The hug that Fay gave me broke me in a deeper level, I guess I never truly got to tell such a traumatic experience to someone, not genuinely at least, I used to tell it as just a "whatever, this happened" even made jokes about it like pretending to be scared of mercury.
After the hug I cleared the tears from her face and mine followed after that, I told her that I was okay, that it was just an explosion of emotions, I hugged her again and told her to get ready because the others would be back soon.
I see fay from inside the control room, she is again bouncing around in her cage, must be bored, or is trying to clear her mind from what just happened...
I can't fight the thought that maybe Fay will see me different after that.
I... Don't know if it would be to the better...
I quickly realize what I just said. Why would she see me in a bad way for showing my emotions?.
I suppose I forgot for a moment that I am supposed to be human in the first place.
I look at my prosthesis...
Would it help?... Not having emotions I mean. Being a robot that only needs to complete it's task and then forget about what happened.
Nah, I really don't want that, feeling is one of the best things in life, tasting food, feeling the warmth of a hug, fay's are... Quite warm, just the right temperature for me to be my favorites.
I still see fay bouncing around in the room, for a moment I forget that I'm not supposed to be seeing her in slow motion, this... "Watch" must be activating on its own. I guess that is useful if fay decides to use her powers suddenly.
Strangely enough, I am really getting tired just by seeing fay bounce around, she doesn't get tired ever as far as I know, I kinda envy that part of her.
Although... She did say that she was tired, that's why she overslept today... Weird.
I noticed the orange light from the hall slowly appearing behind me, and bleeding into the control panel, I turn around and see the door slowly opening, so slow in fact that it gets quite annoying, I signal fay from this side of the window to stop bouncing so the watch stops working, she doesn't seem to notice me, I check to see if the layered cover is in, the one that prevents fay from looking inside, it is in fact, on.
I push the button to remove the protective layer, the layer goes as slow as the doorframe, I touch the layer in the window with the tip of my finger to feel the slow movement, as I touch it, the layer starts moving at the regular speed it is supposed to be running at.
I remove my finger from the layer due to my surprise, and then It gets back to move slowly like how everything else is moving.
I touch it again so it fully gets down.
Fay can finally see me on the other side, the first thing she does is wave at me with a smile.
It's just too cute man.
I wave at her myself but I also point to the door behind me, she notices and stops her lightnings mid flight, I see time move regularly again, fay goes flying to one of the walls in the room, puts her hands in front of her body aswell as her knees to block the impact of the crash, I can see in her face that it still hurt like hell. I can't blame her honestly.
The door behind me finally opens up normally and both Madeline and Alan come inside the room.
-Heyaaaaaa, what did we miss?.
Says Madeline.
-Not much it seems
Finishes Alan while munching on a cookie.
Apparently, his hands are full of cookies, I need to try one of those but I'm sure that if I even try to grab one I'll end up dead in a barrel... Or being part of the cookie dough.
That is strangely enough, still a possibility.
-See? Told ya she would be awake and well.
-Still doesn't explain why she suddenly had a long sleeping session.
-Aren't you looking too much into it?.
-in fact...- I cut the conversation to intervene.
-Alan is right to be worried, isn't fay supposed to have infinity energy?.
-Fay?.
-I-i gave her that name, I think it fits her.
-... Hmmm.
Alan uses the communication device near the window of the room to speak to fay.
-Fay!, you want a cookie?.
-Yeeeeeah!.
Alan opens the little chamber where we put fay's food so it gets transported to her room.
It comes to my attention that Alan gives every single cookie he had on his hands, an incredible sight as far as I know.
Alan really does care for fay, I would gladly call him her father if it wasn't obvious they're not related by blood.
Step-father works.
Fay goobles down each cookie one by one, I still say she looks like a little hamster or even a little mouse when she eats, she really does like using both hands to hold her food even when it's the size of one of her hands already.
An image of a little blue mouse appears in my mind.
Alan closes the hatch and mutes the microphone.
-Well, you're right, it does fit her. Now, you where saying.
-Well I noticed something, I talked with fay before you guys came back from your break.
she said that she was really tired early this morning, that's why she was taking a long nap.
-And she isn't supposed to be tired in the first place... Hmmmm.
-Wait if she isn't supposed to be tired why does she sleep in the first place?.
- Because it feels good- Says Alan. - We knew from the start that she didn't need to sleep at all, but she is used to sleeping because she likes the sensation of her pillow, the bed and the mattress.
-Just that?.
-Yeah it's just a thing of "liking to".
-Back to the point the fact that she felt "tired" is strange enough to be reported, this is the first time we ever heard of something like this.
Did you ask fay why she was tired in the first place?.
-She doesn't know, she just told me that she woke up like that.
Madeline just stood there in the room without saying anything, looking at her beer while taking sips from it from time to time.
After a couple she turns to see us with a serious face.
-I think I know why that happened.
-Care to explain?.
- T.
Alan gets surprised by the mere pronunciation of that letter.
-Don't, don't say her name, the mic could leak something.
-I wasn't going to, but we really should go and check.
I Remember the letter T when it was my first day, when I saw the paper that Alan left me that had details to help me with her.
And I remember something specially.
NEVER MENTION SUBJECT T
