"How could you!?" Alisha stood up disentangling herself from Melody's hug. Her eyes shooting daggers at Markian and Mitchell as they got up cautiously from their chairs and stepped towards her. In their minds, they were hurriedly trying to get some excuse, some explanation to make her understand them, to forgive them or at least to give them, the chance to explain what was actually their intention. They knew that they were already sliding on thin ice so they trudged on very reluctantly with an explanation which would get them out of the doghouse that they found themselves in.
"Now... Alisha wait a minute! We didn't tell you about being the Alphas at the beginning because you were already trying to digest the two-mate situation. We didn't mean to hide it from you. It just....it just never came up" said Markian patting Alisha's shoulder awkwardly
Alisha spluttered with indignation."It didn't come up?! What did you mean by it just didn't come up? How could you ....knowing that I was so worried that the Alphas would execute Alia and Alex...How could you just not tell me that BOTH OF YOU were the Alphas that I was worried about!!"Alisha whispered in despair. She looked devastated but would not look into the eyes of the pair of wolves in front of her. She pulled away from Markian as if his touch burnt her skin
Melody and Xander stared at Markian and shook their heads in disbelief. They could see the tears trailing from Alisha's eyes were now changing from tears of sadness to tears of fury. This was not a good beginning, for the newly introduced mates.
Xander closed the gap between him and Markian and cuffed him on the head. He then turned toward Mitchell and cuffed him on the head as well. Mitchell shrugged in pain while he looked apologetically at his father. He didn't say anything as he knew that any wrong move or word, would get him more cuffs on the back of his head.
Mitchell just knew, after years of watching his father traverse the landmine filled minefield called marriage, that shutting up would be the best way not to get in more trouble with Alisha. He mindlinked Markian and both young Alpha mates decided to keep their mouths shut and let their mother placate Alisha.
Melody stood up and walked to Markian who was standing in front of Alisha imploring her to understand with his eyes.
"Markian! That's not the way! You cannot just NOT tell your mate such an important matter. Oh, my Goddess!! Is this how I have raised you? I am so sorry Alisha. Please forgive my numbskulls sons. I remember dropping them on their heads once when they were babies....this is probably the result of that injury. I am so very sorry Alisha! I really didn't mean to give you insensitive and outright dumb mates " Melody bristled sadly while pushing Markian out of the way and taking Alisha's hand in hers.

I don't know why they didn't just tell me. I was so worried, ....worried that the Alphas would punish Alex and Alia for trespassing."
Melody nodded sadly while patting Alisha on her back. She looked accusingly at Xander who was standing next to the duo. Xander bowed his head understanding that he too was being thrown into the dog house that his two sons were languishing in after that insensitive and stupid remark.
"Alisha! Melody has always said that she was outnumbered 3 to 1 in this family and by her expression now, I know she is going to say that the boys get the dumb gene from my side of the family. So before she does that, please accept my apologies for my sons who I admit, maybe dumber than I originally thought them to be" Xander admitted looking down into Alisha tearing eyes.
"How could you think that an 'it just didn't come up ' excuse would suffice," he said turning towards Markian with disappointed eyes.
"Seriously!! Haven't we taught you anything in the past... What does 'didn't come up' even mean?"Xander asked his two sons who were shuffling their feet in dejection.
Alisha tried to smile and took Xander's hand in hers. She shook her head and jumped up to give Xander and Melody a hug."This isn't your fault Melody, nor is it Xander's. Please don't be sad. I just have to get my mates to understand how badly they hurt me by lying to me!" Alisha sniffed while holding onto her mate's parents.
They hugged Alisha tightly knowing that their sons would have to work hard to get over this blunder if they wanted to continue having Alisha in their lives. They wanted to be in neither Markian's nor Mitchell's boots as Alisha taught them about what is the responsibility of one mate to the other
Mitchell laughed happily seeing Xander and Melody both hugging and patting Alisha."Okay then!! All is forgiven.We can all just go back to the reason we brought Alisha here and forget Markian's boo-boo" he said trying to pull the conversation into a safer area
"Oh no, you don't! You have as much to blame as Markian. You could have told me, Mitchell. There was ample time for the subject to come up and both of you just hid that pertinent fact away. Nothing is forgiven. I understand your parents had no part in this but both of you are 100% to blame." said Alisha looking at both Markian and Mitchell
"But...but Alisha...We ARE sorry! We weren't thinking! We should never have hidden it from you. We promise Alisha.!And dad already punished us!!" pleaded Markian trying to explain without getting himself into any more trouble than he already was in. He looked forlornly at Alisha and pointed at his head where Xander had cuffed him just now
Alisha looked at the remorse in both her mates' eyes and fought hard to maintain her anger. Alisha knew that she couldn't stay angry at her mates for long. She could feel Heera trying to persuade her to give up her anger at the duo. Knowing that her mates were deeply sorry and were unhappy didn't sit well with Alisha. Deep pain in her stomach told her, that she would feel this every time her mates were sad.
Heera whined as she could feel Damon and Apollo's pain at her distress." Alisha! Please forgive them.They did not mean to hurt us.Damon and Apollo are very sorry too.Please Alisha!Cant you feel how sorry they are?" whined Heera, mindlinking her.
Alisha was surprised at how fast the mate bond had developed within her. She realized that she could feel how sorry her mates we're for misleading her. She didn't know how she was certain. but she knew that her mates deeply regretted what they did. She felt a pull toward her mates, making it impossible for her to stay angry with them for much longer.
"Enough! I don't want to talk about it anymore. Both of you have hurt me deeply but Heera cannot stand it when both of you are sad. I will forgive you for now but if you ever lie to me again...I will leave you.No matter if you are the sexiest men I have ever seen...I will leave your hot behinds in the dirt and I won't look back. Do you hear it? This is your first and last warning!"Alisha warned the twins with a growl.
Xander and Melody were about to laugh at the 'sexiest men' comment until they saw how serious Alisha was. They didn't think that Alisha and her mates would appreciate the humour of the sentence at this point in time. The thought of Alisha leaving their sons and breaking their hearts sobered them up immediately. They were so glad that Alisha could look past this episode and continue to want to make a life with her mates here in Starfall. "Alisha will make a perfect Luna," they thought as they smiled at each other
Michell recovered first as usual. He whooped in happiness and ran up to Alisha and pulled her into a hug. Markian also came forward to hug her. They were so glad that their mate could forgive them for their mistake. It had not occurred to them that Alisha would be hurt to find out about them being Alphas. They had wanted to protect her but inadvertently been the cause of her distress.
Alisha was engulfed by the two brothers who whispered their apologies repeatedly. She smiled and closed her eyes savouring the calming security she felt while their arms were around her. The twins rubbed her back rhythmically transferring their warmth to her. Alisha could feel their love enveloping her and she hugged them back tightly
Xander and Melody slowly turned and left the kitchen to give their kids a chance to make up from their first fight." Darling! They aren't even mated yet I can feel the way they already love her. Can you imagine how the boys are going to be after they mark her?"Melody whispered to Xander. He laughed softly as he escorted his lovely mate out of the house. He was glad that his sons were fortunate enough to be blessed the same way that he was blessed with a beautiful mate who has made his life exciting and complete. He had seen many a pack, being destroyed from within because the Luna wasn't strong enough to lead.
The future is going to be an exciting time as they knew that Alisha was strong enough to calm the restlessness of their sons. She would also be able to help them rule Starfall wisely.
