Chapter 20 - Veil Of Secrets

Valor was a city of many secrets, and Aiden had returned to it with a heavy heart and a burning determination. The rumors had reached his ears, and there was no denying the pull of the city's dark underbelly. His quest was simple yet agonizingly personal: to find his younger sister, a child with a rare and natural Echo ability, who had vanished without a trace.

As he approached the nondescript building, he could hear Luna's cries growing louder, and his mother's voice echoing with desperate conviction. Aiden burst through the door, and the horrific sight before him left him trembling with a mixture of anger and despair.

Inside the grim laboratory, Aiden looked towards his sister Luna, her small form wracked with pain. Her eyes, once filled with innocence and love, now held a haunting mixture of terror and agony.

Luna Weak and pained says "Aiden, it hurts... Please make it stop."

Aiden's cousin, Malachi, watched the scene with a cruel smirk, determined to see his dark experiment through.

Cold and heartless Malachi snickered "Aiden, you're too late. There's no turning back now."

Aiden's mother, Selene, desperate to protect her children, tried to intervene, but Malachi stood firm.

Selene Desperate pleaded "Malachi, please, stop this madness!"

Aiden couldn't bear to see his sister suffer any longer. Luna was bound to a table, her body convulsing as the fusion process continued. Lythran, a young and innocent Echo creature, stood nearby, its presence a grim reminder of the horrors unfolding.

Aiden with Tears streaming down his face softly says "Luna, I won't let them do this to you. I promise, I'll save you."

He reached out to touch Luna, but Malachi blocked his path, his eyes filled with malice.

"You can't stop this, Aiden. Luna's fate is sealed."

Aiden's mother, Selene, intervened, trying to protect her children from further harm.

Selene Torn and emotional "Malachi, please, for the love of Echo, don't do this. There must be another way."

Aiden's cousin, driven by his cruel agenda, was unfazed by their pleas.

Malachi Unyielding "There is no other way. Luna's abilities will be harnessed for the good of the Lucid Warriors, and no one will stand in my way."

As Aiden's pleas fell on deaf ears, Luna's body began to disintegrate, the fusion process consuming her. Her cries grew weaker, and her form faded before their eyes, leaving behind only a haunting memory.

Luna Fading away says "Aiden... I love you."

Aiden held his sister one last time as she vanished, her spirit forever merged with Lythran. His heart ached, knowing that Luna's innocence was lost forever.

But Selene would not escape the clutches of the Lucid Warriors either.

As the fusion process continued, Malachi's cruelty knew no bounds. With a wicked smile, he used his Earth Echo abilities to attack Selene, sending rock and earth spikes hurtling toward her.

Aiden watched in horror as his mother fell victim to the relentless assault. Her sacrifice was a testament to her love and her determination to protect her children, even in the face of unspeakable cruelty.

Selene In agony screams"Just stop, Malachi!"

With her last breath, Selene's voice pleaded for reason, but it fell on deaf ears as the cruel echo assault continued. Her sacrifice was etched in Aiden's memory.

As the agonizing scene unfolded, a sinister voice echoed in Aiden's mind. It was Xenon, hidden from view but not from Aiden's awareness.

Xenon Whispers "Aiden, my boy... This is all Vidar's doing. He's the mastermind behind these atrocities."

Aiden's heart raced as he processed Xenon's words. It couldn't be true, but doubt gnawed at him.

Malachi, seizing the opportunity, used his Earth Echo abilities to launch an attack on Aiden. Large rocks and debris flew at him, momentarily incapacitating him. The pain was excruciating, but it didn't deter Aiden's determination.

Aiden Gritting his teeth says "I won't let you get away with this, Malachi."

But Malachi paid no heed to Aiden's words. With a cruel smile, he retreated back to the Lucid Warriors, leaving behind a trail of destruction and sorrow.
