Chapter 93 - The Reckoning, Part Three.

Earlier in the City, Muhammad and Luna were ambushed by Enma, who managed to separate the blond brother from his sister with a well-placed punch. Tumbling off the railing bordering Atlas's balcony, he fell through the air, feeling the wind sway both his clothes and hair. Looking below him revealed the endless mob of mafioso, each primed with their weapons and deadly signatures capable of possibly driving him to a corner.

Suppressing his Fate while falling through the sky, Muhammad channeled every ounce of his destructive aura into one fist. By the time he reached close enough to hover above the road, the man's fist imploded--cracking open the ground his arm heavily smashed into.

The following shockwave blew smoke from the epicenter into the surrounding members' faces. As one particular girl with blue hair and green eyes stumbled through the mist, she felt her hands around the sword she held start to quiver. Glancing down at the blade, she looked straight ahead, then stopped the shaking by hitting her arm.

Everyone else felt the same way. The hundreds upon hundreds of encroaching criminals, despite each possessing their aura, shivered at the thought of a single man outclassing them. Once the fog finally cleared, revealing the man in the center, they didn't miss their chance. A mighty war cry flew from the mouth of a masculine attacker. Shortly after, his right foot stomped into the road, and he sprinted ahead, rushing at Muhammad standing idle on the ground.

The prime attacker couldn't even close the distance before his hundreds of comrades converged on Muhammad. But while all of this occurred in less than a second, the blonde villain's eyes processed everything slowly.

'The Bosses of the Three Gate Families are using their pawns to divert attention away from them and whittle down whoever comes in their way. While they're the appetizer, the Boss themselves is the entree. I presume they conjectured Atlas would've been here instead of Luna and myself. A foolish deduction. Atlas Amit's strength far surpasses my own. The only one to ever rival such a presence has to be the Disastrous. That's why...'

Muhammad extended both arms and opened his hands, keeping his eyes closed at the violence of the world. '...I will be the pawn. For the last act of my life, I'll sacrifice everything to annihilate the obvious evil plaguing this City. You deal with the Bosses, Luna. I'll slaughter their fledglings.'

On the balcony of the Progenitor's quarters, Luna ducked under Enma's roundhouse kick and rolled between her legs, ending up behind the Boss. After she turned around to face the Apex, an inexplicable pulsing caused her to look down, revealing the cut wound sliced into her foot. She peered up at Luna.

"You shouldn't have obvious openings like that when you're facing an opponent." Amana retracted the aura around her finger shaped like a claw. And grinned. "Now I won't have to be so cautious."

Enma didn't let the scrape bother her. Instead of clenching her knuckles into fists, she kept her hands open and let them hover before her bust. Separating her legs, she stared past Luna; grumbling under her breath with a tired and bothered expression. Meanwhile, the Apex clenched her fists, letting one linger at her side while holding the other one ahead.

The women were each a master in their trade. While Luna focused on accumulating loyal allies in her siblings, the Apex, Enma sought power and merely used her comrades as a stepping stone to achieving it. Luna saw it etched into the Boss's pretty dark face. For despite appearances, she was just like the Progenitor. A monster.

When Luna's fist pierced the air, Enma's hands were reduced to smears and worked at lightspeed. In what seemed like a millisecond, she closed the distance between the two, grabbed the Apex's arm, and tossed her palm while Amana stood immobile. It all happened too fast for her to register. The only thing she understood was that if she remained in the way of Enma's incoming hand... her life would end.

So despite not seeing it, she reflexively flinched her torso and by extension, the rest of her body. Enma's palm strike diverted from the target to slam into the railing behind her. At that moment, the entire rooftop, interior, and balcony of Atlas Amit's quarters spontaneously imploded. The two Bosses launched above the building directly after the blast.

Yet only one of them remained conscious, and unfortunately, it wasn't Luna. Her eyes didn't have the time to finish dispersing the haze after awakening before the pupils instantly widened at the sight of Enma's incoming. Ablaze, she shot through the air, akin to a meteor. The seemingly infinite pieces of debris started to fall from the sky once Enma finished warping and digging her knuckles into Amana's gut.

Distorting the sky with a spherical shockwave following the strike, the Apex Predator fell from the heavens and crashed into the City, skidding down the street after suffering Enma's devastating attack in the form of a punch. The Boss landed at the start of the street while Luna sat at the end, bleeding from her face and gut while sitting up against a wall. Smiling through the pain, she clenched her teeth.

'That was... too much too quickly. First the explosion, then her punch. What type of Power is that?'

Enma's shadow towered over Luna; raising her head to gaze up at the killer. The red glow encircling the Boss's eyes was nothing more than a palette. It fit right at home with the Apex's blood staining her face.

"I'll say this once and only once." Enma pointed down at her. "Join me and I'll let you live. My only condition is that you have to tie your Fate to me, thereby marking your soul as a slave and mine as your master. Is that satisfactory?"

Ten fingers tightened around Enma's throat. With one clean twist, the Boss's vision about-faced and a disturbing snap burst from her neck. Coughing blood onto her bust and falling to her knees; Luna felt the pain plaguing her wounds start to fade, slowly looking up at the Displacement towering over her.

"What're you doing here? I thought you left…"

He snickered. "I never thought I'd get to say this to someone like you but—" Apollo grinned. "—I'm here to save you."
