Chapter 107 - Lodestar Island

Upon landing on Lodestar's shores, the whole island was shrouded in a thick mist that made it hard to see what's ahead. Its jagged cliffs and rugged terrain give it an ancient and untamed appearance.

"So, this is Lodestar!" Yamato exclaimed while glancing at the surroundings in awe.

Ashen had a look of satisfaction in his face, although coming to this place wasn't necessary since he already know about the Road Poneglyphs and Laugh Tale but being the second person to ever set foot at this island for 800 years gave him a sense of accomplishment.

Kaido, Big Mom, Whitebeard, none of these people would've bothered coming to this place after Roger. The two formers aren't really the adventurer types and would not bother coming to this place after learning about Laugh Tale and the Poneglyphs from Roger, and Whitebeard wasn't someone who was interested in the One Piece in the first place.

"Not what I expected, but… there is something off about this place" Calvin pointed out, as he walked beside Ashen. The island certainly has an ominous atmosphere and an aura of mystery around it.

"How do we know that this place is for sure Lodestar? I mean we've been stranded on the sea for weeks we might just have been drifted to a random island" Moria asked.

"You are right, but there is a way to know if we are at Loadstar…" Ashen responded before he turned back and approached Ken.

While everyone was busy observing the surroundings, Ken's attention was caught when he noticed the needles on the Log Pose spinning without pointing anywhere. It was quite different than what happened to them while they were trying to reach the island, normally when you set foot into an island the needles on the Log Pose will be locked and after spending a certain amount of time on that island, they will capture the magnetic field of the next destination and point to it.

But at this moment the needles where just spinning endlessly, indicating that there is no next destination after this using the normal way. When Ashen saw that he cracked a smile before he confirmed to everyone else that they were indeed at Lodestar.

"What do we do now?" Enel asked Ashen, considering the importance of this place there might be something out here.

"Let's take a look around first, we might find something out here" Ashen responded. Roger might have known about the existence of another island from the Log Pose, but there must be something else that informed him about how to reach it.

Considering that he already knew about the Road Poneghlyphs when he met Whitebeard and Oden, something out here must have given him that knowledge.

Driven by their curiosity, the crew stumbled upon the crumbling ruins of a long-lost city nestled deep within the jungle. Nature's tendrils have entwined themselves around the decaying structures, towering pillars, intricately carved with elaborate patterns and symbols.

"Don't seem like someone lives in this island at all" Enel stated using his Observation Haki across the island, he confirmed the place to be uninhabited by anything other than wild animals.

"But they used to be…" Ashen said as he observed the city ruins with interest, the architecture and the symbols carved in the buildings looked familiar to the ones in Shandora, which made him conclude that this place most likely have been a part or at least related to the Ancient Kingdom long ago, but right now it's just ruins, and its inhabitants are long gone.

"Let's split up and search the place, come and find me if you find anything" Ashen said and everyone went in a different way.

30 minutes later…

While Ashen, Yamato and Enel were looking inside the buildings they stumbled upon a Poneglyph by chance. This was a Historical Poneglyph, a one that only contain information.

"Blue…that's not a Road Poneglyph, right?" Enel asked.

"What could be written on it?" Yamato questioned

"It's a Historical Poneglyph…it most likely talks about the existence of the four Road Poneglyphs and the Last Island" Ashen stated, he knew that Roger had the voice of all things that allowed him to have an idea about what it says and using that information he began looking for them.

Ashen also suspected that it might contain some information about the Ancient Weapon Uranus considering that Roger knew about its location before he even became a pirate king, thought that possibility is very low.

"I wonder who made it and for what purpose?" Yamato questioned while looking intrigued by it.

"The Kozuki Family are the one who made, and each one of these Historical Poneglyphs tells a piece of history long forgotten" Ashen responded.

"The Kozuki Family?..." Yamato's attention was immediately caught after mentioning the name Kozuki.

"Yes, the people who made didn't want some parts of history to be forgotten, hoping that someone in the future will put the pieces together and find the truth, which Roger managed to do 800 years later…although he couldn't do anything with it" Ashen stated, then added "Anyway, let's take a copy just in case"

Ashen also proceeded to carve a message right next to the Poneglyph, he did the same thing in the Poneglyph in Sky Island when he went this time around.

'Bearer of ambition, wielder of destiny, let the echoes of our conquest resound through the ages…Pirate Ashen'

On the other side of town, while Calvin, Moria and Ian were searching the buildings in the city, Ian suddenly stepped on something, it was barely noticeable and hidden underneath the dirt.

"The hell is that?..." Ian slowly got on his knees and dug it out. He was surprised to find a small black horn.

"What do you have there?" Moria asked, interested to see what Ian found.

"It's just a normal horn…" he replied examining it carefully, trying to find something special about it, when he didn't find anything, he decided to blow on the horn to see what sound it would emit, but it was just a normal sound "What a shitty item" he said before he threw it away.

A few seconds later Ashen and the rest of the crew showed up.

"Did you guys find anything out of the ordinary?" Ashen asked them, they all shook their head, just as everyone was going to turn back and leave a weird sound was heard coming from a distance.

"Did you hear that?..." Calvin asked as he got on guard.

"What?"

A moment later the sound was heard again but it was louder, like something was approaching them from a distance.

"You're right" Ashen said as he faced the direction of the sound. The sound was heard again but this time loud and clear, it was a roar and shortly after that everyone was shocked at the appearance of a massive dragon.

"You've got to be kidding me…a dragon?!!" Everyone was shocked, while the dragons used to be around a long time ago, they are now extinct, and the last dragon seen was the one that Ryuma killed 400 years ago.

"It looks different from father's dragon form!" Yamato remarked, it looked more like a western dragon with four legs.

"ROOAAAARR!!!" The dragon let out a loud roar while flying above their heads.

"I thought dragons were extinct…" Moria said in shock before he recalled the story of Ryuma fighting a dragon and told everyone about it.

"Wow, as expected from a samurai from Wano, they're all cool!" Yamato exclaimed.

"So, he used this very sword to slay one" Ashen said with a smile as he unsheathed Shusui. He had forgotten about that story a long time ago "Then it is only right to take out this one using the same sword, right?"

"Don't tell me that stupid horn--!!" Ian couldn't finish his sentence before the dragon breathed a huge fire blast from his mouth at their position, burning everything including the horn.

*BOOOM* Everyone dodge the attack, before Ashen leaped in the air near the dragon.

*SWOOOSH*-*SLASH* With one powerful sword slash, Ashen decapitated the dragon before he gracefully landed near its dead body, smoothly putting his sword back to its sheath.

"We might have just ended the dragon species right now" Moria said.

"After all the things we saw, I'm not even surprised anymore" Calvin said while scratching the back of his head. Moria checked the dragon's body in order to use his shadow power on it to make a zombie dragon. He proceeded to drag the dragon back to the ship.

"Who cares, let's just leave. There is nothing for us here anymore!" Ashen said as everyone went back to the ship, and they proceeded to leave Lodestar after that.
