Chereads / CANINES : The True Alpha / Chapter 17 - Shifting

Chapter 17 - Shifting

The growl was enough to make the guts of the two girls who had become omega shrink.

The two of them were standing next to the largest tree in the middle of Central Park. The Nemeton, as Theo said. The tree turned out to be a supernatural tree that was able to attract all the mythical creatures to roam there. And Theo and Thomas, are the guards appointed by their predecessors to guard Nemeton against other creatures who try to absorb Nemeton's power. So, the reason why the alpha was near them at night they were bitten could be because the alpha wanted to see Nemeton. And the four eighteen-year-olds were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Theo and Thomas had been looking after the Nemeton from about a century ago, and at that time they were still fully a pack. Theo's father was alpha at that time but did not last long because their pack was slaughtered by hunters. Everyone died trying to protect Nemeton, only Theo and Thomas were left. And before Theo's father died, the alpha locked Nemeton's power so that it was no longer able to attract mystical creatures.

Until the night Nakula and Sadewa were bitten.

Somehow, when the four teenagers were attacked by an unknown alpha, the seal that locked Nemeton's power slowly opened. Theo and Thomas were still investigating. And now here they are. With Nakula and Sadewa still chained (even their necks and hands and feet are locked) waiting for something obvious to happen after this.

And it's been half an hour, it seems that the full moon effect of being next to Nemeton makes Sadewa and Nakula lose their minds even more. Their wolf side was taking over more and more and all they did was growl, claw, and try to untie the chains that bound them.

Therefore Rasya and Hema were beside the tree, with Thomas in front of them protecting them. Because the two beta youths are out of control and their instincts dominate.

"Embrace the feeling!" Theo ordered the twins.

The twins who were kneeling on the ground could only growl in response to Theo and both pairs of their eyes flashed goldenly. The fangs were already elongated and fine hairs were slowly growing all over their bodies.

"Argh!"

Nakula screamed and gripped his right shoulder tightly until his sharp nails sank and blood began to drip. Rasya gasped. But Thomas just shook his head warning her not to come any closer. Rasya bit her lip, her hand gripped Hema's arm and she was worried.

"It's okay, Theo knows what he did to them," Hema whispered to Rasya. Ah, he calmed Rasya and herself. Because all this time, her heart was beating at such a high speed that he was sure the werewolves were smitten by it.

She nodded slowly and took a breath.

Crack!

The two omegas gasped. Because the sound was—

"ARGH!!"

Sadewa and Nakula shouted and roared at the same time. Their spines seemed to be snapped in two at once. Sadewa had even fallen on his knees with his head hitting the ground and his forehead dripping with sweat. He wanted to die.

Nakula's breath that had been stuttering seemed to be getting thinner, he felt that his consciousness would soon be thinning, and maybe, he hoped that his consciousness would disappear so that all the pain in his body would stop. But somehow his other instinct kept him awake.

"It's okay, you guys can. A little more," Theo encouraged the two of them. But both of them were too busy snarling and groaning from the aching all over their bodies to answer.

Crack!

"ARGH!!!"

Rasya couldn't take it anymore. He took a few steps forward but a growled warning from Thomas made her stop. Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, and she could not bear to see Nakula and Sadewa in such a state. Moreover, Nakula is her mate. She seemed useless because she just stood aside and watched all the fractures and changes in her mate. God, she wanted to cry.

Nakula raised his face and saw Thomas holding Rasya. A grunt escaped his throat. The heat in his chest intensified, overpowering the pain in his entire body.

"Don't touch her!" Thomas roared. His roar sounded across Central Park. Like a lion about to rage.

It was enough to make Thomas and Rasya shocked. Theo raised an eyebrow. The reason is, that Nakula's condition is now half transformed. White feathers have almost dominated, but he still has a human body. Then Theo finally understood.

Theo looked at Thomas and they nodded together. Theo walked to Hema and pulled him so that Hema was in front of the twins. Likewise, Thomas has brought Rasya side by side with Hema. Then the two werewolves' hands suddenly gripped the necks of the two teenage omegas. It was enough to make both of them jump in surprise and their hearts beat at a high speed with fear.

"Don't touch them!" this time Sadewa. His golden eyes devoured the werewolf in front of them and he was already struggling to pull the chain tightly around his body.

"Be angry! Be angry! Get your anger out!" Theo smirked and squeezed Hema's neck so much that Hema choked. Rasya was already coughing hard and trying to get Thomas' hands off his neck, she was having a hard time breathing. She tried to calm down but her breathing was thinning, and she needed help. Hema was moaning softly and her tears were already welling up. She couldn't breathe.

Sadewa and Nakula snap.

Their golden pupils shrunk and their instincts kicked out and crushed anyone who dared touch their omega. Inside their heads were ringing loudly as if a warning ringing and shouts of 'threat, threat, threat, threat' made both of them even more furious and rebellious wanting to release the shackles that bound them.

Their omegas are under the threat.

They roared, making all the crows perched on the trees fly away in fright, then they pulled the chains that bound them with full force until they shattered and fell apart. They ignored the excruciating pain as if their whole body had just been run over by a truck monster and had their bones broken many times because right now their instinct was only to pounce and tear apart the threat that tried to hurt their two omegas.

The next second, they were standing on all fours.
