Synopsis
The day was relatively calm and silent, making it gorgeous and tranquil. The inhabitants that resided in this aloof and serene world were going through the day like usual... Until the heavens fell. It all changed when lustrous and radiant lights fell from the ocean-like heavens like shooting stars treading through the azure skies. The falling radiance lightened the entire day for a single moment before making their landing on the earth. And upon crashing into the ground of the earth below the heavens, they brought city-wide destruction in their wake. Mushroom clouds emerged, followed by shockwaves that broke everything in its path. The heat of the fall vaporized anything below the radiance. And outside of the heat was nothing more but a wasteland of a former beautiful world. Thousands of such things fell into the cities of all nations worldwide. Nothing was left behind, resulting in the inevitable fall of humanity. Left behind by the disastrous landings of the gleaming lights was a pitch-black monolith and abominations resembling that of monsters from the abyss. It was the beginning of a new era. The era of the long-lasting apocalypse. And in this dark age was a young girl, Samara Grimes. She was someone who had to survive through the apocalypse while also leveling up. ――――― [Disclaimer: I do not own the cover of the book. All credits will goes to the creator of the cover. Chapter 1 - Prologue of the Heaven's Fall

It was nearly noon, precisely at mid 11 am.

The golden radiant was plastered on the azure skies and shone its gleaming light throughout the ocean-like heavens and onto the land above the earth.

Within the vast heavens, the fluffy silver clouds floated through and were carried by the breeze of wind. Atop the expansive land, the lush evergreen leaves and tall slick grasses rustled upon the contact of the gust of wind. It was a relatively beautiful day for those who had resided on the earth.

And, It was nothing more than a typical and boring day for some.

The lustrous sunlight of the golden radiant sun pierced through the silky curtains, slightly covering the windows of a small library within a particular high school on the city's hillside. And the mentioned library looked somewhat simple with its bland white walls and dozens of wooden bookshelves.

Within that tiny library was a peculiar young student reading through a fantasy book with at least seven more volumes in its title. She was in the final book and her effort that lasted for a single week was about to reach its long-awaited conclusion.

She flipped through the pages with an aloof expression. Finally, dozens of minutes later, she reached the epilogue title. The End... She had read through the entire page without a hint of her expression changing, and afterward, she closed the book and placed it atop the wooden table.

She had numerous thoughts passing through her head as she wondered about the things that had gone through the book. In simpler terms, it was a story about a regular dude surviving in a fantasy world. It might have sounded like a typical story one could find on the internet.

But the fantasy story was a little bit different.

Despite having a golden finger, the story resembled that of dark fantasy with merciless depictions of the medieval era with fantasy elements. There was a time in the fourth book when the dude got cheated by the heroine, which resulted in a divorce that brought unwanted depression.

Anyhow... She could say many things regarding the book, but she'd rather not talk too much about it.

The young student sighed and stood up from the wooden chair. She felt her entire body stiff, so she stretched her limbs, revealing the entirety of herself. In simpler terms, she was a beauty. Not a groundbreaking beauty, but simply a gorgeous one.

Her name was Samara Grimes, a 16th-year-old student of Gloss High School. The high school resided on the hillside, which provided a great view of the city, though it was far from it. The Gloss High School also inhabited the area between the city and the province beyond it, making it a place where city kids and countryside kids meet.

Samara had silky jet-black hair that stretched out to her waist. Her skin was pale and milky white, while it was also smooth and soft. Samara's irises, which enveloped her black pupils, were coal black in color. Above it was her thin and slick eyelids that were naturally trimmed.

She wore an ivory white uniform with a black tie with triple white stripes. Her nightly black skirt also had its snowy strips at the bottom. Even below that was her black pantyhose covering the entirety of her thighs. And finally, she wore eyeglasses over such a beautiful face.

Despite resembling an aloof and uncaring girl, Samara took great care of her body as appearance provided its own natural advantages and disadvantages. As long as one could be careful, the penalties of beauty can be avoided. But the natural benefits would still reside right beside her.

Such were the things her father had taught her.

Samara was uncaring to those around her as she sat back on the wooden chair and closed her eyelids for a short while. She wanted to take a rest and calm her heart, bringing it to ease. Samara's relaxation didn't take long, so she opened her eyelids and quickly turned her gaze towards the bookshelf, wondering what next book she should read.

Before she could even continue thinking about it, Samara stopped as she needed to return to her classroom. She was at least an hour late as recess had already passed. She would probably get a heavy scolding from her teacher, but she was already used to it, so it didn't bother her that much.

Samara stood again from her wooden chair and took the book from the table. She walked toward the librarian to return the fantasy book which she had entirely read. She arrived at the reception area and placed the book atop the receptionist's table as the librarian went through it without a word escaping her mouth.

After confirming the book's return, the librarian looked at Samara and remarked. "So, did you cut from your classes again?" Samara didn't utter a single reply, which resulted in the librarian sighing and continuing. "Reading isn't a problem, but you should know how to manage your time."

"And make sure you wouldn't develop a habit of cutting from your classes."

Samara nodded in understanding as the librarian shook her head. Then, with the confirmation's conclusion, Samara left the reception area and walked out of the small library. She exited the best and most silent part of the school and was now entering the formidable hallway.

Walking into it, Samara noticed the bland ivory walls and the monotone windows. However, the lustrous gleam of the sunlight also pierced through the windows, giving light to the hallway. Each step echoed as she turned her gaze towards the beautiful view of the city portrayed by the windows.

Looking over the city, Samara couldn't help but think of her family, who resided in the neighborhood near its outskirts. Samara had a family of three that included her. Thus, she only had her father, little sister, and herself. Her mother had abandoned them and was never to be seen again.

And the family itself had no longer spoken of her.

Anyway, before entering Gloss High School, Samara had a fight with her father. It was regarding Samara's future. And it was somewhat of a fierce battle between the oldest daughter and the father. Nonetheless, it was nothing more than a difference between worldviews followed by different priorities in terms of importance.

Samara had a strange childhood as she felt her mother's love and betrayal when her mother left them. And she didn't want their father to do the same, so she helped the household and did every job they had back home. It was one of the ways to lessen the burden on her father.

She didn't want to overwork her father because she would sooner or later reach college, though she had two or three years before then. Samara also had to worry about her little sister's education, and their household's budget was incredibly tight.

The family only had the gun store and the shooting range, which provided enough income to lift the household from poverty. Anymore from that would be problematic, so Samara and her father argued whether or not she would join the college in the later years.

Samara would preferably want to inherit the family business as she had been doing that store's chores since childhood. But unfortunately, her father didn't want her to do such a thing and wanted Samara to enter college and get a course for her future. Due to this difference in opinion, Samara left her home during the argument.

She knew that after school hours, she would have to go back, so within her mind, she was establishing arguments for the future battle.

'Hmm... What do I do? Father could loan some money, but I'd rather avoid such a path to debt. I need to clarify my opinion, and my dream is to take care of the family business. I don't want to do anything I dislike and am distant from.' Samara quietly thought to herself while walking through the hallway.

Preparing for future arguments with her father was lengthy and complicated. First, she needed to find possible counters to create counters for them. Second, Samara had to be determined and stubborn. And lastly, clarifying everything she wanted to do with her life would explain her arguments.

With this in mind, Samara was a bit confident. She felt that she could take anything without that much of a problem. Though, it was nothing more but a slight boost of confidence. If her father brought up something unexpected, she might lose the argument.

There was also the subject of the scholarship, which would solve a lot of problems. But, it was another subject and problem in itself.

Samara's father wanted to provide for her daughter, who had already helped the household her entire childhood. It was a way to repay her and give her a promising future. Unfortunately, Samara wanted the inheritance, and sadly, the family business had a low income and heavy expenses. It was problematic, and the family business would surely fail in the future.

Rather than inheriting something that would reach its defined ending, Samara's father wanted to give her something new and long-lasting. Unfortunately, though, Samara was as stubborn as her father. None of them were willing to back down, which made the argument louder.

She continued looking over the city that was a distance away from the high school. The gorgeous day was radiant and calm, which silenced the complicated thoughts within Samara's mind and heart. She shook her head and thought to herself. 'I guess I shouldn't have done that.'

'I should make up with him and apologize.'

Later, a distant loud siren blared and resonated throughout Gloss High School. Samara noticed it came from the city, far from her location. She furrowed her eyebrows as she wondered why the siren began blaring. She had a bad feeling within her heart, and the announcement from the school's speaker made it worse.

*Attention! All students must enter the gymnasium as an emergency has emerged."

*I repeat! The school has called upon all students to gather in the gymnasium. The government and space administration had issued a level 5 emergency.*

*All students must enter the gymnasium!*

The announcement from the speakers echoed throughout the school building. It was relatively eerie as what came after it was nothing more than the distant loud siren blaring with all its might. The doors of the classrooms then opened as students exited one after another.

No lines were formed to not waste time. That was enough for the teachers as long as they didn't stampede through the hallway.

Samara felt a heavy feeling within her heart as she wondered what the level 5 emergency was. She turned back and walked toward the gymnasium. Samara immediately opened her phone to call her family. But before she could continue, her question about the level 5 emergency was regrettably answered.

A silver light flashed in the ocean-like heavens as a luminous object fell from the azure skies like a shooting star treading through empty horizons. It shone brilliantly with the gleaming radiance that shrouded everything below it. It was like a scene from a movie.

Samara felt her heart wildly beating as her muscles shook and tensed. A chill resonated on her spine as cold sweat dropped from her forehead. This was a deep fear of destruction seen through one's eyes. Seconds later, the radiance of the heavens fell along with many others worldwide.

It crashed or landed in the middle of the city, creating a massive mushroom cloud and shockwave which expanded throughout the city. The gust of wind from the shockwave broke everything it could and then hit the high school on the hillside, which also accompanied a deafening roar.

*BOOM!!!*

Glasses shattered everywhere as Samara immediately covered herself. But her body got pushed at the wall, causing her head to hit it. Thus, Samara fell to the ground and got forced into a deeply unconscious state, unhinged from the destruction around her.

And so, the heavens fell.

Signifying the start of the long-lasting apocalypse.
