Chapter 3 - The Anima (2/2)

[15 years later; Imaik system; Anima Class Two Battleship 065078073077065]

Unit C 160495 is in a completely dark room with only a yellow circle on the floor.

The unit was deemed competent after proving it could achieve success and was given command of the Anima Class Two Battleship 065078073077065.

The Battleship is twice the size of a Class One Anima Battleship and the Class Two is the typical Anima ship most used in war.

The Class Two Battleship not only has more Anima on board and more fighters, but also better weapons and defence. Like an absorbing shield that renders any particle weapon useless.

Unit C 160495's appearance has changed over the past 15 years too. Her body is now at a age of 24 and her golden hair was gone and in its place were hundreds of cables on her head that reached up to the ceiling of the room.

The Body of Unit C 160495 has also developed, she is a female organism measuring exactly 186 cm (6 ft 1 ). The unit has yellow pupils and a cold and icy expression on her beautiful face and currently has her eyes closed. She has a curvey body and wears a black / yellow body suit.

Currently, the Unit is in the regeneration stage. Every Anima has to regenerate the organism for some time in order to maintain all cybernetics and further optimizations of the body and mind.

The regeneration time lasts on average about 14 hours and must not be interrupted. The unit should then be fully operational for about a month or so.

Said a thousand voices united as one, in unit C 160495 head.

...

Unit C 160495 opened her eyes after receiving the mission and the cables attached to her head detached themselves and disappeared towards the ceiling of the room.

All anima in the Sector are to go to the Kalmora System and obliterate a research facility on Kalmora 13. The Alliance Army is expected to be heavily protect the facility, but the target must be destroyed at all costs.

The order to destroy a planet is not given lightly by the Anima, after all, assimilation is more efficient, so the research facility must be dangerous for the anima, so dangerous that they have commissioned a large-scale operation to destroy them.

After Unit C 160495 opened her eyes, she controlled her Battleship with her left hand and commanded it to immediately depart for the rendezvous coordinates from where the attack on Kalmora 13 will take place.

...

[Two days before the attack; Kalmora system; Kalmora 13]

***POV: Alliance Admiral Howard Bird commands UA 999, the flagship of Alliance Fleet 1024, currently flying over the planet Kalmora 13.

On the flagship's bridge are different soldiers, all wearing white military clothes, only the color of the collar was different for some, depending on which department they are assigned to. Also the technician, tactical officers or the soldier etc.

"Captain, the Fleet is in position and the defenciv measures on the planet are progressing. The data has been secured as requested, but cannot be transmitted due to the Anima's communication blockage. Furthermore, we have brought all scientists to the desired security bunkers." said the second officer after saluting to the Admiral who was sitting in his command chair on the bridge.

The Admiral was wearing also a complete white military clothes, but had black shoulder plates and a lot of military medals on him.

"Well done second officer, we just have to wait for the Anima to attack now, only then can we take care of their communication blockage." said the Admiral as he looked at a report on a datapad.

"Copy Admiral," said the second officer as he stepped away.

"Admiral, your guests have arrived and are in hangar six," said a blue-skinned, two-armed soldier who had just entered the bridge and saluted.

"Jack is as punctual as ever, well then, let's not keep my guests waiting." said the Admiral with a slight smile.

"Admiral exits the bridge," said one of the two soldiers standing by the door the Admiral exited through.

The Admiral then made his way to the flagship's hangar six. The crew on the Warships, despite being on the verge of a major battle, was relatively easygoing, you could hear people talking and laughing everywhere. Although most stopped as soon as they saw the Admiral.

Morale was so good, not because they believed the battle to come would be easy, but because they wanted to enjoy the calm and peace before the mighty storm to come.

None of the soldiers above and on Kalmora 13 want to die, yet all volunteered to fight for the Alliance, their own species, and their families back home, they risk their death to keep them save.

The Admiral was more than proud of his fleet's morale. Concentrating completely on the enemy in war, but resting at peace to gain new energy and higher moral, that's what makes a experienced soldier for him.

...

After a while the Admiral reaches hangar six and finds his guests he has ordered their in a corner of the hangar. In fact, his guests are an elite squad of approximately 100 soldiers operating in two modified DropShips. The elite squad is known for its successes against very difficult secret missions against the Anima, and their commander Jack, is a longtime military veteran and good friend with Admiral Bird.

"Why are you sneaking into my ship instead of just coming in through the front door?" said the Admiral with a smile on his lips.

"You know me mighty Admiral, I just like being the guy who acts from the shadows." said Jack with smile as he sees his old friend.

Jack and all his soldiers were wearing black military uniforms with dark green spots here and there and most were holding their military helmets and smiling when they saw the Admiral.

After the initial greeting, Jack and a small handful of his soldiers, as well as the Admiral, made their way to a room where there were already four people all dressed in white and with blue collars, sitting on some chairs and some holographic screens on one side of the table. On the screens you could see some high-ranking Admirals all waiting for the missing members.

The door opened and Admiral Bird and Jack and four of his soldiers entered the room.

"Greetings to the Admirals and all the scientists present, we all have important preparations to make and shouldn't waste our time talking too much, so I'll get straight to the point of today's agenda." said Admiral Howard Bird.

"Soon the fight against the Anima will begin via Kalmora 13, we all know that their goal is the secret research facility on the planet, they absolutely want to prevent our research on the Anima and the dissolution of the assimilation and therefore we must use this facility and protect the researchers at all costs." the admiral said afterwards and some of the admirals on the transmissions nodded when they heard the Admiral.

"The Anima have hastily ordered all troops and battleships in this sector to come here and destroy us as soon as possible. This is a mistake, which the Anima made, because they are afraid of our research." said the admiral.

"Admiral Howard Bird, please tell us what you're getting at." said one of the Admirals on the transmission.

"Simple. I want to use this chance to capture a Command Drone and unassimilate it. It could give us a lot of valuable information not only about some troop movements but about Anima in the whole Sector if not the whole warzone. Information that we desperately need in the current war situation." said Admiral Bird energetically.

"Admiral Bird, if our information is correct, then while the research so far should indicate a successful containment of some drones from the Anima. However all of them have been unwilling to cooperate no matter what actions we have taken. Why do you think they will be successful now with a Command Drone?" one of the admirals asked on the transmission.

"Leading scientist Norben Reia can answer that better than I can. Mr. Norben, you have the word." said Admiral Howard Bird.

One of the scientists, a blond man in his 50s, stood up, he was relatively thin, about 170 cm (5 ft 7) tall and had a white beard.

"Thank you, Admiral Bird, for the introduction. My name is Norben Reia, and it was said before, I am the executive director of the research base on Kalmora 13. I would like to report that we have revolutionized our process of decoupling and reintegrating the Anima. The emotions and personality is restored to the affected drone." promised the scientist.

"The only problem is that the procedure requires Trium 02x1, a very rare element that cannot be synthesized. But we have enough of it for exactly one drone. My first assistant Doctor Dekkar Raay has all the simulations and summarized reports on them for you at this moment sent." the scientist added at the end of his speech.

"That's all well and good, but who's going to undertake such a dangerous and risky mission to kidnap a Commander Frone alive? Admiral Bird, you don't intend to use your forces for that, do you?" one of the Admirals asked.

"No, of course not, Admiral Bird doesn't intend to do that, instead I, Captain Jack will operate the mission with my humble elite squad to secure the Anima you want. I don't think this mission will really do anything, but I do trust my old comrade, Admiral Bird with my life, so if he says the mission is important I will follow his instructions" Jack said suddenly.

"Sorry Admirals, for the behavior of Captain Jack, while his manners leave something to be desired, his chances of success in various missions given to him by the Alliance, speak for themselves." said Admiral Bird.

The Admirals on the transmissions were all silent as they digested all the information that was sent to them. In the end, the Admirals decided to discuss the mission proposed by Admiral Bird for four hours.

In the end, they decided to approve the mission, but with the proviso that if after a week they can't prove that the Anima they reintegrated isn't cooperating, they'll immediately hand it over to the military.

Admiral Bird and everyone involved, agreed and arranged payment for the mercenaries who would take on the mission.

"That went well, didn't it?" Jack asked as he popped some tobacco into his mouth.

"You and your miserable sarcasm, you know it's only going to get you in trouble Jack? Sigh," Admiral Bird sighed.

"Yes, yes, what the ever, well then Admiral, we'll see you at the drop-off point at the agreed time, of course only if you win the battle and you old man survive. HAAHAH" yelled Captain Jack, as he and his soldiers made their way to hangar six .

"Sigh, good luck" the Admiral said at the end, looking at his friend from afar one last time and then heading to the bridge.

...

[Kalmora system; Kalmora 13]

***Back to unit C 160495 (Vesna)

The Anima Battleships have now formed a huge cluster and are beginning the attack on the Kalmora System.

The probability of victory is 43% in the battle and the probability of completing the mission is 62%, so the Anima begin their attack.

The battle strategy is taken over by a Complex of the Anima. A Complex is a part of Anima in which billions of billions of consciousnesses merge together as one and are mainly used for complex tasks, wars and battles and so on. There are countless such Complexes in Anima, and one of them will manage the battle over Kalmora 13 today. The Commander Units, on the other hand, are responsible for commanding their battleships and Anima in the battle.

All 50 Anima Warships, most class twos and a few class ones, are getting ready to jump. The typical yellow circles form again on the four engines of the Anima Battleships and then they jump to lightspeed.

...

With some yellow lights shining in the infinity of space, the Alliance Fleets realized that the Anima had arrived and the battle with them had begun.

Countless Attack Fighters and Bombers stormed out of the Alliance hangars at this moment. The weapons of all Alliance Warships activated and with a red light one could see that the particle weapons were charged.

The Anima Battleships, on the other hand, moved quickly toward the Alliance Fleet in a closed formation after entering the System.

The Anima's Black Interceptors and Bombers took off and all space in front of the Covenant Fleet suddenly lit up with yellow lights.

The Anima fired their weapons everywhere. The Anima's heavy Battleships' yellow particle beams shot everywhere, and the first of the Alliance's smaller Cruisers were destroyed in the first few shots.

The Alliance didn't wait long for their counterattack and countless Warships fired at the Anima Battleships with their red particle beams.

The red particle beams hit and damaged the first Anima Battleships, but after the initial damage, the Anima adjusted their shields and armor, and the weapons no longer dealt damage to the Anima Battleships.

The Alliance quickly switched weapons, firing different types of torpedoes at the Anima Battleships.

Meanwhile, the Anima's Interceptors and the Alliance's Attack Fighters engaged in a fierce battle against each other in space. They tried to destroy each other and as many enemy Bombers as possible.

A bloody battle for an asteroid belt located above Kalmora 13 ensued, and countless beings were dying every second there.

After some time, the first Battleship of the Anima was destroyed.

Four torpedoes hit and destroyed two of the four engines and set off a chain reaction throughout the ship, causing the ship to explode. No Anima survived.

On the other side is the Alliance fleet, which has now lost 20 of its Warships and many small Cruisers. The death toll is astronomically high.

In the battle, some Anima boarding parties were also sent out in small transport ships.

Some made it through the fighter's defenses and struck the hull of various combat ships.

The boarding parties usually consisted of 30 Anima soldiers. Each soldier possesses a biomechanical right cannon arm that can fire a weak but more than deadly particle beam against infantry. The left arm carries a module with which an anima can fire laser beams and engage in melee combat. Then there are also drones that have a third mechanical arm attached and can therefore fight even better in close combat. In addition, each of the Anima Soldier drones has a built-in plasma shield that can repel laser weapon attacks for some time.

In all of the ships where the Anima boarding parties landed, bloody and brutal battles ensued against the Anima's robotic forces and the military soldiers aboard the warships.

Typically, the Anima could storm and assimilate the ship, then they would order the ship to attack one of the Alliance ships, and preferably launch a suicide attack on one of the other Warships.

However, the captains of the Alliance on the ships would often react quickly enough before this happened and launch as many escape pods and order the self-destruction of his ship. This usually ended with the death of everyone on board.

Another 40 Warships of the Alliance fleet were destroyed by the attack of the Anima boarding parties. Meanwhile, the Anima lost only three more Battleships.

But suddenly the battlefield changed, the Alliance suddenly retreated with their Warships and the Anima Complex began to go through all sorts of reasons as to which approach would be the most efficient to achieve the objective.

The Anima Complex chose to advance the Battleships and prevent the Alliance from regrouping.

The Anima Battleships followed orders, only Unit C 160495 saw some problems with the decision to advance, predicting a high probability of a trap in the asteroid belt.

The Anima Complex understood it's concerns, but ordered the advance anyway. Unit C 160495 followed orders, but it's Battleship was one of the further back in the formation.

As the Anima Cluster then advanced in formation and continued firing at the fleeing Alliance fleets.

However suddenly torpedoes began to fire from some of the asteroids.

They hit five of the Anima ships badly, destroying all of them and exploding in minutes.

The Alliance has previously built several ground-to-air stations on the Asteorids. As the Anima fleet followed her in her apparent retreat, they fell into the midst of this trap.

The Anima Bombers then bombed and destroyed the Alliance's secret positions on the Asteorids.

But the sacrifice of the Alliance soldiers was not in vain, a gap in formation was enough for the Alliance Warships and after some time countless ships broke through the formation of the Anima.

The Anima Battleships were then attacked and destroyed one after the other from vulnerable spots that their shields could not protect permanently.

...

One of the ships damaged was the Anima warship 065078073077065 commanded by Unit C 160495 (Vesna).

The warship has been critically hit and in exactly 4 minutes and 31 seconds a chain reaction will cause the ship's destruction.

Unit C 160495 is meanwhile still in the command room and commands the Anima on board to launch all Interceptors and Bombers and to leave the ship. A retreat and a regrouping of the armed forces are not possible, especially since the objective is not achieved in this way.

Instead, the Unit intents on getting a squadron of Bombers through the divide and bombing the research facility.

The chances of success are less than 11%, but there is no other possibility.

Unit C 160495 then made its way out of the command room and, with its left hand, personally piloted all the Interceptors that are to escort the Bombers down to the planet.

While walking down one of the hallways towards the hangar, a Covenant torpedo suddenly hit the hull of the hallway where the Unit was walking along with some other drones.

"BOOOOOOOM!"

Made it and a hull rupture appeared in the hallway and catapulted the air and some drones out into the vastness of space.

Unit C 160495 was able to grab on the ground but would not be able to hold on much longer.

But suddenly some of the drones that were also holding on let go on purpose and flew towards the hull rupture.

Some were catapulted straight out and the organism died instantly. But a few managed to hold on to the hole and temporarily sealed it as best they could, though they also died in the process.

After the suction power had subsided, Unit C 160495 and a few other drones immediately stood up from the ground and all just kept walking as if nothing had happened.

After leaving the part of the ship, unit C 160495 ordered the parts of the ship with holes and cracks to be sealed off, to gain more time.

After some time, unit C 160495 arrived in the hangar and manned a transport ship that only Commander Units use.

There are already 50 Anima soldiers on board and some Anima technicians that the Unit has ordered here.

After the Unit boarded the spacecraft, the ship launched and 14 interceptors escorted the spacecraft out of the hangar.

"BOOOOOOM!"

After the unit left the Battleship with their last ships, it exploded and all Anima still on board died in the explosion.

...

On a certain asteroid near the Battle of Kalmora, two modified mercenary ships observed the escape of Unit C 160495 on it's transport ship.

"The commander units are always ordered to retreat when they lose a battle, as we could only find this one transport ship, there are probably no other commander drones that survived the battle." said Jack as he looks at the transport ship.

"So watch out my soldiers, that's our target, a cyborg tail-tucked flees the battlefield after being hit in the ass. HAHAAHA" laughed Captain Jack and his soldiers listening to him.

"But don't underestimate these Commander Units, they command their little chess pieces to a perfect degree. Fighting the drone won't be easy and even if we win, catching it alive will be even more difficult as it will try to kill itself." said Captain Jack.

"So enough of the words, let's start the attack! Come on before they can escape." said Jack.

The two ships then launched from the asteroid and headed towards their target.

"First we have to take care of it's escort, 14 Interceptor, it won't be that easy. Especially since the Interceptors are controlled by the Commander Unit directly. The maneuvers and attacks it will fly will be significantly more complex and stronger against us. Don't try yours lose your head and shoot down all the ships!" Jack said as he took the navigator seat on the bridge and started flying the ship himself.

...

Unit C 160495 is currently steering its bombers in the transporter with the greatest efficiency through the defense of the enemy Warships and fighters, while the Unit is suddenly informed by an Interceptor that two unknown ships are heading for it's transport ship.

The Unit calculates there is a 92% chance that the ships are here to get information about the Anima.

She takes simultaneous control of all her Interceptors in her escort and orders half of them to turn and fire at one of the unknown ships from two different directions.

After a few minutes the attack began and the first Interceptors began to fire, while the unknown ships dodged and returned fire.

Combat is still taking place in the Asteorid Belt, so the Unit must be careful not to collide with an Asteorid. However one of the Interceptors was destroyed while dodging a astroid.

The unit then maneuvered the remaining Interceptors more efficiently and was able to land an attack against the main power distribution of one of the ships.

"BOOOOM"

Made the ship as it exploded in two. But again, the Unit also lost two Interceptors.

The Other Unknown Ship suddenly picked up speed and began dodging and countering the Interceptor's attacks even better.

It didn't take long for all seven attacking Interceptors to be destroyed.

While all of this was happening, the Interceptors escorting the Bombers to the planet Kalmora 13 managed to carve out a path for the Bombers.

A total of 41 Bombers made it through the defenses and are now entering planetary orbit.

...

The other unknown ship is getting closer and the Unit decides to send the other seven Interceptors to attack.

They attacked the unknown ship from all sides and managed to leave light damage. But, another Interceptor was also destroyed in the attack.

But just when it looked close for the unknown ship, three Allianz fighters suddenly came out from behind a large asteroid and shot at the Interceptor.

All interceptors were slow to react and were destroyed.

Afterward, the Alliance fighters fired on the engines of the Anima transporter that unit C 160495 was in and the engines were destroyed.

"Boom"

"Boom"

Made it onto the transporter as it lost speed and slowly came to a standstill in space.

Meanwhile, unit C 160495 is still commanding it's Bombers, which are getting closer and closer to the research station.

Many were killed by ground to air weapons and only 19 bombers were left, but in the end only 6 must make it at most, then the damage should be around 80% and that would be enough for the mission.

...

Meanwhile, the unidentified ship fired some grappling hooks and docked from the entrance to the transporter.

In the Anima Transporter, the Unit commanded the Anima Soldiers to disperse them and destroy all Enemies that enter the ship. In addition, she took a weapon module for her right hand and put on a kind of glove with which she can shoot simple laser projectiles that cause damage even with good infantry armor.

The 50 Anima Soldier drones readied their right arm cannon and all aimed at the entrance of the transport that is being welded up. The soldier drones have all positioned themselves in front of the commander Unit protecting it with their plasma shields.

"BOOM"

"BOOM"

"BOOM"

"BOOM"

Did it when the entrance was opened and blasted, after which several grenades were thrown into the room which immediately exploded on contact, killing three Anima instantly.

After that, the laser guns started firing and yellow particles from the lasers could be seen all over the corridor.

Then the unknown forces began their attack.

10 soldiers with an all black military suit and helmet covering their entire body came out of the smoke of the enemy ship in their two hands carrying all kinds of heavy weapons and started firing at the Anima with red lasers.

It took the Anima's attacks a while to get through the armor of the heavy soldiers, but after a while they broke through and four of the enemies died. In the midst of the fight, however, more than 12 Anima lost their lives.

The Unit analyzed the strategy and movement of each enemy and, realizing that all of the soldiers are experienced and good at shooting, they hit the Anima soldiers in the places where the shield recovers the slowest.

The Unit that is now certain that something like this cannot be created just like that, these are elite soldiers who are here especially for her, probably to capture her alive.

When the Unit analyzed this, 8 other soldiers in similar armor suddenly came out of the enemy ship. One of them used two dual revolvers that glowed red with energy.

After that, the enemy fired the dual weapons a few times, destroying some Anima Soldiers.

The number of soldiers that the unit has at its disposal is getting smaller and smaller and it decides to get involved in the fight itself and fires on one of the soldiers in black armor.

She manages to blast away the armor on his arm and the soldier retreats, wounded, while the unit takes cover behind an Anima soldier and his shield just as some shots ricochet off the side of the Unit.

The Unit then surveyed the Anima Bombers and realized there were only 5 bombers left, but it was done the bombers were within attack range and the Unit controlled the attack with its left arm.

...

In a large bunker, in which there are a few soldiers and many scientists, there was also Norben Reia, the head of the research project, who, with some of his assistants and best colleagues, just went through their actions they would need to take when the commander drone arrives, when suddenly...

"BOOOOOMM!!"

"BOOOOOMM!!"

"BOOOOOMM!!"

"BOOOOOMM!!"

"BOOOOOMM!!"

"BOOOOOMM!!"

"BOOOOOMM!!"

"BOOOOOMM!!"

the Anima Bombers carried out their attack and destroyed almost the entire research complex. Only some buildings were intact and in one of them were only a hand full of scientists.

...

"Mission successful" said Unit C 160495 as it looked around the transport to assess the situation just as the last Anima was being destroyed.

"It's good time to sleep," said a soldier in black armor who was standing next to her and before the Unit could raise their right hand, the soldiers injected it with something and then pushed it to the ground.

After that, everything went dark for the Unit...
