The pack had moved into a nearby cave, scared that whatever was breaking the barrier would come for them next. Suddenly, Blazefur stumbled through the bushes, and looked really beat up. Blurfoot heard the rustle in the bushes. "Blazefur! Is there any news on the barrier?" Starpup stared at him and his injuries, looking shocked. "It's Thunderstep," he panted. Iriscloud wagged her tail. "Where did you see him?" she asked. Starpup didn't know Thunder because she had joined a few days ago. "Thunderstep was wolfnapped...if that's what we're gonna call it," Blazefur barked. Iceheart was stroking Strongsoul around her wound, where a hunter had seen her from the other side of the barrier and shot her, and at that moment, Fire Pack had attacked, too. You see, the barrier is keeping a truce between the packs, and until it shatters, the packs must protect each other. Starpup joined Iceheart."Why are you doing that," she asked. "She got shot so I'm trying to comfort her," Iceheart replied. "Oh," said Starpup. Strongsoul's mate trotted over with a stick and strong spider web threads, and started to stitch up the wound "Temporarily." he whispered to Strong. Bloodmoon shot up. "We need to find Thunder. If he's still alive, then we must find and rescue him." "Yeah...but what if Thunder ended up like Strong," barked Starpup. Bearclaw was standing confused. How did this yelling turn into a conversation about an injured mate. "Can someone please tell me what is going on here," he barked loudly. Strongsoul yelped as the spider web stitches popped one by one. Iceheart stroked her daughter's face. "The barrier has split and I got shot so we ran for cover. what's left of the other packs came to help," said Strongsoul calming down...but still in intense pain. Bearclaw lifted up his big head towards the crowd in his cave and started walking forward towards Strongsoul with an angry look on his face. Strongsoul made a face. What did she do? Whatever it was she would just wait and see. After finally reaching her he looked down at her face. "You're brave to come here. You have my respect," he yipped, Bearclaw didn't know many of the wolves. Some he forgot because he was always in his cave. "Who is Thunder? What happened to him?" "Thunder got wolf-napped. we've all been scared he had died but I smell him," Strongsoul barked. Following the scent, everyone's ears pricked. Falconfeather padded up next to Strongsoul."Wait, let me come along." "And me!"Silversea barked."Okay just stay behind me" she said as
she trotted onward. Falconfeather and Silversea nodded and they followed after. "I'll come, too," Blazefur added. Despite his injuries, he was ready to find his friend. "Are you coming, too Bearclaw?" Blazefur knew this was risky, since Bearclaw was tough and intimidating, but he also knew Bearclaw had a nobel heart. He had seen it last dry season, when a fire broke out. He had saved 2 pups from the nursery. Strongsoul
followed the scent trail into a bush and there was Thunder, sleeping.... "Are you awake, Thunder," Strongsoul asked. Thunderstep jumped to his paws and yipped. "Oh," he laughed, "It's you guys! Thank Moon Pack
you guys found me!" Bearclaw then came up to Thunder and recognized the scent. "I remember you." Starpup tumbled in "Who's he?" she asked and went back to playing with a leaf. Blazefur came up, limping behind the group that had found Thunderstep. He was relieved to see that Thunderstep was OK...or was he? "You have a very short termed memory you were in my cave a few minutes ago,"Bearclaw mentioned. Thunder sniffed the wolf. "I do too." Silversea gave her friend a nuzzle. She had missed her friend. "It was long ago," Bearclaw barked, "You may not remember but I helped you save a couple pups from a nursery fire long ago." "Oh, yes... I remember that fire," he yipped, "I got knocked out, woke up in a strange den, and
escaped here." "If there really is a barrier breaker, show it to me," barked Bearclaw. Thunderstep looked over to the broken barrier and saw a pink figure. "THE BARRIER BREAKER," he howled. Bearclaw rushed out leaving the rest of the wolves with Thunder. He was determined to protect the barrier at all costs. Just like he had always done. Blazefur thought maybe he could help, but he didn't for 2 reasons: A. He was severely wounded, Bearclaw was the toughest wolf he knew. But then, the pink thing swiped at Bearclaw and sent him flying. Everyone was shocked by this. The pack gasped. Especially Deerhunter. "How could this happen?" Blazefur gave a look at Strong soul, signaling her to pounce at the creature with him. Blazefur then motioned Starpup back, knowing the situation would be rough.Strongsoul counted down, "Three...two...NOW!" They pounced on the creature but it sent them flying. Blazefur got launched a bit further than Strong so Strongsoul pinned the creature. Ironclaw turned to Bloodmoon. "Bloodmoon, you're strong. Why don't you try?" Bloodmoon turned to Ironclaw. "You're a male wolf. Why don't you do it?" That doesn't sound right. But of course Bloodmoon was a wolf who would every now and then insult others. Bearclaw then rushed back towards the Barrier Breaker. This time he was clenching his teeth very strangely. He then tore out his claws and struck the creature with all of his might. Bearclaw roared. The barrier breaker was pushed back and looked shocked. Bearclaw was a threat to its plan.
