. 'Hey, tiger. I think I will rip off your eyes, like you wanted to do to mine.' The senator picks up the scissors. 'Slowly makes it more painful, ain't that right?'

The violinist was behind the basement door, watching carefully. He followed Scorpion X down, when he suspected he had seen Scorpion X before now. He had seen Scorpion X shoot a guy, while he hid. But Scorpion X was never caught.

He starts videotaping, but he was shock to see his dad there.

'What?' He blurts out loudly, alerting Scorpion X, The senator, and Wu.

'Who's there?' Scorpion X walks to the door with his gun's aim fixed at it. The Violinist was now frightened. He runs to the first floor, and Scorpion X ran closely after him.

Now, it was only Wu, who was armed. Li Chang had to let his talent have a better part of him – He is a master planner. He had to do a hat trick, or have something under his sleeves. He watches every movement of Wu. Wu was quite alert, and he would pull the trigger, if Li Chang posed as a threat. With a useful skill Li Chang learned, he was able to untie the rope that bounded him. He breathes deeply. He felt goose pumps all over his body. Wu points the gun aim down, and focuses his attention on the door. The moment The senator bent over to rip off Li Chang's eye, it was now or never; it was time for his plan to work. The scissors came nearer to his eye, slightly touching it, he loosens the ropes. He snatches the scissors, and as Wu turned to shoot, in split seconds, he hurls it to Wu's eye. It worked perfectly. The scissors tore into Wu's left eye, and out of pain, he drops the gun. The senator was still confused on what to do. Li Chang heads the senator, stunning him for sometime. Li Chang rushes for the gun, and he grabs it firmly. He stands erect.

He was angry at Wu. – What a traitor! He was about end Wu's life, when Scorpion X shot at him, but the bullet missed the target. Li Chang hides behind the wine cellar that was in the basement.

'You can't hide forever, Li. Sooner or later, you'll be killed,' Scorpion X says, and smirks. 'You're a master planner, aren't you? Tell me your next plan, I bet it will be spooky; I'm scared.' Scorpion X mocks him.

Immediately, Li Chang throws a bottle of a highly alcoholic drink to Scorpion X, and he reflexly shoots it when it was over head him. Because of the high alcohol content, the bullet sprouts a flame, which falls on his face.

'Arrrgh!' He groans. Li Chang comes out from his hideout and shoots Scorpion X, he didn't check if he was dead or not. The security of Mr. Williams were all around, because of the noise; they took hold of their guns, and trooped in into the basement, but Li Chang was gone.
