Chapter 35
It didn't feel like two weeks in Bali passed and ended quickly. I really enjoy the atmosphere of Bali. There was no day without taking a walk with Mas Umam, we really enjoyed the best of our honeymoon.
Today is our last day in Bali. Soon we have to check out and go to the airport so we don't miss our flight.
"Mas, this is why we have more and more luggage, huh?" I asked when I saw the goods and suitcases arranged at the door so they could be taken downstairs.
When we arrived two weeks ago, we only brought one suitcase. Now, it has grown to two suitcases and two cardboard boxes used for instant noodles.
"You don't know why?" asked Mas Umam back. His eyes ogling me mischievously while looking at me and our pile of luggage alternately.
I laughed too embarrassed, because I know the cause. Every day when I'm out for a walk, I definitely buy something for souvenirs or for my own collection.
"That's it, ah, no need to talk about it!" I said embarrassed.
After a while, the hotel clerk came and started carrying our things to the lobby. I followed Mas Umam who was walking behind the officer.
Mas Umam turned to the hotel reception while I immediately followed the officer carrying our luggage into the taxi that would take us to the airport.
I enjoyed all the way to the airport for the last time. Don't know when we can come here again.
------
Papa and Cleo welcomed us on our arrival. Especially Papa who looks like he really misses me. He hugged me while shedding tears.
In fact, when I went with Mas Azzam, Papa wasn't like that. Maybe because now there is no Mama by his side.
With excitement, Cleo unpacked the things I was carrying. He was so happy to receive many gifts from me. Papa also didn't forget to give me special souvenirs from the island of Bali.
That night, we slept early. Because tomorrow morning, Mas Umam will start working again after being cut for two weeks.
The next day, we returned to our original activities. Mas Umam went to the hospital, Cleo went to campus and Papa went to the office. It's just me and my aunt at home.
After finishing tidying up the room, I went to the kitchen to help Aunt cook. After that, I didn't have a job anymore because Aunt had done everything.
I was sitting relaxed in front of the television watching a show that whatever the title, I would care. The important thing is I have entertainment.
Suddenly I remembered the late Kak Winda.
"I'd better go there now, Mas Azzam's mother won't like it if I don't come there," I thought.
I was getting ready to go to Mas Azzam's mother's house. Unfortunately when I got there I had to be disappointed because the house was empty. There will be a sign at the gate that says 'This house is for sale'.
They've moved, but where? I immediately contacted Mas Azzam's number, but apparently it was no longer active. Her mother's number is also the same, none of them are active.
I also took the initiative to call Papa. Maybe Papa knows where they live now.
"Assalamualaikum, Pa. I wanted to visit Mas Azzam's mother, but apparently they have moved. Does Papa know where they live now?" I asked immediately as soon as Papa answered my call.
"Oh, yes. Papa forgot to tell me. They all moved to Bandung. Coincidentally, Azzam's dad got a project there," Papa answered on the other end of the phone.
"How come the number isn't active, huh?"
"If you don't know about that, try calling Papa later. You'd better go home."
"Yes, Papa," I said.
I hung up the phone while taking a deep breath. In my heart I was surprised by their sudden move.
When I stayed in Bali for only two weeks, they moved without telling me. I went home sadly, but my mind was still wondering about Mas Azzam's family moving.
"Maybe they are angry because you married me, Yang," said Mas Umam after hearing my story.
He had just come home from the hospital that afternoon. We talked in the room, after Entering Umam finished bathing and changing clothes.
"Angry? Angry why?" I asked.
"Well, that. Angry because you rejected Azzam's wife's last request and then married me. When his wife died, we didn't come either," answered Mas Umam at length.
It is also true what Mas Umam said. Maybe they are angry and don't want anything to do with me anymore.
_____
Five years later.
"Mas go first, OK? Be careful at home. What time will Cleo be home?" asked Mas Umam.
That afternoon he wanted to go out of town to take part in Community Service activities in the area.
I was alone with the Aunt at home. It made him feel worried. Cleo is married, but her husband, who is a soldier, is on duty in the Papua area. So Cleo still lives at Papa's house as long as her husband hasn't returned.
Cleo works at an elementary school as an honorary worker to fill her time. She is currently heavily pregnant, maybe in a few weeks she will give birth.
While I, until now not pregnant either. Even though I went to the doctor and was declared healthy both of them. Maybe God hasn't given us the trust to raise children.
"Hey, even daydreaming. Don't daydream too much, honey."
Mas Umam's voice woke me up from my reverie.
"No, Mas. I don't know what time Cleo will be home, but it's okay, Mas. Auntie's there, you just go. Be careful on the road, ok? Don't be too tired from work," I ordered.
"Yes, that's it then. Mas go first, Assalamualaikum," he greeted.
"Waalaikumsalam," I replied. Then kissed the back of her hand.
Mas Umam left by riding his motorbike to the house of his community friend. From there, they will board the bus with other groups.
