"So, any plan on taking down the dragon?" Hao asks while looking at the other two.
"Wyvern, at least get that correct. A wyvern only has a pair of wings and legs, while a dragon has a pair of wings and two pairs of legs." Kaori quickly explain
"Sure, whatever you said." Hao said dismissively, "But back to my original point. How are you going to take on this, boss?" Hao asks while pointing toward the wyvern underneath
"Hm, there is not much we can do now, would we? All we can do is trial and error, and you better give it your all. Because the moment we failed, we lost this bonus reward permanently, so you better give it 110%." Kaori said toward Hao
"Ok... but are you sure? I mean, just from the appearance alone, this boss would probably not be easy." Hao asked Kaori again to ensure that Kaori only responded with.
"He who desires but acts not breeds pestilence." Kaori simply response
"Did you just-? Fine." Hao said before letting out a breath.
"Good. Now, then Valka, if you may?" Kaori ask, turning toward Valka, who quickly bows toward Kaori
"Of course, miss," Valka said before jumping down the pit, landing on the head of the sleeping wyvern, and with a mighty cry, he swung his fist toward the wyvern with a loud crack that echoed throughout the entire area.
The wyvern quickly woke up with a roar before swinging Valka down from its head and locking its eyes with Valka.
"That is an opening if I have ever seen one," Hao said before jumping down the pit while pulling out his daggers and activating one of his skills, Falling Blade.
With Hao activating his skill, a trail of blue mana emerges from both of his daggers, following him like a trail of light while Hao falls toward the wyvern.
Both Hao stuck down on the back of the dragon, with another massive cracking sound, similar to that of Valka, indicating a Just Frame, and with a buff from Backstab, it increases the damage Hao dealt toward the dragon.
'What an interesting skill.' Standing above the arena, Kaori observes Hao activate the skill 'A rogue with a magical skill, that is sure an interesting one.'
Kaori thought before she disappeared in a flash of light before appearing next to Valka near instant.
Still holding on to her umbrella in one hand, Kaori used her other hand, and with a flick of her wrist, a thunderbolt appeared from above, striking down the wyvern.
Before the thunder could strike down the wyvern, Hao, who was still on top of the wyvern, was able to activate Backstab and teleport next to Kaori.
"You crazy woman! What if I got struck by that thunder too?" Hao said
'Interesting, he even has a teleporting skill as a rogue; just how did he obtain these skills?' Kaori thought before responding to Hao's questions
"Oh, don't be like that now. I did the same thing with Valka; he could take it easy." Kaori explain
However, before Hao could respond, the wyvern roared again, loud enough to make all three cover their wars.
The futuristic armour glows blue, and then suddenly, the blue light comes out of those pieces of armour; before that, blue light covers its wing, taking the shape of blades on both sides of the wyvern wings.
The moment it did that, the wyvern swung one of its wings down toward the party, which they quickly dodged out of the way and stood behind the wyvern.
When the wings hit the ground, instead of cracking, the wings slice down, leaving a vast slash mark on the floor.
'An armour that turns its wing into swords? That kinda cool.' Hao cannot but admire how the armour work.
However, it did not stop there, and more blue light started coming out of the armour, moving toward the wyvern's tail and taking the shape of something else.
This time, however, the shape is not a blade, but it seems to take shape more like a circle on the tip of its tail. After that, blue energy started to gather at the centre of the circle; even with its back turn, the wyvern could still gather these energies before it shot toward Hao like a laser beam; his eye widened in surprise.
'Oh shit!' Due to the distance and speed of the laser, Hao knows that even with his AGI stat, he will not be able to dodge this attack.
But to his absolute surprise, some appear in front of him in a small flash of light, revealing the person as Kaori, who holds her umbrella in front of her and blocks the laser. However, even then, Kaori still gets put back by the laser, and the heat from the attack alone also starts to burn Kaori herself.
It would be only a matter of time before her guard would break, and the laser would undoubtedly kill her.
Valka didn't stand still either; he quickly made his way toward Kaori and stood behind her before grabbing her arms to hold it steady and help her block the attack. With his superior strength stat, Valka was allowing Kaori to stop the attack.
Hao, who was shocked for a second, quickly got into action and used his fantastic speed to sprint toward the wyvern before activating one of his skills, Rising Fang, to kick the wyvern tail sending it upward, changing the trajectory of the laser into making it shooting up into the sky, stopping the attack at Kaori.
While all of this seems relatively normal from an outsider's perspective, the skill and situational awareness required to perform this is very high.
All this happened so fast that no average player could do it quickly, and all of this started with Kaori. With her being a mage, Kaori has all kinds of teleporting abilities, but most of them are nothing more than short distance teleport and cannot be compared to Hao Backstab, which is both a teleport and a stunt.
But Kaori scanned the situation and knew that Hao would not be able to dodge the attack. From her previous knowledge, knowing that Hao is relatively low-level, she knew that Hao would die instantly if the attack land, so she used her teleporting skill to appear in front of Hao and block the attack from killing Hao.
Using her umbrella to block the laser, Kaori could stop the attack from killing Hao; however, even with her excellent gears and her umbrella being a legendary weapon, she is still a mage, and her defence stat is not that high. It would only take a matter of time for her to die.
This leads the next person to take action, Valka. While Kaori was blocking the attack, Valka had a clear chance to attack the wyvern right then and there. Instead, he decided to help Kaori stop the attack.
Is it because his loyalty toward Kaori or his game's senses make him decide to help her?
The answer is both.
With his quick decision, Valka decides to go and save Kaori; while he certainly has the strength to interrupt the attack, he does not have one thing that would help him, which is speed. While he is undoubtedly much higher than Hao, his current build is an STR build, and when compared to Valka speed to Hao speed, Hao is much faster on that front.
The next comes to action was, of course, Hao himself. The moment he sees Kaori block the attack from the boss, Hao is shocked, but he can get his mind on the right track, process the situation, and act quickly.
Knowing full well that Kaori and Valka would never be able to the full-on attack from the boss, Hao acted quick. Even with his Backstab on cooldown, he could still make his way toward the boss in a few seconds.
Using his Rising Blade skill, he could redirect the laser beam from killing Kaori and Valka.
But what was truly most important was that all of this happened in a few seconds.
The wyvern roared in a fury, feeling its attack being redirected; it quickly turned around with a swing of its blade wing, which Hao quickly jumped back slightly to dodge the swing. The moment the wyvern turns around, its eyes lock on Hao, who can undoubtedly feel its anger.
'Well, we certainly pissed it off.' Hao thought with a slight smile on his face.
However, before the wyvern can attack Hao, Valka rushes in and punches the wyvern right in its face, getting its attention instead.
When the wyvern turned to face Valka, it opened its mouth before suddenly starting to spill blue flame from it, which Valka could also dodge.
Despite that, the wyvern head follows Valka, trying to burn him. While all of this happened, Kaori had recovered some of her health and teleported to the side of the wyvern, with Hao staying behind the wyvern.
At that moment, while Valka is distracting and kiting the wyvern, a full frontal attack will finally begin.
