Chereads / Terra Divera / Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6

Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6

"How do you know he's lying?", I asked

"I have been gifted by the moon goddess, Tina. I can read minds and what fantasies reside in his mind....are beyond dangerous.", She explained with a sigh.

"COME!!!!" she commanded

"Even if he wanted to take you to the central. I wouldn't let him, he might have just killed you there."

Luna pointed to the chair at her dresser, directing me to sit and I did.

I sat on the chair facing the mirror, the only furniture in Luna's room aside her bed. Luna spun the chair around so I could face her. With both her hands on either side of my cheek.

I could see the tears threatening to fall from her eyes, it made me want to cry.

"I know you love your hair but you must understand the gravity of this situation, I must keep you alive and you must keep yourself alive. It's just hair. It would grow back.

"I'm going to cut your hair now and dye it, it'll be blue, so you'll blend in. I'm sure you'll look amazing. Ok?"

I couldn't say a word, I had problems with understanding how serious the situation really is.

Why would the alpha want me dead?

He already named me death and it has been a burden I had to carry for so long.

I closed my eyes, I didn't want to see the strands of hair Luna would cut of.

I could feel myself spin again and I was sure I was facing the mirror by now. I felt Luna cut my hair with such speed you would think she's done this for years, I just hope my hair doesn't look like abandoned rat food.

When she was satisfied with how I looked, she dyed it blue. I opened my eyes. I looked ok. different. unrecognizable. but ok. I could pass as boy.

"Take this." Luna says as she hands me a small box. "Remember, always cut your hair. The blue contents inside are dye the other..." She sprayed some mist on me. "....for covering up your scent, it could cover up scent completely but not temporarily. You must understand to stop applying it by the time you get to your destination. With that being said, you must escape. I'll help you."

I eyes widen at Luna's words, the mist covers scent. All this time, I had been applying the mist because Luna asked it of me. I always felt outlandish when the people of Sud would make comments about my lack of scent.

Luna was at the door with the door knob in hand ready to open the door, but the door had slammed into her face, the other side of the door revealed the she-wolf from earlier. What was her problem with kicking doors down?

The she-wolf took in my appearance, I also took her in as she observed me with wide eyes, she was speechless at first until, she started flapping her mouth.

"Libitina? What do you think you're doing? I'll tell the alp..."

She couldn't complete her sentence as Luna had already knocked her out with a punch.

Luna took a deep breath, squatting to get a good look at the she-wolf, I could see remorse in her eyes.

"I'm sorry." She said as she held a dagger above the she-wolf chest. "But you'll have to die." She continued before she struck the she-wolf at her heart, the only way to kill a werewolf. I closed my eyes as I saw the gush of blood coming from the she-wolf's wound also getting on Libitina's face and hands.

Libitina took a good look at me.

"I hope you don't see me in a different light after this, people like her who worship the alpha, death is inevitable for them. Because, they are only blind to the truth."

Libitina looked at she-wolf, I excused myself to her bathroom to release whatever contents have made their ways to my mouth, I have never seen Luna act this way before.

After I had taken my time in the bathroom, I opened the bathroom door, Luna was already standing at the other side of it, her once all white attire now unrecognizable with it's new shade of red and her hair was tainted blood, she looked nothing like the pure Luna I was used to seeing, now she looked like a  graceful Barbarian warrior princess.

"We need to go." She said as she offered me her hand. The hand of a murderer, also tainted red, the blood wasn't even dried yet. I felt more vomit coming up my throat already.

I looked at her hand, her face then her eyes they still held the warmth I had already gotten so use, it just wasn't dominant anymore all I could see now is a more fierce look with a sprinkle of fear, she was very determined about this escape.

I took a deep breath, accepting her hand.

"I trust you and that's why I'm doing this."

Luna hummed and hugged me, although I could smell the blood from her body, I still returned the hug.

Luna broke the hug first.

"The mist, I've out on you would disable anyone from following your scent, unlike before when it cancelled your scent altogether. I've suppressed your scent for so long but as your grow older, it's taking more mist to suppress it.", She said as she arranged my recently cut hair.

"You'll have to manage the mist I've made for you. I've managed to keep your scent hidden right from the time you were a new born. Do you understand Tina?", She questioned as she searched my eyes.

I nodded.

She took no time in pulling out of her room, and towards the woods.

As we left the comfort of what used to be my home, I came to the ugly understanding that if I didn't leave soon, I was going to be killed either way.

--------

Without wasting any time Luna started dragging me towards the woods. She lead us through the woods like she has been here more times than I could count, she was unstoppable, so many roots had tripped her but she never fell, while I on the other hand, I had been smacked in the face by branches, tripped and fell so many times. I just knew I was slowing Luna down. She had kiled so many wolves already while I just knocked some out. Luna did the rest.

After running for some time Luna paused, we were at the end of the boundary of Sud, the land after this isn't claimed but it was still part of Terra Divera.

"Here. Go east from here. This way." She says as she points into a path, the east amongst the paths. "I spent most of my time making these paths, wherever you see a creasent moon, you're going the right way."

So that's what she's been doing.

Wait a minute.

"But east is Est where unmated he wolves are. Shouldn't I be going to Ovest?", I asked

"Look. Whether the alpha wanted you dead or not. You would be escaping either way. All this time I believed the alpha didn't care of your existence, I planned to take you to Ovest but considering the alpha wants to kill you, that'll be the first place he'll look for you ." She countered

"But why does the alpha want me dead? Where would you go, you're not safe?" I asked again.

"I don't know, he didn't disclose anything about killing you, when you were first delivered here. He didn't want to see your face, so it brought uneasiness to me that he decided to visit today of all days. The little I know of your birth was that your mom was also from Terra - unlike my mother - she took in, she was pregnant with you. He never disclosed the reason he killed our mothers, he had said they had threatened the reign of the alpha. Although, I hardly believe it." Luna paused staring into space for some time before she continued

"No need to worry about me. I know I'll be safe, the possibility of me being killed is 0."

"And my father?", I asked.

"I don't know. It could be possible that he's dead, when a mate dies, it's very hard to take it, sometimes the pain leads to death. That's how it works." She answered hurriedly

"How do you know this?", My questions were starting to annoy Luna, her facial expressions as of now was very different from the Luna I knew before, that face of calm and joy was long gone replaced by that of desperation.

"What? It's common knowledge.", She answered, looking left and right inclining her ear in the path of which we came from.

"Not the mate stuff, my mom's death. You've been here in Sud for so many years before my birth and you're not allowed to leave the territory. So how do you know all these?", I corrected her.

"I'm blessed by the moon goddess, I can read minds. The alpha's mind was going haywire with how he killed your mother, wanting to use same methods on you, disgusting creature, unluckily he disclosed his thoughts before I could delve any longer." She answered, ears still inclined in same direction.

"Why were you scared of the alpha?" I began

"Time to go, Tina." Luna said in sing song manner, when she heard some footsteps. They must have gotten the news of the escape.

"Try to blend in with the he-wolves. It should be easy with these."

Luna leaves me and disappears into the woods, next time she appears, she comes back, holding a duffle bag.

"This has some clothes that would hide your assets.", She explains as she eyes my chest. "Here." Luna says as she hands me the bag and I take it

"I'm not going to fall for this again. I'm not going until you answer me, you've always avoided my questions but not today, this might be the last time we see each other ...", I started but Luna interrupted

"Don't say that."she pleaded.

Luna already had tears gushing out of her eyes, she is the strongest person I know and to see her cry, doesn't sit well with me but I need to get my answers.

"....and I don't want to depart from you, knowing you kept more secrets from me, if the alpha doesn't kill me, then thinking will. So?" I continued

"The a.. alpha." She started as she bent her head in order to prevent me from seeing her pink cheeks. Was she blushing? In such a life-threatening situation?

"Is my mate."

I froze, unable to say. All this time we've been thinking Luna wasn't destined to have a mate but if she had one, could it possibly mean I have one too?

"Now go!!!", Luna pushed me as the footsteps came closer. I turned into my grey wolf, picking the box Luna gave me and running towards Est. I  wonder what wonders await me.
